I came an hour early for my appointment and waited two hours after my appointed time. Since starting their new system the service is worse.

I wish I would have spoken to my father before I went to see Dr Kessaris who went to see him a few years before I went, he would've told me about his experience of having procedures done that were unnecessary which is also what happened to me. The doctor said he saw a small amount of blood in my urine (completely invisible to me) then ordered a number of tests including a CT scan and a procedure where he inserts a camera into the penis. I did the CT scan and it came out negative of course. When it came time for the next procedure I wanted to fully understand what was about to happen. As I was laying on the table I began asking questions about the procedure and before I could even finish my sentence he says "don't worry it'll be over in a minute" and proceeded with the procedure. It was one of the worst pains I've ever felt in my life. It burned and I bled when I urinated every day for the next 10 days. Of course the results of that were negative as well. I've never written a review on a Dr. before but the people need to know that Dr Kessaris is a horrible doctor. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Kessaris for approximately 2 years. I am happy to say that I have mostly positive things to say about him. I have read the negative reviews, and thankfully I haven't had those experiences. The staff is very helpful and never rude. If I call in for a sick visit, they try and accommodate me as best as they can to see the dr that day. The wait can sometimes be long, but not more than any other dr I have been to. The sonogram tech takes you in to the room to do an ultrasound, and collects urine before the dr sees you. I think this is good practice. Some people were complaining about "unnecessary tests", however, these aren't invasive tests and provide the dr with information. Dr Kessaris has always sat with me, explained my results, answered questions and gets back to you pretty quickly if you call in to ask a question. I have gone for the CAT scans of my bladder and kidneys, as others have said. I never felt pressured or pushed to take tests. read more

These MDs have an insurance scam going on. I had a general medical issue. The first doctor insisted I had to see the second doctor in the practice, who said it wasn't his area of Medicine, yet billed me for a visit, sent me to the third doctor in the practice. Then I find out they billed my insurance for almost $ 500. 00 in labs that were never done. I gave no samples at all. Then they have the nerve to bill me for the amount the lab didn't cover! read more

I was seen within a few minutes of my appointed time and did not have to wait long. Dr. Kessaris' staff explained the procedures clearly. I am a student in grad school for a health profession. First thing I want to say is that I am an idiot for not checking Yelp reviews before going to see this "doctor." I booked my appointment through ZocDoc, which has many false reviews. The office I went to see Dimitri Kessari was called Progressive Urology in Manhasset, NY. My first initial evaluation with him lasted literally two minutes. My wait time was almost one hour long. After the medical assistant took my vitals, she told me to get undressed from waist down and cover myself with a white sheet. I waited another half hour to 40 minutes on the treatment table for this "doctor." He finally came in and greeted me, all he did was check off some tests he was going to order for me. He did not ask any questions about my history, family medical history, pain or discomfort at the time, or simply how I am feeling. How can a doctor possibly do 2 minute initial consultations?! I have seen many doctors who lack the compassion and care for their patients, and Dimitri is definitely one on my list of incompetent doctors. He scheduled 3 quick tests, each on separate days. This shows that he is greedy and wanted to charge my insurance for no reason. Dimitri only performed one of the exams on my and it was a cystoscopy (sticking a hollow tube with camera lens up the urethra). The nurses prepped me and they were very kind. They told me he would apply local anesthetic before performing the exam. He rushed in the room right off the bat saying "this will only take a minute." He did not apply anesthetic AT ALL and caused me to be in pain for 3 days. Can you just imagine this procedure done on a female without applying anesthetic? I could not fathom how he did not think he needed to use anesthetic on me. He did not explain the procedure nor did he ask me if I wanted anesthetic, which every doctor should do. Dimitri discussed my results with me in less than 5 minutes, without offering any solutions. He stated the results as it was and used my age (20s) as a reason why everything is okay. I was told to go back to see him in 4 weeks, but that will not happen. Never again. read more

Dr Kessaris and his staff are wonderful. The front desk is always pleasant and helpful, and his staff always answer any questions or concerns I have. Also, I really appreciate that he does many tests, that's how he will be able to determine what the problem is and what is the best step forward. I don't understand how anyone would have a problem with that, usually people have to beg doctors to do tests to see what's wrong with them. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE saw Kessaris 3 weeks ago in Astoria office. appt at 830, doc arrives to office 915. waiting room has not one seat available and patients are standing in the hallways waiting. OVERBOOKED nurses perform tests on dad for 2 hours, doc only sees him at the end to read results. says everything ok and writes scrip for catscan with contrast. give me 2 cups to pee in. i call thursday before catscan to confirm pee cups are for catscan, girl on phone says yes. i ask do they need to be refrigerated she says not necessary. i ask did she send the bloodwork to the radiology office. she says yes. By the way when she was talking to me on the phone she was also answering questions to someone else so I knew she was NOT paying attention, but I listened anyway bc we believe in our doctors.... I get to radiology and hand in the pee cups, not for them, they dont need. these are for doc. Now i worry bc its Saturday, doc is closed and this pee will go bad by Monday technician does his bloodwork and guess what. cant do contrast bc creatinine is 5.9! What! no phone call from doc in 3 weeks since i have been there to alert me to this dangerous level. at this level my dad should be in hospital. i call kessaris office on Monday and tell girl ALL these issues, she said "sorry". Did the doctor READ the bloodwork I asked, bc if he did he would know they cannot do the contrast. She said she doesnt know. She told me to put the pee in the fridge now and bring to office this afternoon. I said, "pee from Friday and Saturday???". "oops, sorry", she said, "I'm wrong". the reason I made that call the Thursday before the catscan was to confirm everything bc I'm not an idiot, I know the reasons I'm asking these questions, and yet these girls up front, who is training them on patient care, and taking responsibility? This girl could care less when I called today with my complaints,could care less that the specific questions i asked relating to this procedure were answered wrong, could care less that I said I want all our records sent to me. my next call was to the records department to request ALL his medical records, we are never going back there again. To the guys below. DOUBLE DITTO! This is a doctor to completely avoid. Not only did I meet with him for a little under 5 minutes before he order numerous tests (tests which produced the same results and were redundant to go through) Even after a diagnosis of "everything looks normal and fine" did he schedule me for more testing. I am so grateful that I listed to my gut (and a nice nurse at HIS OWN OFFICE!) to cancel all future procedures. Stay away! Please don't make the mistake of seeing this man! He does not care about your comfort or keep your best interest or safety at heart. If his own nurse can say to cancel an appointment you shouldn't make any to begin with!!!! STAY AWAY!
