The broth isn't as rich as some others and I appreciated that, but I did feel that it was missing a kick. Overall, I had a good experience and would dine here again. Choice of kaisen don, signature burger or shoyu ramen--the burger looked very tasty, but I was in the mood for Japanese food, so I chose the kaisen don 4. Homemade soft serve with choice of strawberry, mango or melon sauce--I chose melon, which was nice We also tried sparkling tea from Copenhagen, which was very refreshing. The restaurant was busy but the servers were friendly and we had a wonderful meal. Looking forward to trying more dishes next time.

They have the 19th St and 20th St galleries in Chelsea, as well as a gallery on Walker Street and another on E 69th. We stopped by the gallery on W 19th to see "The Great Unseen Collection: A Selection of Works from Joel and Carole Bernstein," which was great and included works by Milton Avery, Romare Bearden, Audrey Flack, Alex Katz, and Alice Neel! (The exhibition closes on June 13 if you want to see it.) The gallery was on the smaller side but very minimalist, clean, and beautiful. (Across the street from 525 W 19th, is another David Zwirner gallery at 533 W 19th that has an exhibit of Lisa Yuskavage, so stop by that location as well if you're interested!) After our visit, I signed up for David Zwirner's email newsletter so I can keep up with future exhibits. The gallery's shows are museum-quality, and I look forward to visiting again in the future!

My…read moreinitial thought was the Picasso exhibit at the location to the west of Central Park, but a friend told me about the Takashi Murakami Japonisme exhibit at the Gagosian which was near the Genesis House. Perfect! The Gagosian gallery area wasn't huge, but held a lot of pieces, both large and small. The staff encouraged me to not get too close, in order to protect the artwork, but I was still able to see the textures and to locate the little fun surprises hidden in the paintings. This was a great exhibit for even those who are not normally into art.

The reason the price was high because every single element of his Art makes people excited. Alexander Calder is the creator of the mobile, inspired by Piet Mondrian and Joan Miro. And the name 'mobile' given by Marcel Duchamp, very famous for the 'Fountain'. I was also very excited to see many art piece of Alexander Calder at once and never visited to buy and negotiate the price of the Art. My first time experience. He was one of the first videographers who chronicled his life in Downtown Manhattan's arts and club scene. He has hundreds of videos documented of his daily life in the city, including wild nights out on the town and private moments with his famous friends. For any NYC history buff's, check out his videos on YouTube under "5thavenueproject". It's like going back in time to see how the city and everyone used to be....way before iphones and social media. It's crazy to see his videos of NYC during this era and the moments of when he lived in Fort Gansevoort and what the meatpacking district looked like then. What a total different place it has become! Gentrification anyone? When I visited the house last year, the outside door still looks the same. The tree outside across the steps was planted by Nelson Sullivan when he moved into the home. It's huge now but very small in his videos. The bricks on the outside of the house look like originals too. I heard that the top floor of Fort Gansevoort has some pictures and memorabilia from Nelson Sullivan from the time he lived there. I'm glad they kept a section to keep his memory alive.

You learn about the artist, their expressive alphabet, how to 'read' the painting as a viewer, how their expressive style enriched over time, their inspirations and how they weave into the paintings and more. Comparing it to MoMa and the bigs are meal to patisserie comparison. When it hit the mark as it did here, Gagosian was a delightful experience.

When I was in my 20s, during my first visit to New York City, I met gallerists Andrea Rosen and…read moreTanya Bonakdar at their respective galleries in SoHo. Rosen's gallery was located on Prince Street. These days, most of the top galleries like Gagosian and Bonakdar's are located in Chelsea. But I kind of miss the old SoHo days, and the atmosphere in Chelsea is totally different - almost like another world. Most of all, I miss Rosen's SoHo gallery. When I visited, she came out from the back and discussed the artist whose work she was exhibiting at the time, Miguel Calderon. I remember really liking his work. She also simultaneously showed the work of Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle. I read somewhere that Rosen has donated her archives to the Smithsonian's Archives of American Art. And while she no longer appears to have a physical gallery, it seems like she still represents (the estate of) Felix Gonzalez-Torres. Honestly, I wish she would reopen the gallery at some point. Rosen and her perspectives on art were a huge inspiration years ago.

It's very generous--I got a full tour of a fascinating show, "Counter Forms," with works by Tetsumi Kudo, Alina Szapocznikow, Paul Thek and Hannah Wilke, all of whom worked in different parts of them world, died youngish and were forgotten in the 90s but making a comeback now. And they deserve it: weird materials and biomorphic forms, industrail waste and synthetic pigments, intriguing use of slightly sickening colors and textures--a fertile mix of mad-science lab and contemplative poetry that seems to speak to the ways in which artists are dealing with the relationship between bodies and technologies now. Usually Andrea Rosen has a few shows up at once - a big one in the front, medium in the middle, and a selection of works by different artists in the showroom in the far rear, which means you're guaranteed to find SOMEthing to like on any given visit. For 'Counter Forms," however, the whole gallery was devoted to this single group exhibition. But it's definitely worth it! so much to see. There is also a small appendix across the street. I feel like the narrowness of this space makes it slightly awkward. It's smaller than any of the spaces across the street, even the little showroom in the back. I haven't felt really impressed or moved by a show here yet but, it's new so maybe they'll get the hang of it (no pun intended!).

My wife (Won-ok) and I had a surprisingly good time at the Museum of Illusions a few weeks ago…read more I've got to admit: It was not a place I would have ever cared to see. I've always been bad at math and science, and I've never had much use for illusions. I thought the museum was about magic tricks or something, but, fortunately, I was wrong. I'm so glad we checked this place out. The highlight of the day was the photo opp at the "Illusion Street Station" of the NY subway system. A very kind and enthusiastic staffer named Julie encouraged us to experience that exhibit, and even took awesome photos for us that are absolutely going up on our walls. She also explained the basic of what we were looking at, and kept it in simple terms so a math/science-challenged guy like me could understand. I learned a few cool nuggets on those subjects but that was all I could absorb. That doesn't matter, though, because the museum achieved its objective with me -- sparking curiosity and a desire to learn more about the subjects it covers. Won-ok loved it, by the way, because she is all about the world of illusions. If you're looking for a completely unexpected treat in New York, stop by the Museum of Illusions -- unless it's not really there.
