Not only did I receive exemplary, exceptional, excellent and effective treatment for my periodontal disease with the LANAP laser surgery by Dr Thanik this past November, the awesome staff at Progressive Periodontics went so far as to wish me a birthday greeting (see attached email snip). I went to Dr. Thanik a while back (years ago) for a couple gum grafting procedures, with cadaver tissue (ew-but thankful we have the technology to do this). Anyway, the grafts turned out fantastic. I messed up my pre-med so I had a meltdown in the chair towards the end before all that digging and scraping was complete (another ew)....Aside from that little episode, Dr. Thanik and staff were great...not just that, but as I mentioned....his grafts look fantastic and now those teeth won't fall out of my head (or I hope so)! I drove about 45 miles to see him and I think it was well worth the drive! read more

Honesty at first glance it's a beautiful facility very modern feel to it. Dr Thanik (I think that's his name) had great confident energy about him, he was definitely proud of his work. I would I have loved to have him as my dentist. HOWEVER Prior to my consultation I have had sort email/phone conversation with Alysa ( their receptionist ? idk) I told her what insurance I had and that she would double check if they accepted it. She later called to schedule a time for my first consultation, she confirms that they do accept my insurance ( they cover most if not all consultation). I arrive at the facility she smiles and escorts me to the back immediately, Doctor examines my teeth explains what needs to be done 20 minutes later I meet with Alyssa about payment plan options moving forward with my perio treatment etc, we talk about what my insurance will and will not cover. So good so far .. At check out she bills me for $200+! For the consultation. I explained that my insurance covers it. She explains that I've used up the number of exams I get in a year. What! I told her that I was not expecting to pay $200+ today and if had known this I would have just cancelled it. She said she called and emailed me about. The only email and phone call I got from her was from to book the appointment! Most dental places I know will explain how much a service would cost at check in! She rushed me to seen! Fishy.. hmm . Needless to say I was incredibly annoyed! I later called my dental insurance to get a better understanding of my coverage. I explained what happen, The insurance rep said it was odd that the insurance didn't cover it. She looked into it, only to find out progressive perio doesn't take my insurance! Alyssa lied about everything, bold face looked at me said they did. Con artist move. Not to create a pity party train, but I am single mother going through an already financially stressful dental journey and I really didn't appreciate being lied too. It's not professional and it just comes off greedy. Agh. Rant over. read more

Dr. Thanik did my LANAP laser gum surgery on my front bottom tooth. He was straightforward, explained the procedure and answered my questions. The procedure was easy (he's good with the numbing) and he even gives you his number to text for the week after for any concerns - which I did, and he was quick to respond. Overall, I went from a 6mm to a 1mm! The reception staff were also friendly and easy to work with. The full recovery for the LANAP procedure is 1 year with multiple rechecks. I had to reschedule multiple times and they helped me do that. Also, the facilities live up to the claims on the website of being clean and covid safe. There are special air purifiers in the lobby and each exam room and they do a good job not keeping people waiting in the lobby. All staff wear good, secure masks. read more

Dr. Thanik and especially his staff addressed my worries about pain and anxiety before I had my tooth extracted for a dental implant. I was allowed to take medication beforehand, and with the sedative I was given during the procedure, and woke up when it was completed. It took overnight to stop being in pain and needing medication, but I have been pain free for the last day, 2 days after the procedure. I couldn't ask for a better result. I chose Dr. Thanik because he does all the work in 2 different appointments, 3 months apart---instead of cramming everything into one day--because the sinuses are involved in my case. My Mom had an emergency, and she normally goes to a periodontist in Bend. Her Bend periodontist recommended Progressive Periodontics. Not only did they squeeze her in within the next couple of hours, but they performed the emergency surgery she needed in a flash and get her some immediate relief, they made sure she understood what she needed to do going forward, what she could eat, etc. AND then they CALLED her that evening to check and see how she was recovering! When I walked in the door, a patient was talking to the young lady working the front desk. From the jist of the conversation, they were squeezing the patient in despite not having an appointment. The young lady was very polite and nonchalant about it. Dr. Thanik was very personable and knowledgeable. He was really frank (in a good way) about the "good news" and "bad news" when it came to my situation and options. He was extremely thorough with his explanations and didn't act impatient when it came to all of the questions I had for him. Even though I paid out of pocket because I was sure my insurance wouldn't cover the visit, they said they would submit it to my insurance just in case and reimburse me if they paid. Nice people but I could not use them since they do not take the same financing as my dentist so he sent me to another doctor.

Worst experience. I had to have implants, paid upfront of course, expensive and barely any insurance coverage. Everything was lovely until my last couple visits. For some reason the doctor didn't believe I wasn't numb and didn't believe I could feel most of what he was doing to my mouth. I squirmed around a lot trying to just let him get it done and his assistant rudely told me that if I wasn't numb I should tell them. I did! But he wasn't listening. He finally decided to try and get me numb again and jabbed a needle in the roof of my mouth. Because I totally felt it and wasn't numb in that area at all, I jumped. Which knocked the needle out. The doctor just rejabbed the roof of my mouth and held it there even though I was trying to grab his hand away. Horrible experience! And after all of it (I received stitches) I had to ask for pain killers and wasn't even given a courteous thank you for your business. Don't go unless your a masochist. read more
