SCENIC VISTA ALERT - if you make it here, you'll probably spend a minimum of ten solid minutes just ogling the skyline of our small, fair city. And with good reason - you can pick all the landmarks out, watch the blood of the city pump through arteries such as I-95 and Memorial Boulevard, and snap a "wish you were here" style photo to show off to others. Added bonus - no one will be jockeying with you to get the view described. You'll likely be joined by about 20 or so people on the whole grounds, so you can take your time, stroll or sit or lie down, kick a soccer ball, throw a frisbee, read a book, have an intimate chat, share a laugh, or just collect your thoughts a while...overlooking the Renaissance City. read more

You come here for the view. Providence was said to be founded on seven hills, so isn't it only fitting to experience the beauty of downtown from one of them. While it's not a big park, it has a balanced selection of benches in the shade or sun and of course has that view. We were in town for the day and made this part of our visit. The park is located close to Brown U and there was plenty of street parking when we visited, on a Friday morning. The parking was good for 2 hours which was sufficient for the visit, walk around Brown, and lunch. The view is pretty nice you get to see the capital building and more. The statue is surrounded by fence so you can get too close; close enough for pictures though. Worth seeing if you're visiting Providence. read more

Morning, noon, or night, Prospect Park is a great place to get a gorgeous view of the Providence skyline. My favorite time to come here is at night. It is breathtaking as the lights of downtown Providence twinkle like the stars in the sky and you can enjoy a relaxing chat with your friend or significant other. Meanwhile, you will probably be trying to avoid staring at the kids making out in the bench next to yours. This park is relatively small, so it tends to mostly attract young lovers and the occasional dog walker. This is also where the Providence Ghost Tour meets (for those that are not of the faint of heart). In my opinion, this is one of the great landmarks to visit while you are in PVD, as it has a mix of history (with the giant statue of Roger Williams looming over the city), mystery and makes a great place for a romantic evening picnic. read more

We really should have picnicked up here. After a walk through town, we made our way here and sat on a bench overlooking the city like a cute little elderly couple. We passed some people on a lunch date, a young family out with their baby, and some guy attempting to read a book. Come, stay, sit, and chill out for a while like that little boy in, "The Giving Tree." read more

Grab a book, a friend, a bagged lunch...... This park is nestled amongst some of the oldest homes in Providence. It has a great view of the city and is the perfect place to watch the sun rise or set! I have gotten some amazing pictures of the city from this spot and often go when I need to clear my head or just get away from it all.... Its clean, safe and a wonderful spot for a picnic... Prospect Park offers one of the best views of Downcity Providence. A couple of park benches are lined up for seating and there is plenty of groomed grass to throw a blanket down as well. Sit next to the massive statue of Roger Williams and reflect on H.P. Lovecraft who used to frequently visit Prospect Park. If possible, grab a bottle of wine and kick back to the lovely sights and sounds of the city. The only downfall of this park, is that it's shut down at at dusk and cops do patrol the area and don't have a problem kicking people out. read more

A wonderful and surprisingly overlooked gem of a park. Providence actually has precious few nice parks (and this one isn't all that well maintained) but this is definitely one of the good ones. Great for a summer picnic or a spring/fall stroll (I am not saying its bad in the winter but its not its best season). read more

It's really hard not to give Prospect Park five stars. Even though the great view is being marred by the condo buildings popping up every other week, it's still a great place to bring an out-of-towner for a view of Providence. The somewhat constant patrolling of cops is a downer but the park does have a curfew so technically, we're not even supposed to be there late at night. But we keep going back even when the cops kick us out because it's a great place to chill. I've met some cool people up there that I'll probably never see again but will always remember all the good times I've had at the park. Also, a good place to watch the fireworks (if Providence ever haves them again). read more

Do you know what the best thing about a secret is? That it STAYS A SECRET! I'm surprised that so many people have written about this park, mostly because I know I'd just want it all to myself! The park isn't much, but I've seen people there reading, painting, just hanging out. The view is the main attraction here, whether its mid-day or night time you've got a nearly panoramic view of the city which is absolutely gorgeous. This'd make a fine spot for one of those cheesy romantic moments, like a marriage proposal or something. read more

A very inspiring and beautiful view of downtown Providence and the capital building that feels a bit like a Parisian park. Great tree cover makes for a great picknic spot. This is a small but lovely little park, sitting up on a hill overlooking the city; with a statue of the state's founder, Roger Williams. It's especially beautiful as it faces the sunset. With the benches provided it's a nice place to meet up with friends for a chat or to read a book. The view is good enough for a nice picture of Providence for those visiting the area. read more

This is my favorite spot in the entire city. If I am even remotely close I will maneuver my route to ensure I at least drive by the park. Oftentimes I sit on a bench with a low-cal pastry from Seven Stars (ha) and relax for half an hour. I'm not sure why this park has so many good reviews. I was going to give it 2 stars, but dropping it to one to compensate for the other high reviews. This does not even compare to the other parks such as Lincoln woods or Roger williams park, but is still rated higher on yelp. Park is very small and has some trees. Thats about the only thing going for it. You can walk from one end of the park to the other in less than a minute. The view is mostly blocked by trees in the summer time. You can see through the trees in some sections, but you'll miss all the good parts. Not worth driving to. read more
