Had an appointment August 27th 2025 and in October and I am still being billed 2 times a month, every month, since those 2 appointments by New York Health and New York Cancer and Blood Specialists for various amounts of money. Dr. K and the people who work there are very nice and do a good job, but how many more bills am I going to get for a visit in August 25' - Bills for $50 and $15.66 rec'd in the mail today and it's February 2026! Terrible place. The doctor didn't give me the correct diagnosis for my insurance to cover the test. Consequently, I received a bill for $220. I tried contacting them for help regarding this, but they keep saying they will look into it and end up doing nothing about it. They don't care. Poor, Poor, Poor service and care. read more

Avoid this place like plague! They don't even match their signing in sheet, give you appointments and don't honor it themselves. I had a bleeding on surgical area. They gave me appointment. I waited for three hours on Dec 3 2021 only to be told doctor isn't there and that too when I asked them. I thought that was one-off. Was asked to come on Dec 6. I waited again on Dec 6, and when I asked, was told doctor wasn't there. Why would you even book an appointment if the doctor isn't there on that day in the first place? Secondly, why won't you tell the patient from sign in sheet that they are basically going to die waiting unless they speak up? The way around this unprofessional place is to keep calling and confirming that the doctor is there or not before you leave for your appointment. read more

Stay away. The previous reviewer is correct that Dr. Chan is great. But he is gone. In fact no doctors are available, only nurse practitioners or physician assistants. No issue with them but I asked to see a doctor -- answer was there is none. I asked for medical records to share with a new doctor, but after 10 days the doctor has not even looked at the records. I was recommended to this doctor by a friend who is a patient here. We came from Manhattan and what a positive experience. Mary at the front desk is a rock star. Very diligent, empathetic, professional and patient. She was efficient in helping me with my paperwork and any questions and concerns I had for my husbands visit. It was nice to come to an office where the vibe was positive. As for the Technician Katy OMG WHAT A DOLL. She was so kind empathetic and sweet to my husbands needs. I felt as though I was with family with her. She was professional, diligent and patient. As for the nurses, PA and other staff they were all on the ball and worked hard to ensure a patients comfort ability. And finally got the DOC. Dr. Kessaris thank you for being patient in hearing me explain all that my husbands has gone through. I know it was a busy day but you were kind and patient and well worth the drive from Manhattan. Absolutely terrible communications of results with scheduling, and with post surgical lab test coordination and results. Not sure if the front desk and admin staff is overwhelmed or what, but the office seems quite inefficient and uncaring to its customers. Had a call to come in for a consult with my doctor, was told he wanted to see me after the surgery to go over test analysis. Upon arriving, i paid my co-pay. Then the office realized they never gave a referral for the post-surgical lab test. So this was a premature visit and was told cannot refund money for the visit and that it would be credited for a future visit. Righhhtttttt.... Went and did my post-surgical labs and never got a call from the office with my results. I finally called the office and the automation system instructed me to check the patient portal. I go to the patient portal and it had broken links. Were it not for the skills of Doctor Chan, and some of the medical providers, I would give zero stars if I could. read more

Immediately after the visit began, I had a urine test, followed by a sonogram to "prove" that I had urinated. I was moved from room to room for minor examinations without seeing the doctor or without anybody explaining the examinations. When I finally saw Emmanuel Lincifort, he was on a phone call in the middle of our meeting, discussing very private information with this "doctor" while he was continuing his phone call. Awful. Ever since Dr. Chan left, this place is a hot mess. No wonder he wanted to leave! Firstly, I've been a patient with this practice for almost 8 years. At my last visit, they left me in the exam room for 2 hours and never bothered to tell the doctor I was there. I kept asking when I would be seen and they kept saying the doctor was coming but she never came. Then, they took several days to call me with results after I was promised I would get a callback the first day I inquired. And now they are taking several days to refill my meds. If I get another kidney stone because I've gone without my time sensitive medication, it is 100% their fault. They are completely incompetent, rude, and unprofessional. Go elsewhere! I am not one to write reviews often but my recent experience with Progressive Urology made a very positive impact on my life and inspired me to take a moment to share my appreciation!!! In short, I scheduled a basic check up on a friend's recommendation who is a patient at this office. Dr. Kessaris examined me and performed some urine tests which ended up showing some microscopic blood in my urine. This was surprising to me since I never visibly noticed any blood before--as it turns out, I went for the cat scan he recommended and it ended up showing two small kidney stones!!! Luckily, nothing needs to be done at the moment for the stones, but it is an amazing feeling to at least know about them since my family has a long history of kidney problems. I am very thankful to Dr. Kessaris and his team (who were all very patient and attentive with me). Highly recommended. read more

Had a procedure with Dr. DK that went smoothly at first on a Wednesday evening. Ended up with SEVERE pain unfortunately by the following Sunday morning and had to call their emergency number. The remedy suggested by the doctor on call was okay. There was never a follow up call which kind of bothered me since I was ready to go the the ER for pain control. read more

I had a procedure done by the urologist on a Thursday, mind you he didn't numb me up for a biopsy and gave me antibiotics for only two days. Befoe the procedure takes place they make you sign a form stating what may happen after the procedure and to call the office if this occurs. So a day later I call the office when they open and get a run around to call the Astoria office that is where the doctor is today, guess what they were closed. Call back the Jackson Heights office and tell them that I need a script because I have the symptoms of a painful UTI from the procedure and get no response back from the doctor or PA. I call again on Tuesday and Wednesday still in agony with this UTI and was told that the PA would call me back that I was on her list to call. Finally I called again and was told she was in the Long Island office. I call the long island office and she is gone for the day. I wind up going to a first med care to get a script for my uti. read more

This review is for Dr. Sherman Chan of Progressive Urology. I visited in November. Completed the instructed diagnostic analysis. Lab results were in since beginning of December. Called 4 times across his 3 office locations. Never got to hear from the doctor regarding my results again. He might as well not exist. I called today on 3/15/16 and was given the runaround once again stating I "must come in" for the results due to protocol. Was given no explanation why I never had a follow-up call as promised not once but twice. The assistants while not being overly defensive, couldn't care less about the fact that my health concerns in my point of view were being handled with great disregard. Overall, the professionalism of the telephone staff and above all, Dr. Chan, is sorely lacking, if not nonexistent. Finally got a call that went straight to voicemail (I was using my phone and couldn't even react quickly enough to answer) and upon hearing the voicemail, Dr. Chan implies the lack of communication was my fault due to a "missed followup" appointment "several weeks ago." This supposed appointment was "scheduled," as I discovered by speaking with his receptionist for the 6th time, in January! [LIE #2] I am going to try and find out who arranged such an appointment as I never heard of such a thing. This doesn't change the fact that he explicitly stated, "I will call you when we get the results in." [LIE #1] The initial visit was 2.5/5, typical uninvolved/uninterested examination, but the follow up is 0/5. If you stick your finger up my rear at least return my calls. read more

if I could give them ZERO STARS I would! The receptionists are awful, the doctors are too busy to return phone calls. They billed us for tests they performed on me and didn't even have the decency to give us with the results of the tests. I called and called to have the doctor read the results. I sent them a check after receiving the bill twice even though I never heard back from them about the results of my test. I wrote them a note to please call me with the results. Well they cashed my $900 dollar check but they never called me with my results! Til this day I am still trying to get in touch with them to find out the results of my tests. I would never recommend anyone to go to his office. From the broken promises of both receptionists and doctors and he unwillingness to provide results of a test in just unprofessional! I actually saw dr. Sherman Chan. He appeared to be a nice guy during my first meeting but after that it was like if he was a ghost. I could never get in touch with him again! These days I am in and out of doctors offices because my health is not so good. Some are okay, some not okay, but this office always helps me smile and stay positive. The office staff is always welcoming. The doctor and medical staff are gentle with me and the procedures they do. I don't think anyone wants to have to see a urologist, but if you do this one is the one to go to. read more

HORRIBLE, IRRESPONSIBLE AND UNRESPONSIVE. I saw Dr. Sherman Chan for a few years too many. I thought his treatments would help me, but absolutely did not. In fact, the multiple antibiotics he prescribed me damaged my digestive system severely. I can not count the number of tests I took, different medications I was put on, none of which helped. Some of the procedures he suggested were experimental - he didn't even expect to find anything, but didn't seem to care about the large side effects or pain they would cause me. His staff are rude most of the time you call, and his secretary can be very obnoxious. One time I made an appointment to see him because my symptoms were pretty bad. Day of my appointment, I get a call that he has emergency surgery & has to cancel (NOT the first time this happened to me either with this particular doctor). I was upset, but the receptionist assured me she had another appointment available the very next afternoon. Fine. Next day comes & I have already taken off MORE time from work in order to make this 2nd appointment. I call to see if there's any cancellations that would allow me to come in earlier then my 3 PM appointment. The woman on the phone says, absolutely, there's no wait right now (this was around 1 PM). So I hop in my car and get there within 10 minutes. I walk in and the receptionist at the desk looks blankly at me when I tell her my name & that I was told I could come in now. She then tells me the doctor has yet AGAIN left HALF AN HOUR AGO for emergency surgery, was not coming back & that she has no idea who I spoke to because she is the only one in that office right now. She could not even answer for me why no one called me to tell me my appointment would be cancelled again! I left multiple requests for the doctor to call me with results. These were mostly ignored. I had to come in person to get my test results. Or the doctor would call me with the results the day of my appointment which was usually more than a week after results had come in. When confronted about this, the doctor would always either deny getting the messages or say he called me as soon as he saw it (usually the day I was coming in). Once, after several requests from his staff, I finally did get a call from Dr. Chan, but the phone literally rang once & went straight to voicemail. I immediately tried calling the office back, but could not get him on the phone or get another call back. This office was literally just looking for ways to keep you coming back for more tests & procedures so they can continue to bill your insurance. They really don't care about how you feel and don't have the honesty to tell you that they don't know how to treat you properly. SEEING DR. CHAN WAS HONESTLY A HUGE WASTE OF TIME AND A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. HE WAS UTTERLY USELESS. read more

I have been a Pt. at Progressive Urology for the past 15 yrs. I have only experienced dedicated Doctors and staff. Dr. Kessaris noticed I had a small cyst on my left kidney some years ago and keeps a close eye on it. The office has the latest diagnostic tools available for the office setting, which saves time going other places for tests. I saw Dr.Kessaris in his Astoria location and let me tell you I had the most amazing experience I ever had in a doctors office. Starting off with his staff they were so friendly and accommodating.Especially one of his employees Eleni,she went to the back and made sure the doctor was able to see me even though his waiting area was slammed. I didn't even have an apt and she treated me with such professionalism and care. When I got to see Dr.Kessaris he took his time with me and explained in detail what my problem was and what my next steps were.
