It makes me sick the way some people treat animals. Particularly those that make a living from them. As a horse owner they should be banned from ever owing them again in my opinion.

Minimal government funding is provided which is unfortunate as the organisation does so much for domestic and wild animals in Australia. They petition for animal rights and are actively involved in campaigns within Australia and abroad. The RSPCA's Sydney rescue centre is located at Yagoona. While it may be considered a trek for some, it is well worth the visit if you are looking for a dog, cat, rabbit, or even a horse! As an animal activist myself, I have adopted three animals from the RSPCA over the last 21 years and absolutely adore them! They all have had a funny character, personable and friendly nature and a love of family. Last year I adopted a cat from the RSPCA. I had been looking at their adoption site online and could search all the cats and kittens which were available for adoption in the Sydney region. I found a beautiful cat, but it was located in the Snowy Mountains. Despite this small setback, the RSPCA relocated her to their Sydney centre free of charge and I was able to adopt her within a few weeks! Adoption fees cost around $200 and include everything from vaccinations to the cost of purchasing the animal. The staff at Yagoona are all very friendly and have the best interests of the animals in mind. Ensuring a suitable match between owner and pet is a priority for them. There is even an RSPCA hospital located on site which is convenient for those who live close by. All the pets at the RSPCA are extra cute; we almost came back with a dog in an addition to a cat. Please keep in mind, if you are not in for the long haul, do not consider buying a pet. The girls here are WONDERFUL! It's always comforting to know you're leaving your friend in the hands of dog lovers! And they even have a backyard! I left her at day care for 4 hours in which she was walked for 15mins and it cost me $20 - I think we were lucky enough to get 1st time customer love! My pirate (french bulldog) got in the car happy and smelling great and tired after an eventful visit! All the other dogs are nice and clean! And we will most definitely be back and definitely recommending to all my FAV friends! Domo arigatou gozaimasu Maru-Maru!

Very reasonable prices for the inner west / Sydney and they do the most amazing job. Washed, styled, ears cleaned and toenails cut all for $58 per small dog. Even though my dogs are a pain when it comes to being groomed (which is why I gave up on trying to do it myself) these ladies are masters at wrangling feisty little bastards and making them look beautiful. Bows for the girls and scarves for the boys are included (super cute). They are really accommodating with drop-off and pick-up times around work schedules etc. They let the dogs mingle (clean on one side of the counter and dirty on the other, very courteous!) so if your dog is a trouble maker you might want to let them know. They have one strict rule and that is NO FLEAS! So make sure you get the frontline on your pups well ahead of their appointment. Can't recommend these guys enough. They also have speciality treatments like colour tinting, nail painting, mud baths etc for the super pampered pooch. Not to mention a shop with the cutest dog accessories from Japan and locally made doggy treats.
