As a patient who just got discharged the day of writing this, I find just how little we've…read moredeveloped in creating a safe and caring facility for people with disturbed minds or people looking to get clean. The constant reprimands of the staff (specifically at night) would create an increased amount of tension in everyone on the unit. When I was restricted the day before my discharge, I was told I wouldn't be allowed to be going off units for group, fair. I wasn't not at all informed that they would confiscate all (and I mean ALL) of my clothing and possessions including woman's products and clean changes of clothes. And to top it all, when staying on unit while everyone else had left, I was not allowed to communicate or even sit near the other patients who were restricted. I understand that teenagers are not always sound of mind or judgment, but it's extremely hard to see needs not being met such as not opening any bathrooms when we desperately need it and having someone end up urinating on the seat, than it's hard to ignore and push it aside as "teenagers being dramatic". One of the most upsetting things was seeing the life being sucked out of all my peers, as they felt they were not getting the care they were promised to have received while being admitted. Even worse was seeing 14 and 15 year old girls get pumped with so many meds they turn into lethargic zombies. When I would ask what medication they were given, most of the time they were not able to answer. It's disheartening to see a system that I at some pointed wanted to contribute to so badly (I plan/planned on going to school to become an art therapist), turn out to be such a twisted tail. I will admit that there are many staff workers, at least on my unit, that were truly a pleasure to be around and made my experience a little more tolerable, and social workers and doctors (depending on who) seem to truly care about helping stabilizing the minds of the adolescents on unit. In conclusion, the fries are baller!

I have been quite hesitant to write a review about this craphole of a psych hospital but it does…read moreneed to be addressed if it already hasn't been. 8 years ago I had a severe relapse of my neuropsychiatric condition that began back in 2009. 8 years ago I was transferred to this hospital from Stony Brook University hospital and man was I in for a rude awakening! Don't let the outside of the place fool you, disguised as a homely location with flowers and all. The care is very subpar and almost nonexistent. I've never been treated with such disrespect. The nurses were rude and almost had a holier-than-thou attitude about the patients here, it's as almost if they didn't really care at all and was just there for the paycheck. I could not even talk to the medication nurse as she was unbelievably snappy and curt. Even the doctors were unprofessional. They don't fully listen to your immediate concerns, not using careful deductive logic & input from the patient and not only that but over-prescribe you meds that you probably don't even need. (I know I didn't, since then I have successfully tapered off most of those medications, SUCK ON THAT!) I also could not sleep at all because of the other patients making noise and being a constant threat to my safety and sanity. We were often mixed in as general population inmates in a prison and you never know whether you've made a friend or an enemy. Sharing rooms with others was pure hell. The suicide watches were disturbing as someone who is always watching a patient while you're trying to sleep. Who the hell wants someone there watching while you sleep!? Uncomfortable. The front desk would not take your requests seriously, at one point I complained that the heating was set way too hot and they said that the plumbers were working on it. Days later, and we're still in 80 degree heat. Unpleasant. In short, this was no picnic, it was hell. I think I might have actually gotten worse while there, so I opted to leave after 2 or 3 weeks. (thanks to my family and my brother who angrily said to the staff that did not belong there!) I instead preferred to recover at home which provided me the quiet and safety I needed for my unique position as I was very sensitive and am a shy quiet individual. I'm glad to report I am doing much better 8 years later living my best life and can speak freely when I say that this place ABSOLUTELY SUCKS! IT DID NOTHING FOR ME - If you ever have a crisis, DO NOT GO HERE. PERIOD. (I only gave a 2-star review as it wasn't all completely bad. The food was delicious and tasty, almost gourmet. I even enjoyed the turkey sandwiches they brought out after late-night, it was the only thing that calmed me in there. There was also one nurse I remember who was the ONLY one kind enough to treat us with some bit of dignity and respect)

I have to say I was very impressed by PM pediatrics. Earlier…read moreon this past Monday, my daughter was experiences fever for over 24 hours and coughing. I took her to our pediatrician who prescribed her medicine but towards the afternoon I felt that she looked worse. I researched online and saw it was recommended to come to PM pediatrics if your child has croup. It was around 4 pm and we were able to make a 4:45 pm appointment online which was great. Filled out our insurance information prior to arriving and her symptoms. PM Pediatrics is located right on sunrise highway and had a decent amount of parking shared among other stores in it's complex. We easily checked in and paid the copay and did not wait long to be seen. First off - the office is designed wonderfully for kids. Fun artwork, stuffed animals and TVs playing movies which offers a more relaxed vibe. The medical assistant took my daughter's vitals and weighed her and alerted the PA, Jessica, that she was having a bit of trouble breathing. The nurse and PA came into the room and evaluated her and prescribed her a steroid shot to assist in her breathing as she was visibly having more difficulty breathing. I am so thankful I came in for this as we would've had to go to the ER overnight so this avoided it. Then after the shot, she was given a nebulizer treatment and monitored until stable. I appreciated the thoroughness of care at PM pediatrics and by PA Jessica and her team. We were there for almost 2 hours as they were waiting for my daughter's oxygen saturation to be stable and I appreciated the time they took with her. We were sent home with a nebulizer and script was sent to our pharmacy for the nebulizer treatment. They said they were to bill our insurance after which I was thankful for because my daughter needed that nebulizer before bed. I am definitely coming here again if we need to and will be recommending this facility to others!

Please don't bother What a pain…read more My 15 month old was brought there yesterday for a bad cough Like terrible cough We met with a NP and she gave my daughter a 1 time does of a steroid! Then she stars she will send over medication to the pharmacy for her to take for 7 days! Fast forward I go to the pharmacy and no medication of course I call back sat on the phone for 20 minutes waiting and an Indian doctor gets on the phone not knowing anything about my daughters condition repeating asking the same thing over and over again! He said my daughter was diagnosed with a condition called "crew " I am not sure if I am spelling it correctly or not cause I was never informed of it! Then he said he see nothing in her chart that stats she will need any medication for the next 7 days! So safe to say I'll be bringing my daughter to the hospital because I don't want her to catch pneumonia and such a big miscommunication can truly jeopardize my daughter's health! This was my first time going to this establishment and this will be my last! With rsv, flu, and pneumonia running rampant you can't be too careful! In my gut I wanted to bring her to the hospital but I decided to bring her to this location because it was such good reviews but this place is a red flag and the undocumented information in my daughters chart will never sit correctly with me
