During a remodel of a flooded basement, we found that our sewer line from the bathroom to the septic system was damaged due to original pipe was not big enough and broken just before it reached the tank. ProSeptic came out and dug up my basement slab, put in the correct size pipe and replaced and reconnected it to the septic tank. We used ProSeptic in August 2025 and in February 2022. To start with the positive, their field personnel was very professional and friendly in both instances. However, with their office staff (Amber) and especially their Head of Operations (Jason) we had quite the opposite experience. Their tone and lack of professionalism in dealing with customer inquiries about high cost that were not sufficiently explained upfront (i.e. additional digging fee of $75 to remove less than 1 foot of soil; additional fee to use a credit card) are stunning. I only review when service is exceptional - but our current situation has led me to write my first negative review, which I'll keep fact-based. We have been customers for more than 5 years and have defended ProSeptic to friends who said they had bad experiences. We should've listened. I'm thoroughly frustrated by the way they treated us -- like several others here, during a routine pump out, they told us we needed a new tank so we had it installed, and it is now in total failure less than one year on (the infiltrator they installed is only 4 yrs old). Another company came out and confirmed what we suspected: we never needed a new tank, and the current set up is not appropriate for our home. We have had to call in an engineer, only to discover that nothing was permitted or filed with BOH (which is technically on us to check into but still not good business practice). We are in an emergency situation and have not heard a word from Jason. His staff, who are all good guys, have said conflicting things. One essentially told us "it must be your fault" maybe for using bleach (we do not) or RidX (we do not) or a leak (a plumber confirmed even if we had a leak shouldn't totally destroy a 1yr old tank). We expected information about specifically what is wrong, why it failed one year on, but have heard nothing except they want to charge us $360 bucks every 5 days to pump, and that we need to pay 25K for a whole new system -- with no proposal or explanation.To not hear anything about the cause or proposed solution from the boss adds insult to significant injury. Like many others we had them come to pump our tank and without even checking anything out we were told we needed a new tank, pipes, and leachfield at the bargain priceof$21000. Their technician Theodore literally swore at me when I asked questions about his allegation we needed a new pump. His exact works were "like I f-ing told your husband...." When I questioned why he was swearing at me, his response was "it's hot and I'm having a bad day" and then he hung up on me. When I called the main office and left several messages for the manager or supervisor to call me back, my messages were unreturned. Is this how you treat a Paiting customer? Especially after we spent nearly $2000 on a new pump less than two years ago? I had them come out to my house to clean out the septic instead the guy couldn't get the top off & broke it and never did anything! Instead he said I needed a new septic saying mine was caving in when he never even got to see it he told me it would be $6500 for a new one and he needed a $500 deposit. Once I started talking to other people that have used them I called a different company to come out and take a look at the tank & was told there is nothing wrong with the tank it's not caving in that he wouldn't have been able to tell that when he didn't even do anything. These people are scammers! I called them to pump my tank- which was working perfectly. They told me I needed a new tank. Before I realized what was happening they replaced my tank with a plastic tank when they should have used cement. Then they told me I needed a whole new system! They left my yard a mess with a big sinkhole!At that point I called a friend ( the person who actually installed my original system) and he confirmed that my system was in working order and did not need replacement! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE FRAUDS! WE called them to come clean our septic. THey cancelled and then showed upa few days later . WHen they did, they could not find our tank. Promised to come back a week later with something to put in toilet that would help find tank. Instead, a new service worker came out without the item that helps find tank. He walked around in our back yard, never uncovered our tank, and then told us we needed a new leach field (never showed us the problem) He took a 500.00 deposit, to "save the date" he never told us it was non refundable, gave us reciept, no where on it says "non refundable" no where on website does it say "non refundable" We needed to cancel the night before do to a family emergency. Our friend , who is an engineer came by and took a look. We were stunned to learn we do not need a new leach field. Nothing wrong w/ our septic! Guy not even looking in the right place. When I called to request back my deposit, I was told i could not have it back! I attempted to explain the situation and was hung up on. I called back and my number was blocked! I called from my home phone and attempted to speak to the owner. Again he hung up on me and blocked my number! Jason and his company was recommended by my cousin who had just used him. He came and pinpointed the problem and not only that, gave me the best price overall. His workers arrived and they were all very nice and knowledgeable. They got to the root of the problem and were right on schedule, they completed the project in one day. He then asked me if I still wanted the tank pumped because it would save me money when he would do the job. I asked him to just pump the septic. For some reason this did not sit right with me. Pro septic has been servicing my home and rental properties for the last five years. They do a fine job, and the prices are reasonable. Horrible customer service. Harassing a handicapped consumer, TWICE!!. Told my wife a date and time then when they needed accommodating to do a few jobs in same area which would help them to do all jobs in one day in same area so my wife and I accommodated them by taking the appointment. Sam told my wife they would be at our home from 10 to 2 p.m. but closer to 2 p.m. and they would call 1/2 hour before coming. Guy shows up at 9:10 a.m. 5 hours early!! No phone call as promised. My wife's aid not there to help her get to door with wheelchair. Aid newly scheduled to coincide with what Proseptic, Sam said, which we had to pay extra for her as short notice to accommodate Proseptic. Sam promised the guy would do all other jobs 1st and would come back closer to 1:45 p.m. and he would call us to let us know Guy is on his way. Guy comes again now at 10 am. 3+ hours before was supposed to come AND, NO PHONE CALL AS PROMISED, AGAIN!!! My wife's aid not due till 11:30, following what Sam at Proseptic told her. He starts harassing my wife on phone, yelling at her telling her the opposite of what he promised. My wife is crying as she is all alone, She wasn't supposed to be alone as the original appointment was scheduled in coordination with her aid so she couldn't do anything but wait for the aid to get her out of her wheelchair. We were trying to accommodate Proseptic and this is what they do to us? Then the guy slams the phone down on my wife and now what? If I didn't want to get arrested for coming after this guy he'd have a broken nose and be out of business. Social media works better so do not use this company unless you cow-tow and can jump when they say jump and do whatever they want, lying many times not caring and harassing a handicapped person. The company came to pump out a septic system and lo and behold we discovered we weren't sure where it was. But they found it and learned one had collapsed, the main one. So they excavated and installed a new one. They also cleaned out the smaller one in a second location. They were thorough, totally messed up my front yard in doing the work but seeded so grass came back nicely. And they cleaned up. They advised me to have it pumped in 3-4 years since it's only me in the house most of the time except when family visits. I would highly recommend the company. Came out said, they couldn't do it because of "packed clay" and needed a special digging tool that would cost me more than double. Seemed like they may have been working me, but what do I know about septic stuff so agreed. 12 hours before the appointment for them to come pump they called and cancelled. This is a weekend home, I travelled specifically for this appointment and I explained that I'm due tohave a baby in 2 weeks and this was the only time we could do the appointment before we bring our baby home. Pro Septic's truck leaked oil all over our newly sealed driveway. I had to call them to make them aware of the problem instead of the driver noticing. Pro Septic then sent a crew to put down absorbents, but never came back to clean up their mess. Pro Septic did not respond to multiple calls over multiple days requesting them to return to clean up their mess, but never even bothered to return our calls out of obligation or common courtesy. Beware! Fraud Alert. I have never written a negative review of a business before. I called them to evaluate an exposed and cracked PVC pipe in my yard (from all the rain/erosion) coming from back of my home below grade where it exited the ground further out in the yard. Pro Septic rep came to look when I was not home and reported to me that I needed the pipe blown out and repaired and a cap placed on it for future access. About $750. Took a CC number and scheduled an appointment for the work. Now, I grew up in apartments in the city and really am not knowledgeable about these things. Brought it to the attention of my lawn install and mowing service because they've been with me from when the house was built and it's likely the mowers that cracked the now exposed pipe. He reminded me from when we installed the lawn and sprinklers, that my waste pipes exited from the front of my house and that the broken PVC pipe in question was just a pipe guiding my gutter water away from the foundation! A septic company service rep couldn't tell the difference? I doubt that. Either they never came to look or absolutely don't know what they're doing or worse, they know exactly what they're doing and are outright fraudulent. I am outraged. Steer clear. read more

Used Pro Septic for pump out, the guy who came noticed there was an issue with leach field and water was over max and would need to have this done, I asked if it made sense to continue pump he said yes and went ahead and Jason would probably deduct this from bigger job, great sounds fair. After he was complete he gave me invoice with extra charge I commented why he did not tell me this before when he was explaining other things and that I would have appreciated that before work was done that it was going to be more than my original quoted price, he just shrugged, I said thank you he said he would fill in and I said ok and walked in house. Next thing his truck pulls out, I called when I saw hole not filled in owner text me back stating that his guy said I had a attitude and I stormed in my house so he did not complete job! When I explained this was absolutely not true was told his guy had no reason to lie (except to not have to fill in hole), no apology just unprofessional text sent to me. So, I'm here to say: Ive had a ridiculous amount of contractors at our house in Dutchess County over the last 2 years. It was a reno project we basically rebuilt. And one after another we had issues with service folk. Pro Septic was the exception. They came on a Sunday of a holiday weekend without flinching and didn't upcharge us like every other jerk around here.
