Sure it's not a fancy schmancy car wash, but it did exactly what I needed it to. Why do I keep…read moreforgetting about this car wash by my house? After all the weird weather, back and forth with snow and rain, and soooo much dirt, I celebrated the first warm day of the year and treated our car to a bath. It was time. It was a simple bath, with no bells and whistles, but now I can drive around with dignity in the school drop off line. If you didn't know, there's a car wash in the back of Shell. It's hidden, unless you see the sign at the pump. The great thing is if you plan to use the car wash, you have two options. Pay at the pump and receive $.10 off each gallon of gas, or if you don't want gas you can head to the attendant at the car wash and pay for one of the following three options: * Regular wash $5 * Plus wash adds sealer wax and under carriage rust inhibitor $6 * Premium will get you wheel brightener and polish wax for $7 I take the cheap seats for $5 and haven't tried the upgrade services, but there is no extra tip to pay, so maybe next time. You are on your own here, and they do have interior vacuums available right around the corner from the wash. There is a yearly car wash plan available. They gave us an optional punch pass. After a few washes the next one is free!

I've been coming to this Shell station for over 10 years and they've always accepted my car wash…read morereceipts that I've paid extra for but haven't used before the expire date but haven't had any problems until now. Some officious and racist girl at the attendant stand tells me I can't use it because it's expired. She tells me she doesn't have the code buttons to put in (her first excuse) then tells me she can't let me thru bcoz it's expired and she can't do anything about (causing a long line behind me while she argues with me and then says I should pay the difference) her second excuse. Then she says she needs to call her supervisor who tells her to take all my expired receipts (all paid car washes mind you) and take my license down so as to not let me get future car washes. (Seriously, all this for an $8 car wash) she then tells me that she'll let me go and to never come back because "We don't want your kind back here!" This is the racist comment that Just put me over so I tell her to F off. To make matters worse as soon as my car exits the car wash, this bald older a hole confronts me and screams at me as to why I made his employee cry and why I was screaming at her. I tell this douche that he needs to train his employees to not scream at customers and that his employee is a racist and said she didn't want my kind here! He tells me that his employee would never say that as if he witnessed the whole thing which he did not and just walks away. Nice job alienating a long time customer. Never more! I'm pumping gas right across the street!

I can not recommend Lake Forest BP highly enough. This is one of the last gas stations around with…read morea full service repair department. Their service is great and as stated by others their diagnoses are spot on. I have never paid for unnecessary service. In fact, I took my 1991 Mustang in because the rear tires were going low about 3 days after I would refill them with air. Bob, the owner was able to diagnose that the problem was with the seal between the tires and the rims. He simply separated them, cleaned up the rims and reassembled them. No more leaks! Another example is when I took my car to them for a loud exhaust. I had stopped at 2 big chain muffler shops for their free diagnosis as one had replaced the right side muffler, the other the left when I live away from the Lake Forest area. Both told me I needed a new exhaust manifold, a high $$$ repair. Jim, the service supervisor, and his staff were able to diagnose the real problem. It was a rusted out narrow pipe that returned exhaust gas back into the fuel injection system. Also, as stated before, their gas prices are a few cents more per gallon, but they reward loyal customers with their free car wash punch card. Ten fill-ups and you get a free wash. And it's not the basic was either. It's one of their full service washes.

A full-service gas station still exists? Indeed. And, of course, it exists in Lake Forest…read more Their gas prices are consistently higher than the national average or even the Chicago average, which is unfortunate because my gas light only seems to come on in Lake Forest. *shakes fist* They have two full service pumps (the ones nearest the storefront). There's no signage on those pumps, of course, and it lets you run through the entire self-serve process... so beware because otherwise you're going to pay 70 cents more per gallon. Thanks, BP.

I usually patronize the Gilberts location, arguably the nicest gas station in Chicago but I…read morerecently hit the location in Dundee under the same management. The guys were power washing and scrubbing every inch of the property when I rolled in. I complimented one of the workers and he told me they do this every 6 months - twice a year "to keep the place looking brand new". This is an above and beyond best practice that virtually NO OTHER retail business invests in for the benefit of their customers. I'll drive on fumes past a dozen other gas stations to get to the Dundee or Gilberts location.

When I called to ask about it the person that answered the phone said "I don't have time to deal with it, nobody else is here." Slum lord and bad business owner!!! Karma is coming!

I hope I don't regret writing this review, since I don't want the secret to get out!…read more Yes, we drove from Highland Park to this Vernon Hills gas station today, because my hubby noticed the $1.95 gas price when he passed by yesterday. Mind you, this isn't the first time we've stopped by Ernie's. However, it's the lowest in the area at the moment, so I really hope it stays that way. Easy access on and off Milwaukee Avenue. Bonus points if you're a truck driver, because you can gas up and get your truck repaired at the auto and truck center. They repair foreign and domestic autos and have 24 hour towing.

If I could give "O" Stars I would! I I received EXTEMLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE from the clerk…read moreyesterday evening, Wednesday 4/27. I am still floored by the occurrence. So much so that I would like action to be taken against this employee. Unfortunately, I did not get his name, but this is not the first time that he has treated my sister and I this way. Immediately when we walked into this store, he practically told us to get out. This employee never acknowledges us. I simply asked if we could purchase IL scratch-off lottery tickets. I was immediately told in a very aggressive tone that lottery is closed. I can use the machine. Trust me, I would have preferred to use the machine, but the ticket I wanted was behind the register. I then asked why scratch-off lottery was closed and he yelled that they close at 9? Still prompting for an explanation, as I knew that you could purchase and redeem lottery scratch-off tickets, until 2am, he simply screamed that it was closed and to get out. Please refer to the link stating specifically the timeframe you can purchase and redeem scratch-off tickets in Illinois. What time do they stop selling scratch off lottery tickets in Illinois? (askinglot.com). At this point I began to videotape because I was that upset. I proceeded to ask to speak to a manager and he said, get out, you can come back in the morning. I asked if I could give him/her a call and he refused. In the meantime, my sister wanted to check out an item she won through your current Fuel Runner promotion. He did finally check her out but was not happy about it. In fact, he mentioned under his breath that you only come in here to get everything free! Yes, we do come in because this is the only location near us, to redeem our promotion earnings, but if they did not want to honor these, they should not be a Circle K Franchise. This is simply unacceptable as nobody should be treated this way, especially as a customer. To make matters worse, I stopped back in this evening 4/28 at 8:30 p.m. to purchase the scratch-off tickets. It was a different clerk, so I asked him what time they stop selling scratch-offs behind the counter. He told me never. You can purchase those 24/7! So, here in lies my point. Absolutely ridiculous. Be warned!
