I started seeing Stephanie for acupuncture treatments in my third trimester. At the time, my baby was breech, I was severely anemic and I had just gone through a traumatic 2 days in the hospital, and my entire nervous system was completely shot. I have previously seen a number of different acupuncturists during my pregnancy and had only felt a slight difference from those treatments for maybe 24 hours following them. However, the treatments with Stephanie were very, very different. During our sessions, we discussed what was going on for me physically mentally emotionally and spiritually at length. The questions she asked to inspire conversation between us were very intuitively led and I felt that once she put the needles in and it was time for me to rest and relax for the rest of the session, many doorways and pathways opened up for me internally. Stephanie is very well known for her acupuncture work in the birthing world. When I was trying to get pregnant again after suffering from a lost, I turned to Stephanie's expertise and holistic acupuncture practices. After a session with Stephanie and following her advice, I got pregnant that month. I saw Stephanie again when I was 9 months pregnant and my unborn baby was breech. She burned moxa sticks and done acupuncture on me, and gave me instruction to continue to burn moxa sticks every night and acupuncture twice weekly. I was also practicing Spinning Baby technique, going to chiropractor, Webster technique, all during 34-37 weeks gestation. Finally at 38 weeks gestation, baby finally turned head down position. When I passed my due date, I called Stephanie again to try to naturally induce me with acupuncture. I have been seeing Stephanie for 12 years and have recommended her to many friends who all had positive experiences - I even let her treat my toddler who was having a crazy reaction to some virus and had not been himself for days - after the treatment which was just a few needles he was restored to his normal self - the irritability was gone and his words were back it was the biggest relief. She did it so gently and carefully he didnt even notice the needles though I had warned him amply about them and was afraid he would flip out. She gave palliative treatments to my partner in his final weeks before he passed from Cancer and he had always been a skeptic of acupuncture but admitted grudgingly that he felt dramatic improvements every time she came. Effects of chemo were reduced and his appetite would return. When I was grieving she came to give me treatments that lifted the swamp of sadness out of my chest. Stephanie comes to your house to do acupuncture, both related to pregnancy and not, and in my experience, I felt at ease and calm and like she was not a stranger in my apartment immediately. We had issues related to getting labor started and changing the baby's position, so we called her and she was able to fit us in the same day. Less than 12 hours later our baby was born. I am not quite sure how acupuncture works, but the two very much felt connected. Regardless, I am glad we had her come. She made us feel calm, excited and respected, and she's also just an interesting person to talk to. I have never done acupuncture before my last pregnancy and had heard from many people within the birth world that it would help to prepare for a VBAC. Stephanie came highly recommended by a few different people and I attribute the work she did with me to our successful VBAC birth. First, Stephanie makes house calls and it was so convenient as a working pregnant mom. Overall her care was great, and I always felt relaxed and refreshed after our sessions. Things got quite emotional and complicated toward the end of my pregnancy discovering my baby was breech, and she provided emotional support as well as preparing me for a successful ECV. She also did a labor induction session and it was intense (she walked me through it) and I even produced colostrum during the session, a signal that those hormone channels were being woken up. As I was concerned about my due date timeline (because my OB's protocol for VBAC moms not to go past the due date) she prescribed Chinese herbs to induce labor which I took the day before my due date and I went into labor a few hours after taking them. Stephanie knew my doula and they worked together to advise me to take another dose of herbs to get my labor to progress many hours after my water broke. They certainly did the trick and I showed up at the hospital 8cm dilated and had my baby within 3 hours of arriving at the hospital. Even if I hadn't gotten the outcome I was aiming for, I felt like I had the best birth team and was felt so supported having Stephanie walking me through preparations for a VBAC. I was diagnosed with Choleostasis in my first pregnancy and then nearly died giving birth. So when I accidentally got pregnant with my second a year after I was terrified and I knew I needed to do things differently. Stephanie came week after week and I wasn't sure if it was "working" but I wanted to try it all. When I made it past 34 weeks everyone was impressed that my pregnancy went further than my first had. My doctor was so impressed by my lab results - my liver enzymes were better than they had been even before I was pregnant. She had given me a 80% chance it choleostasis returning - which it did not. Of course every pregnancy is dramatic in its own way so after reaching high goals of keeping baby to 37 weeks I then was facing another issue - the baby was breech. Once again Stephanie was able to fix it with her remedies and healing hand in only a few days. Stephanie is amazing! I contacted her 35 weeks into my pregnancy with a breach baby. She was able to see me immediately and made me feel comfortable and listened to right away. I contacted Stephanie for acupuncture when I was 40 weeks pregnant. She arrived at my home and her energy was completely "off". She did not ask me any questions about my medical history or wellbeing. Stephanie came to my home when I was almost 42 weeks pregnant with my first child three years ago. She did the acupuncture induction protocol on me in the afternoon and I went into labor at 2am that night. I've been working with her recently for my second pregnancy and she's been helping enormously with my pelvic pain and pubic symphysis pain. She has really good energy and makes a point of asking a lot of questions at the beginning of each session. In my experience, acupuncture doesn't hurt that much, unless she hits something really sensitive and then I make sure to let her know in the moment and she'll remove anything that feels like too much. The relief I've been getting for my pelvic pain more than makes up for the fear of needles that must be overcome---it's seriously like night and day when I've seen her.
