It was so reassuring to start the process with Project Management Academy--it immediately lifted the pressure and fear of not knowing where to begin. From day one, they provided a complete package of structured materials and resources that give you a clear roadmap to prepare for the exam and build confidence along the way. The bootcamp itself was intense, immersive and highly focused. It does a great job of pushing you to engage deeply with the material and I do think it would have benefited from an additional day dedicated specifically to exam strategies and final preparation techniques to help reinforce everything learned. Gregg D. Richie was especially supportive and knowledgeable throughout the journey. He was always available to nudge you in the right direction--not only with the course material but also with the application process, navigating the platform and understanding how to best prepare for the exam. His guidance made the overall experience much smoother and more approachable. The time-boxed 230-minute practice exams were very useful in helping adjust expectations around pacing and exam pressure. However, some of the questions felt repetitive, which made it easier to recognize patterns rather than fully test understanding in new ways. Additionally, a few questions appeared outdated and not fully aligned with the latest exam versions, which occasionally impacted scoring and confidence since those topics were not as relevant in current practice. Overall, I would definitely recommend Project Management Academy as a strong foundation to get started and build baseline knowledge. There is so much content I think it would be much more challenging for most students to take the course online. I took the course with Gregg Richie in April, applied for my test immediately following then hit the books for two months. The PMA site has a lot of resources but was not my only source of study materials. Happy to say that yesterday I passed AT/AT/AT with an hour to spare on my first attempt. If I can do it, you can! I didn't intend to sign up for the course with Scott but just got lucky as he was teaching the dates I was intending to take the class. I would say that the 75% of the learning was completed in the Bootcamp and the remaining 25% was self-studying which helped me pass the class. Scott is an amazing instructor who pinpoints exactly the key contents which are important for the exam. This bootcamp is a great way to prepare for the PMP exam. If you're totally unfamiliar with the PMI jargon for project management it's also a great way to get a fast and dirty overview of the PMI Project Management Framework. Gregg Richie delivered my course and was clearly a very experienced and lively tutor. He cares about supporting all his students achieve their goals - Thank you Gregg! Do be aware about what this class is not, however, it is not a course in how to improve your PM skills. Would probably recommend a certificate program with the UW for something like that. I took the PMP boot camp from Gregg Ritchie in June 2017 (end of June i believe). I must say the class was incredibly helpful in passing my PMP in Feb 2018. I took 6 months to start prepping for my exam but if it wasn't for Gregg's teaching, i would have not passed my PMP. Most of the people take the exam a month or two after the training but i took it in Feb 2018 and passed! This speaks volumes how awesome is Gregg's class and teaching style. I took the 4-day bootcamp through PMA with Gregg Richie as my instructor back in November of 2019. The class structure was good -- there was a significant amount of very dry information for us to get through in 4 days, and Gregg made it as interesting, fun, and applicable as he could. This course is, in my opinion, the best way to prepare for the PMP exam. It's not a course for improving your PM skills; it stays laser focused on everything you need to pass the exam -- so you should only sign up if your goal is to pass and get your PMP credential. I have a few friends and co-workers who have taken other courses / studied by themselves for the PMP exam, and they were impressed with the structure of the course as I described it to them. I remain incredibly impressed with the massive treasure-trove of information, videos, practice tests, etc available on the PMA site after the course. I passed the PMP exam on my first try with Above Target in all areas. I attended the bootcamp course in June of 2016. My teacher was named Greg and he is former Navy. The reason why I like that about him is I feel the military has a strategic approach to everything and this is perfect when you are pursuing your PMP certificate. Greg is a great, charismatic teacher. His teaching style is straight to the point. I guess I am biased because I am like that :). He guides you through the important topics that you must focus on in order to prepare for the exam. He teaches the material in a way where the time does not seem to drag by. I was engaged every day of the class. It was wonderful to be able to take the class locally ( Seattle). The entire staff at the academy has been a delight to interact with. Also, the online videos are wonderful. The teacher makes everything easier to understand by using mind mapping which is great if you are a visual learner. Often times, some teachers make subjects more complicated than they are. I am so glad that this teacher was not like that. I love that they offered tutoring after the class was over. Just knowing that someone is available to offer support is comforting. Another aspect that I liked is the website was iphone and ipad friendly, so if I wanted to take one of their practice exams with my ipad or iphone, I could. Before I took the bootcamp class, I attended an online class via Simplilearn. The teach was also good, but this kind of material I think must be learned in person. It is extremely dense. I read several different book (Rita M, Andy, the PMBOK) I used a lot of different apps to help train my mind to subconsciously remember the processes and where they go within the knowledge areas. What the academy's bootcamp class gave me was a more refined study roadmap to prepare for my actual test date. There is an incredible amount of material to understand and/or memorize. Without this roadmap, I would have been overwhelmed. You must have a plan in order to tackle this certification. I am so glad that I found the academy online. I took this class in October 2015 (with Doug P!) and it taught me many things, one of which was that I had a MUCH longer road of studying before me than I thought I did. Location: The Marriott was a great location for this class. The parking was free, there is a café inside the lobby, and the room was comfortable. Content: I passed the test on the first try, so that tells you something! The resources PMA offers are phenomenal. The online videos were an amazing help for me to structure my studying. The content of the class made everything MUCH more understandable and relatable than it would have been if I had just tried to use books available. PMA was able to cram a ton of information in 4 days, and magically, in a way that sticks! Instructor: Gregg Richie was SUCH a great instructor! He was very approachable during and after the class when I had questions, and he explained everything in terms I could easily digest. For the last 2-3 years, it was always a task in my to-do-list to sit for the PMP test and somehow being busy at work and then family relocation from one side of the world to another, this never happened! I took a 4 days PMP bootcamp course. The tutor was good, material provided was detailed and there was ample training material. Yet be cautious about the course itself. As I felt a bit tricked into up-selling and found the value vs. money disappointing: 1) When I booked in December for a training in begin February I wasn't told that PMP version 6 was due in mid March. When I completed the course, I only have few weeks between the course completion and the last exam date for PMP version 5. Which left me with little time to study after the course and taking the exam. Of course I got selected for an audit which means that I cannot book a slot until PMI approves my application. So I'm currently at risk of missing the last PMP version 5 date. If I was told by PMA that version 6 was due soon, I would have waited and would have gone straight for version 6. 2) The price for a 4 days PMP boot camp is very steep (1,895USD) and it comes without breakfast, lunch or dinner. Comparison: I took a 3 days SCRUM course for 600USD and this came full catered. As the PMP training goes from 8:30am till 6pm, some food would have been good. 3) The course is without PMP exam fee! This wasn't clear when booking. 4) PMA suggested that I should take a 5th day training @ 245USD. It wasn't clear that this was a repetition of earlier covered content (EVM) which has little for me. Also this '5th day' is not a real day. It's a 6 hours webinar and starts at 6am PST. read more

It has been a personal goal of mine for a couple of years now to get my PMP certification and as of this afternoon I finally accomplished it! Yeah! I signed up for online classes through PMA because I was able to get a good price for it - look for coupons online, I got $200 off - and because the courses were offered on the weekends so I didn't have to take any time off work. I assumed most PMP boot camps would be the same, but I was wrong - PMA is the best! As part of the class materials you get a binder with the slides and information you cover in class, plus cheat sheets and study guides; a copy of the PMBOK; an exam strategy guide; flash cards; and access to an online database with practice exams, mini lessons, quizzes, study sessions, and a build-your-own-exam feature so you can define what topics to be tested on. Personally I attended classes, read the binder, reviewed all mini lessons and completed the subsequent quizzes, built a couple of my own exams on specific topics, and did three full length practice exams. I also made absolute sure to memorize all the formulas and processes so I could recreate them on the scrap paper provided at the test center. I know this might sound like a lot but the preparation made it so I passed on the first try. I have taken online classes before that were a struggle to sit through so I was a little nervous about how it was going to be, especially for a subject/exam that I knew was intense. Let me just say the online format was not an issue at all. Instructor Lenora Holmsten was of course informative and clear but the best part was she put a lot of her own stories and clever tricks into it. Like others have mentioned I heard her voice during certain parts of the exam, reminding me of key words or mnemonic devices which was super useful and helped calm my nerves. Also I loved how she actually got excited about the material because it made me get into it too - like when we were talking about fast tracking I made a comment about how I was managing a project and dealing the issues that come with fast tracking at the time and she laughed like "oh no! We've all been there, haha!" I mean really who laughs at material like that? Haha! Apparently Lenora, and it's awesome. Her positivity made me feel engaged and like I was really doing a good job and "getting" the material. She was also very encouraging when I was feeling overwhelmed and self-deprecating. AND she provided the most helpful nine page study guide, that she created herself (told you she is enthusiastic!), which was the perfect package of information to memorize for the test, and when I told her I passed she wrote back right away with how happy she was and how she knew I'd do well. Seriously, I've never met her but she's one of the best teachers I've ever had. The studying, which I thought would be the most daunting part, was relatively simple because the materials PMA provides are just that good. You just have to dedicate the time to go through it all. I especially loved the online tutorials that broke everything down by process and had mini quizzes after each step of the way so I could test my retention and grasp of the content. Seriously could not recommend this place enough. Yes, making the first step towards gaining your PMP certification can be scary; but if you take the step to sign up for classes with PMA, you'll be in good shape. read more
