I grew up in the US eating at non-descript pho places, often named after seemingly arbitrary numbers. The atmosphere was spartan, sketchy even at times, but the food always more than compensated for that.
Fast forward to my life as an expat in Manila and it's been a long journey to find a good bowl of pho. The mall chains kill the craving but never really satisfy. I thought I wouldn't ever find a spot to fill the pho-shaped hole in my heart until I randomly decided to try this spot after Mass in Greenbelt.
The place looked super hip and colorful, almost like it was trying too hard. I was a little worried but I'm glad I went with my gut (literally) and came in for some Vietnamese goodness.
I ordered iced ginger and lemongrass tea (₱90) to go along with my bowl of beef pho (₱450). Yes, the prices are a bit steep but they are totally worth how high quality and fresh the ingredients were.
The tea packed a real punch and didn't seem watered down at all.
The pho was amazing. Normally I taste the broth before adding any hoisin or sriracha to see if it can stand on its on. The broth here definitely could. There was also a generous serving of noodles, garnish, beef, and fresh herbs. My only gripe was that the noodles were a tad harder than I was used to but it still didn't ruin the meal.
Service was attentive though it took awhile for me to get my bill. It was understandable though given how busy the restaurant was. Can't wait to go again! read more
