And I too got to experience the scrappyness of it all. After collecting much scrap metal over a period of time, my husband and I loaded our trailer and headed over on a very hot summer day. You drive in on a large scale the size of three cars and it weighs your vehicle, after supplying your identification and getting your before weight, you drive over to the piles of scrap and toss all of it to the large piles and "the claw" takes it away...all of this being tin. Any other metals (copper and aluminum) you want to save and take to another area, as those are worth more. This seemed a little expensive and many of the companies were chains. Then we found Shred-All. Shred-All is a local Orlando company. We found them easy to reach--no weird phone dialing options--and communicative. They gave us a day and a time estimate and were right on time to shred our items on site. Best of all? They were easy to price. They asked if my items would fit in a standard garbage can. Yes, they did. $60! All for friendly and expedient service right to my garage door. When you fill your dumpster they pick it up and place it on the scale and then inside the screened area, someone operates a computer. Sometimes you have to wait, but nobody organizes anything. It's all a guessing game over there. No signs, no taped lines or anything to help you out. After the person hands you paper, you walk over to a window and then an older lady, who doesn't say a single word takes your paper, disappears for several minutes and then she hands you your money and she runs off. You have no chance to ask any questions about your payment or even to say goodbye. It's like they gave "Mama" a job to do and she acts like a robot or a programmed victim of brainwashing. They run a shoddy operation, it's unprofessional, nobody talks to you, greets you or explains anything to you. If they told you to screw yourself that would almost be an improvement. They bring you a dumpster, weight your stuff and pay you without much interaction as if they prefer to get you in and out and paid before you can think about what you've done. If they'd be more personable, willing and available to talk to customers and post some signage providing directions, clean up that piece of crap house and design an entryway that wasn't so damn embarrassing then maybe I'd consider going back there. If they can't talk to people or they prefer not to then they should all work from home or someplace where they don't have to think about the customer's point of view and providing customer service. And the lady behind the glass needs to go.

I was pleasantly surprised the exterior of the dumpster was in relatively good condition, straight walls, recently painted, doors that actually opened with no effort and the latches actually lined up. The driver asked if I wanted it as close as possible to the house, or leave a little room so the doors can open? They didn't seem in a rush, and showed me how the doors open and showed me there is a latch to keep doors open. There was some broken glass inside upon delivery, but hey its a dumpster. I just swept to towards rear, 15 seconds with a push broom fixed that. To compare, years ago, I rented from another company (will remain nameless to protect the guilty) and walls bowed a foot or two, door welded shut, peeling paint, and a need for a tetanus shot if you get too close. I'm glad I went with Bin There dump that. Having a dumpster in my driveway, I had 4 neighbors approach me as they need one and they wanted to know cost but didn't have enough stuff to fill up a dumpster. We talked about getting the large one and have everyone chip in for it. I told them to give them a call, maybe they could deliver the big one and pick up mine on same trip.
