I had purchased my first auto policy with Progressive following our move from another state. Towards the end of the policy period I found a better rate with another insurer and when I called and spoke to the Progressive representative to cancel my policy I was told that this would not be a problem and my remaining 30 day premium would be refunded. While this was true I also was charged $75 to cancel the policy with only 30 days remaining. Although I was given an apology by a Progressive supervisor saying that their rep should have advised me of the fee before cancellation they would not restore the $75 fee. I certainly don't think they acted in good faith in regard to this issue. If by sharing this development can help anyone out there considering canceling a policy with Progressive you've now been advised. read more
