Prometric Testing Center tests how long you can sit in a room without a beverage, smart phone, companionship, music, or possessions while under the eyes of an examiner. This is the secondary test to the tests that the Prometric Testing Center administers. This is one of the testing centers in Las Vegas that administers the Praxis Core exams for teacher applicants. In recent times, I spent a Saturday sitting through the three parts of the Praxis Core exam: reading, writing, and math. This would be my closest experience to sitting in jail. After the experience that this review describes I would no longer take my freedom for granted. The Prometric Testing Center experience started a couple of weeks ahead of physically visiting the office. A couple of weeks prior to the date of the exam, I called up the Praxis number to make an appointment with the Prometric Testing Center. During the phone call, I took care of the payment with my credit card. Applying for the three core exams costed $135 at the time. Fast forward to the test date, all my information was ready. I recommend getting to the test center early. It blends in with the industrial park in a building at the northwest corner of Valley View at Martin Avenue. There are zero landmarks or characteristics to distinguish it. The best thing I could tell you is that if you are taking an exam here, look for the office in the building facing Shuster Street. During the weeks leading up to the test, I did research. The books hammered it into my head that I would be here a long time. This is not the place that you want to be at thirsty or hungry. I felt that treating myself to a large breakfast ahead of the text was extraordinary beneficial. Throughout the Praxis Core testing experience, the staff was pleasant at the same time that they were by the books and were not playing games. I would surrender to their authority for a few hours. The Prometric Testing Center was much more thorough than the TSA inspections at the airport. After filling out the paperwork, I relinquished my smartphone, watch, pen, and everything except my clothes. All my possessions would go into a locker. Then they did the rub down process to make sure I was not sneaking anything into the test center proper. The next order of business was when they walked me into the testing room. They locked the door. It was only me, a computer, scrap paper pamphlet, pencil, and my brains. This test center is so by the books that I would have to turn in the scrap paper. At the time of the three separate core exams-each timed with a window on the monitor counting down the seconds-an examiner would be watching me through the window. If it was necessary to use the restroom, I would have to communicate by raising my hand. The testing itself was state-of-the-art. I actually enjoy this, actually a better word is "tolerate" this more than the CAT tests I took in school. As a test taker, I appreciated the ability to go back and forth between the questions and review them without a pencil and eraser. The math section also included a calculator window. When I felt that I was done with the test, I hit "submit" on the computer and raised my hand. Between the three core exams, there was a small break. I would have to go through the exact procedure to get back inside the computer room. Following the conclusion of the exam, the staff was pleasant and let me know that the scores would soon be available. In retrospect, I understand that Prometric Testing has two customers with customer one being me-the test taker and customer two being the Board of Education. When writing this review, I understand that Prometric Testing Center has a binding contract with the Board of Education to guarantee that there is zero unethical behavior going on such as cheating. My test taking here is evidence that Prometric Testing Center is doing a satisfactory job administering the Praxis Core exam. If only my math comprehension was at the same level as their exam administration, I wouldn't have to return to additional quasi-jail time to retake the math core. read more

I had to go to Prometric to take my Project Management Professional (PMP) test in March. This is the only place in the area for computer based testing for the PMP, so it's not like I can recommend going somewhere else. Computer based testing centers are pretty bland, and they are all mostly the same. This one wasn't too much different than the one I went to in Puyallup in Washington a few years ago for my CAPM certification. The only difference was that this one actually had a dedicated employee watching in at us and at the monitors that taped us taking tests. Very intimidating! The reason why I'm giving this place an above average score was that I was such a bundle of nerves during this test (I've been prepping for this test for a long long time and was a big deal to me) that I was in the bathroom a lot and they were nice to me about it. read more

They are very strict in regards to the name on your ID matching the name that you registered with.To prevent any problems questions, I would print out all confirmation emails, receipts, etc. and to bring them with you. There were 2-3 female employees here when I went, alternating what job to do. They were very nice to me. You need to sign out/in for breaks and for the test I had to take, you could take however many breaks you wanted as long as you didn't go past the amount of time allotted for your test. I took the Hesi A2, by the way. Also, if you take the Hesi A2 test, you need to know your online log-in and password for the site you used to register for the test. ::: PROS Parking is NOT in confusing a parking garage Not in a busy part of town Easy to find/navigate through parking lot Water cooler w/ cups Clean bathroom Lockers available for putting your things Comfortable seating Use of dry erase boards for problem solving, good pens too ::: CONS Computers were kind of old Headphones were available to block out noise, but were uncomfortable and I did not personally see them get cleaned Did not allow me to print my test results there Overall, I had a decent experience and would recommend this testing center. I'm hesitant to say "yay!" about a prometric center, because nobody is ever really happy to be here, but given the circumstances, this is as good as it is going to get. The ladies working were friendly but calm (don't want hyperactive people stressing you out even more on test day!). As with all prometric centers, they fingerprint and photograph you, have you sign in and out, have you turn your pockets out, etc. each time you go in and out of the testing room. Parking is easy and the site was relatively easy to find. The suite is on the back side of the lot, closer to Martin St than Wagon Trail. There isn't a big overhead sign, just the door sign, but the suite numbers are clearly marked. The center is small, with about 25 seats total. The waiting room is really small - the seats are close enough together that two tall people would probably bump knees if they sat facing each other. There is only one bathroom, so if someone drops a deuce (or if you need to), you're SOL (literally)! It was a little cold in the room (I get cold easily) - the thermostat said 74. The staff was bad. They almost did not allow me to take my test after producing a valid government ID. After I produced another form of ID, the lady still looked at me skeptically. It wasn't until my classmate stepped in to vouch for me that she finally allowed me to start my test. I question the training this registration lady received. Especially because I had no problem last year taking my USMLE Step 1 nor my COMLEX level 1 at this site. I thought my problem was an isolated incident and would have dismissed it as such. However, after speaking to many of my colleagues whom have also taken their tests there. I must agree that I question the training they are receiving. They are very rude when things don't go according to plan. The staff needs to be replaced and/or retrained. If you come, bring two forms of valid government issued ID. I'm an education student at Nevada State College, so I had to take the Praxis I test prior to being admitted into their teacher prep program. This is the only computer-based testing center available in the city. Essentially, this is a testing facility where individuals can go to take various tests that they may need to - be it an educational exam like myself, a real estate test, or pretty much anything in between. It is a good-sized facility with plenty of cubicles at which to take tests, and lockers in which to store your stuff while you take said test. There is even a waiting room, which is a pretty good size as well, while you wait for an area to open up at which you can test. While the facility itself is very nice, there are some major issues. First and foremost, both times when I had to call to make an appointment to take my test, the person on the other end of the phone clearly wasn't someone who had English as a first language. This made it difficult to understand the details of the conversation, and i had to have the person repeat stuff constantly. Furthermore, you have to make an appointment to take the test a ridiculous amount of time in advance. I called in mid-October, and couldn't get an appointment to take the test until early December (and keep in mind this is TIME SENSITIVE for me getting into the School of Education.) Lastly, I had to reschedule at one point, and the refund process was insanely frustrating and difficult. I got lots of contradictory messages and policies during the process. Getting a refund was a bigger ordeal than eventually and finally taking the test! There are also ridiculous measures the place goes to in order to prevent cheating before you go in to take the test. I admit, it is somewhat understandable, but quite frustrating as well. We're more-or-less forced to rely on this place since it is the only test-taking facility in town, but so much could be improved. Although I failed my test and will be back in a couple months the ladies at the front desk were very accommodating to my needs. I wanted a corner seat and they were able to get me one last minute. If you really want a particular seat I recommend you tell the girls as soon as you get there. read more

The ladies/proctors were nice and I know they're just doing their jobs. But the process itself is irritating. You get checked in like a prisoner. Checking your legs, pants, pockets. Sign in sign out process could take long and may take several minutes off for your allotted testing time. No food, drinks allowed which I understand. (So don't come here hungry!) And don't even attempt to take off your sweater. They'll take it away from you. I also wish they'll check the bathroom more often. It ran out of toilet paper and with the number of test takers, the bathroom could get dirty fast. Overall, not very pleasant experience taking the several hour test, but I'm glad it's over. I agree with previous reviews: ample space for parking, convenient location. Computers were kinda outdated. Noise reducing headphones were uncomfortable and I could still hear the noise from the computer fan and the clicking noise from the keyboards by other testers. Chairs are not exactly the most comfortable. I swear it made my hip pain worse. Should you have colds or allergic rhinitis, sorry for you, you're only allowed 2 sheets of facial tissues. This place files reports on users without informing them, thereby negating your test. I just found out a report was filed on me implying that I cheated on a test, which is impossible since it was an essay exam. No one told me I did anything wrong during my test (and the lady seemed so nice outwardly), so why was this filed?? No one knows. Now there will be a six week investigation during which time I have no scores to report, so I can't start school without those scores.. TESTERS BEWARE..don't go here. read more

My experience at the Las Vegas Prometric Testing Center was a very positive one. The facility is small and somewhat cramped but the staff is excellent. The two proctors had a very professional and empathetic disposition. They know the pressure the customers are under when they come to take their tests. Yes the screening process is a bit nerve racking but its necessary. The facility was very quiet for my exam and it was clean. I would definitely recommend this facility to test at. read more
