I was a patient at this office and only very recently left because we moved out of the area. A lot…read moreof the doctors and staff are fine, but one recent incident was completely inappropriate and has left me feeling very uncomfortable. During a brief insurance lapse of just a few weeks, when my 2-year-old with asthma began coughing, I reached out for help getting his usual medication -- and the entire experience was unnecessarily cold, bureaucratic, and dismissive. I was told that because I hadn't filled that prescription since April (less than a year ago), we'd need to come back in person, even though it was clearly on record. I was also told there were no refills left, but CVS confirmed there actually was one -- which they refused to transfer from our old pharmacy on Long Island. When I tried to clarify what to do next, the front desk repeatedly talked over me -- even after I calmly said, "I'm still speaking" -- and then hung up. A doctor called back at one point and left a voicemail saying, "Call if you need anything," but when I did, I was told the doctor wouldn't speak with me and that I'd need to wait until Monday for the office manager. It's now Wednesday, and no one has called me back. Most concerningly, I was repeatedly shamed for not taking my son to a local doctor -- even after explaining that we were temporarily uninsured and trying to avoid hundreds of dollars in fees for what should have been a simple refill of a medication already on record, prescribed for a 2-year-old child with asthma. One staff member even accused me of not bringing my son in for months, which was both untrue and completely inappropriate. He is fully up to date on all well visits and vaccines per AAP guidelines -- I simply hadn't needed to bring him in because he hadn't been sick until now. The lack of compassion and communication was deeply disappointing. I'm a concerned mother trying to prevent my toddler's asthma from turning into something serious while waiting a few days for insurance to restart. It shouldn't take this much effort, or meet this much indifference, to get a necessary medication for a young child. Ironically, the same week this happened, the office was still calling and texting me to schedule well visits -- so perhaps their systems, and their approach to patient care, both need some reevaluation.

This office was referred to me by a close friend who has two young children, but I didn't want to go to the first office referred to me right off the bat. That is why I placed several calls to other pediatrician offices. This office immediately stood out. And now, even after going for my son's two month wellness check up, I know for sure I made the right decision. Right off the bat, from my initial call, the office manager was extremely informative. She sent me paperwork prior to our first visit and let me know how things would go about after my son was born. I was instantly relieved as they explained what needs shortly after birth. Our first visit (and the others right after, because our son was a bit on the smaller side) were just as informative as my initial phone call. I also had a visit with their lactation specialist who was super cool, easy-going, and very reassuring. She is there every Tuesday, and you could book an appointment just to see her or book an appointment to see her on the same day your child has and appointment. They also have a great protocol put into place for COVID. You wait in your car and once you arrive you text the office to check-in. They text you back with a number for where you can wait in the waiting room. Appointments are very well spaced out and I feel safe visiting each time. They have several doctors at the practice, and we've seen three of them so far and they all have been great. The nurse staff is awesome as well. After today's two month check up I noticed that our nurse recognized our son, which was very refreshing. The office itself is very clean, and fun for children. Each room has a different theme and there's also a huge fish tank in the center of the waiting room, very entertaining for children. Finally, I do have to speak to their telehealth system. A few weeks back we had a question and didn't know if it was serious enough to bring our baby boy in. We set up the app and booked a telehealth appointment and within 30 minutes we saw one of the doctors, virtually. He was empathetic that we were first time parents and reassured us that our baby was OK and we were doing a good job. If I could praise this place more I would. I am super comfortable with my baby being treated here, and look forward to him growing with this office.

Even though they were busy, they were quick, attentive, and friendly. Since it was our first time being there, I was dreading mountains of paperwork with a sick 1 year old, but the questions were asked quickly and efficiently without me having to lift a finger. Once I got into a room, I was immediately met by the Doctor who quickly and efficiently examined our daughter, all the while walking me through every step of the way. The doctor spoke to me, and discussed his concerns and direction of thinking with me instead of just going ahead and doing everything. The doctor was amazing with our daughter, and she acted like she knew him for the entire length of her time on this earth! The nurse who provided our daughter with the breathing treatments was wonderful, a big smile on her face the entire time and made our daughter laugh. The x-ray technician who has obvious experience with little ones getting x-rays was chipper and fun, and our daughter was immediately drawn to him. The reception staff was polite, friendly, and kind. Since we have moved down here, my husband and I have been met with our fair share of disgruntled employees at doctors offices and labs. This was the FIRST time (aside from her usual pediatrician) that the entire office was friends, quick, and attentive. And above all, WONDERFUL. Hopefully we wont need to be returning here anytime soon, but this place is first on our list should the time come again. I highly recommend them. They are wonderful!

What was most upsetting was how impatient and insensitive she was with my autistic son. She made no effort to understand or accommodate his needs, which is unacceptable in any pediatric setting. Her cold and unprofessional attitude made an already stressful situation worse. I will not be bringing my child back, and I would not recommend her to any parent-- especially those with children who require a bit more compassion and patience.

I've met with all four practitioners - Dr. Renna, Dr. Shapiro, Dr. Davis, and Lori the NP. I do have a favorite but I will not say who. ;) They really are all so warm and extremely knowledgeable. The nurses are generally very nice and sweet. I did have a small issue with one who shall not be named. She seemed like she was getting visibly upset and very annoyed with my special needs child because he had trouble staring at the vision screener for anything longer than 5 seconds. While it did make me uncomfortable a bit, it is easy to shrug off because honestly I just have way too much going on in my life to sweat small stuff like that. Plus, trust me... I get the frustration. The front desk staff is very good in terms of answering the phone, assist in getting paperworks and forms filled, and setting up appointments. It is a busy practice so sometimes there may be a short wait to be connected with them on the phone. I will say that in the past I've notice their office line shutting off before the office even closes... which is not cool. But alas, I've never had trouble getting same day appointments for a sick child which is HUGE. I do wish they have later appointment times during the week though. They have Saturday appointments which is nice as well. Their turnaround time for filling out forms is usually pretty quick too, typically within 2-3 business days. Overall, I love this practice and have recommended to many other people.

We've also seen Dr. Davis and Nurse Lori as well as other medical staff members. Each one is excellent, and we had been delighted to have them as our boys' doctors over the years. However... this is now a conglomerate owned practice and the service is nothing short of awful. Here's what happened two days ago on Thursday April 11, 2024.... I called to set appointments for my boys during the mid-morning hours, not overnight after hours. Got Andre in the Philippines who was very hard to understand. Took a while but he eventually found their records. I asked him what age they see patients up to. He responded "Age 23", and we made the appointments for both boys on Friday April 19th, at 3pm and 3:15pm with Dr. Shapiro. We always book together, back to back, since it is a 2 & 1/2 hour roundtrip to go there and back from where we live. We confirmed the appointments and thought we were all set. 10 minutes later my older son tells me that he got a text saying his appointment is on May 3rd with Dr. Renna! (WTH?) I call back, of course I CANNOT GET THE OFFICE - I get the Philippines again. This time a woman who is even harder to understand. She has no idea who Andre is and can't even find my boys' records in the system. Despite me telling her over and over again that we just booked the appointments 15 minutes earlier! Finally she finds them and says they ARE booked for the different days. I explain the distance situation, she doesn't seem to care (button pusher / order taker mentality). I ask her to change my older son's appointment back to 3:15pm on April 19th, she says she cannot do that, "They are set now". RIDICULOUS!! I ask her to connect me directly to the Dr's office, she says "No, I cannot do that." What the hell has this practice turned into?? You can't even get someone at the office to talk to! I keep insisting to talk to the office, so she puts me on hold while she calls the office..... she comes back on the line and says, "I spoke to the office and they said I can now transfer you to them." She transfers me and I get Casey (She) on the phone, she confirms that she is physically in the office. I explain the situation and what is going on. She says "Hold on while I see what happened." She comes back on and says "We cannot see you, we have to cancel both appointments." "What, why?!" I ask. Her response is that my older boy is 22 and they don't see patients that age. (Never mind that my younger son is only 19, she cancels him too!) I tell her how that is ridiculous, we just booked them 20 minutes ago! I also say to her "Doesn't your practice see patients up until age 23?" She replies "Yes, but your boys haven't been here in a couple of years, so we can't see them. You have to find new Doctors." WTF?!? I persist, asking "What the time gap has to do with anything. Renna and Shapiro have been their Doctors since they were born! They have never gone to anyone else!" Casey didn't care. She said "You had a gap in the visits so now we consider them "new patients" and we don't see new patients over the age of 18." WTH!?!? I reply, "They are not 'new patients', they have been going there since they were born!" We argue over this. I point out "Would you see younger patients if they didn't come for a couple of years?" She replies "Yes", I say "Then there is no difference! What does it matter if they are 9 or 19?! A time gap is a time gap." She says she will check with the Office Manager. She comes back on and says, "My manager said 'No, you have to find new Doctors. Your boys are new patients because you had a time lapse in visits'." What bullshit is that!!?? They are not new patients!! They've been going there since birth! If I don't see my Doctor for a long time and then I go see that same Doctor after several years, they do not consider me a new patient!! I relay that bit of logic and wisdom to Casey, she doesn't care. I ask her to please let me speak to the office manager, she refuses. I ask her again for the office manager or one of the Doctors, she again refuses and says, "You cannot speak to them. You have to find new Doctors somewhere else." And hangs up. My whole family was stunned.

She told me after todays visit to go and see a "big boy doctor" due to my age and because I haven't been there in a while. I also heard Dr. Choset making snide comments in the other room while I was waiting. If they didn't want to see me they should not have taken my appointment, I would've went somewhere else! Clearly their staff is not all on the same page. The attitude was so unnecessary.

My childhood best friend had a beautiful baby boy, and I attended a Brit Mila ceremony conducted by…read moreDr. Dania Rumbak. In conversations before the bris, I knew that my friend was nervous about the process, the ceremony, and the actual circumcision. I can say with confidence that Dr. Rumbak put the family's mind at ease both with her expertise and her gentle approach. As a "spectator" at the ceremony, Dr. Rumbak passed around sheets so we can all follow along and feel part of the ceremony, and explained what different blessings meant. She also added some Jewish text in a modern and relevant way, which I appreciated, and my family continued to discuss post ceremony. The sweet baby did super well and was calm throughout the entire process. Truthfully, I didn't even know when the actual circumcision actually happened because she was so gentle and discrete. At the end of the ceremony, many people went up to Dr. Rumbak to compliment her on one of the best brit mila's they ever went to, and many asked for her card (including my mom for our temple!). She has a great business partner in Shachar, who socialized with the guests of the ceremony, kept everything organized, and was just an all around stand up guy. Oh, and how great that she is a mohel AND a doctor. Talk about putting your mind at ease..that will definitely do it. Highly recommend.

Would have loved so much to give a glowing review of Dr. Rumbak but unfortunately we look back on…read morethe day of my son's bris and what transpired after with a lot of sadness. Dr. Rumbak deserves credit and thanks for her discretion in not circumcising our son the day of his bris due to a urological condition she noticed in her ore-ceremony examination. We are thankful for that. She performed what essentially worked out to a baby naming ceremony for us. Obviously the day was emotional to begin with and the news she couldn't circumcise was extremely disappointing and heartbreaking since this was a day we looked forward to for so long. In the days after the bris we were able to absorb the events better and realized exactly what happened. To begin with, my wife asked for a program to keep as they were being collected (yes, collected), and the response was, "I collect them." She said the same to my mom (baby's grandma). We consider this ridiculous - even if the baby's grandparents couldn't have one, at least the parents should. When I emailed Dr. Rumbak about the issue I'm about to describe, I also mentioned the program and that part of my email was left unaddressed. Here's the major problem, though. We paid $800 for a circumcision plus $150 for travel from Manhattan to Nassau. We were happy to do this because we really liked Dr. Rumbak on the phone. However, after the bris, we had a bit of a realization that really irked us. Why were we never offered any kind of refund for the circumcision not being performed? It really should have been offered that day, on the spot, but it wasn't. Days and weeks turned to months and we still were never offered anything. We didn't even get an email or phone call to check on our son given the medical issue Dr. Rumbak identified. This was surprising given the emotional nature of the day but also because part of Dr. Rumbak's service (advertised on her web site and vouched for in her reviews) is her frequent follow up with the family. Finally after a few months, I emailed her explaining we feel we are owed some kind of refund due to the most critical part of the ceremony, the circumcision, not being performed. It is that expertise for which we paid. Dr. Rumbak issued a $200 refund, saying that the rate for a baby naming is $600. It's unfortunate such a beautiful day was soured by the experience we had. As new parents we feel we were, in a way, taken advantage of. Dr. Rumbak did ultimately give some money back, but we feel we shouldn't have had to ask. Experiences like this are what make people cynical about organized religion. The right thing to do would have been to give us a refund without us having to ask. We would not recommend her.
