The men and women of the RSPCA do a wonderful Job. Thank you on Behalf of the poor mistreated horses you rescued in the Mountains a few years ago. It makes me sick the way some people treat animals. The RSPCA is a non-profit organisation which relies on funding from the Australian public in order to rescue and re-home animals which have been abandoned, neglected or abused. Minimal government funding is provided which is unfortunate as the organisation does so much for domestic and wild animals in Australia. They petition for animal rights and are actively involved in campaigns within Australia and abroad. The RSPCA's Sydney rescue centre is located at Yagoona. While it may be considered a trek for some, it is well worth the visit if you are looking for a dog, cat, rabbit, or even a horse! As an animal activist myself, I have adopted three animals from the RSPCA over the last 21 years and absolutely adore them! They all have had a funny character, personable and friendly nature and a love of family. Last year I adopted a cat from the RSPCA. I had been looking at their adoption site online and could search all the cats and kittens which were available for adoption in the Sydney region. I found a beautiful cat, but it was located in the Snowy Mountains. Despite this small setback, the RSPCA relocated her to their Sydney centre free of charge and I was able to adopt her within a few weeks! Adoption fees cost around $200 and include everything from vaccinations to the cost of purchasing the animal. The staff at Yagoona are all very friendly and have the best interests of the animals in mind. Ensuring a suitable match between owner and pet is a priority for them. There is even an RSPCA hospital located on site which is convenient for those who live close by. All the pets at the RSPCA are extra cute; we almost came back with a dog in an addition to a cat. Please keep in mind, if you are not in for the long haul, do not consider buying a pet. What a HORRIBLE experience After 7 years of fundraising and cupcake days , my family needed RSPCA, so we went to Yagoona, with a very unwell dog, it was the most horrible and uncaring experience , leaving me in shock. The result was antibiotics and a diagnosis of diabetes. AND a "Euthanasia". My sisters so upset said they would take the dog home and hope . Next day, there was a marked improvement , but with still a way to go , I called the clinic at Yagoona and got Dee, who said she was the Practice Manager. To my great horror when I told Dee of the improvement and that we would like to now explore managing the diabetes , she spoke directly over me and said " But he is booked in at 3.15 today (Monday 2.3.2020)for Euthanasia" When I again tried to explain our wishes she again stated "he is too old , he is booked in for 3.15 we will see you then" I swiftly told her that this is not happening . When I asked to speak to the treating Vet Suzy, Dee said she would not be in until the end of the week. When my sisters called back to cancel the appointment they were asked by a receptionist to ring the treating Vet at 3.30pm yesterday (Monday 2.3.2020) So was the Vet in or not ?? As I asked Dee several questions, it became clear that in fact this woman had no idea of what she was saying, she clearly was not a vet . So , RSPCA asks community and people like me to fund raise on their behalf to HELP animals. But the truth is they treat disabled pensioners and the poor like my sisters with such disrespect and have no true desire to help . I will never raise another dollar or donate to these people . We did go to a Vet clinic that is helping our dog, and he IS getting better , it is costing thousands , but I am so glad I didn't give this money to the unworthy RSPCA I believe that RSPCA has lost my respect and trust , so I recommend you at least get a second opinion , your pets life may depend on it. Yagoona RSPCA They killed my dog. I had to surrender my dog. I did so to katoomba RSPCA. He was a placid and friendly dog. He passed all the re-homing tests at katoomba and was given the green light to be adopted. They sent him to yagoona for the adoption process. And less than a week later he was dead. The RSPCA are supposed to care for animals. I would of loved to keep my pet but was just unable. I phoned katoomba weekly to make sure he was coping. They said he is a lovely dog and the helpers there were very fond of him. He would have been re-homed easily. It wasn't just my dog either. Katoomba RSPCA sent 5 of their best dogs most likely to be adopted to yagoona and within 1 week they had put 4 of the 5 dogs to sleep. Shame on you yagoona. That was a low and despicable act read more
