Progressive loves to market its Snapshot program as a way to "reward good driving," but don't be fooled--it's more of a trap than a benefit. In reality, they use it to surcharge you into unaffordable monthly premiums. I clearly did not read the fine print carefully enough when I signed up, but now I'm stuck with a $325 surcharge on top of a $190+ monthly premium--all because of hard braking in Austin traffic. Seriously?! If you've ever driven here, you know slamming on the brakes is practically a survival skill. The nerve of them to penalize me for avoiding accidents! Lesson learned: be very cautious with insurance companies and their so-called "savings programs." Progressive turned out to be just like the rest--quick to take your money and slow to offer real solutions. I'm officially over it. Now, I'm looking for better auto insurance options and ideally a bundle with home insurance. If anyone has recommendations for a company that actually values its customers (and doesn't sneak in ridiculous fees), I'm all ears! read more

It is not so much Progressive themselves as it is one of their Agents. Liz Spurell was assigned the claim when one of their insurees hit me on 11/14/25. The police crash report clearly states their insuree was at fault and ticketed, yet she has decided it was my fault. She spoke to me the day of the incident like I was trash and unworthy. She did not keep any contact with me and then when she said I was liable for 60% and I called her, she treated me worse. I do have both convos recorded. After spending A LOT of time trying to finish up my quote- we never finished the quote! It was late in the evening SHANDA said to give her a direct call so that we could finish up the following day. Well well we have been trying to get a hold of Shanda for the last two days- with straight vm! She even said yah give me a direct call since I know your quotes and we have been working on them together. FALSE! So then I called back the main line only to get a gentleman (didn't catch his name) who didn't seem to thrilled to be answering customer service lines. Mid talk- somehow we lost connection???? So this morning- I called again the main line only to get another gentleman by the name of DAN. Well Dan still needed some more sleep or some coffee. He too didn't seemed to enthused to assist & it seemed as if he really didn't want to go over the quotes. I am writing to express my deep frustration with how my claim for my fully restored 1970 Chevy C10 has been handled. The truck had over $20,000 in aftermarket parts installed by the previous owner, and I had it fully serviced and tuned just before the accident. Only five days after, I was hit, causing severe damage, with the bodywork alone costing $20,000 to repair. After picking it up, I noticed serious engine and steering issues. My mechanic confirmed that these were directly caused by the accident, yet Progressive refuses to cover the repairs, citing wear and tear--despite the fact that nothing under the hood is original, and I have receipts for all the new parts. What makes this even more frustrating is that the claim agent sent to inspect my truck didn't even know what a carburetor was, yet he was solely responsible for approving the repairs. It feels absurd that someone so unfamiliar with basic car components is in charge of such critical decisions. Ok, I'm not a customer of Progressive (and NEVER will be) but a dear friend of mine was hit head-on by a drunk driver. He has Progressive insurance. The company low-balled her on the value of her car, only gave her a week on rental, and is not covering her medical expenses nor the time she will have to miss working. (She was seriously injured). WTF? What is insurance for if not for this? Hasn't she suferred enough because of this negligent driver? Now she has to hire a lawyer to squeeze money out of this insurance company. Progressive runs the best auto insurance business in the industry, but today I just want to acknowledge one of their insurance service writers over at Caliber Collision on HWY 620 for handling my claim and estimate. Demetri, I didn't get his last name, worked on a hail damage claim on my car today, and the guy is just amazing. Personnel like that, who can explain to you what to expect in the process, and describe to you how they'll fix your car, are rare today. I cancelled my insurance with Progressive, submitted proof of new insurance (why I had to do that, I don't know). They still billed me for the next month. Refused to pay. Sent it to a collection agency so it effects my credit. Nobody I ever talked to on the phone was very helpful. Glad I never had a claim as it would probably be a nightmare. read more

Unethical company. They claim diversity and ethics but they sure won't look at overwhelming evidence and find their own driver lying about a particular accident. Video evidence, Austin City traffic patterns and signal sequences timed prove their driver is at fault yet to save themselves, they descriminate against a member of the LGBT community and find their driver innocent in an injury accident their driver caused with overwhelming evidence proving so. Two other insurance companies would concur with this evidence but because the person employed with Progressive at this contact center descrminates against an LGBT person, overwhelming evidence isn't enough. read more

My claims adjuster doesn't respond or answer my emails. Waiting to hear back regarding a claim he's been delaying and making up stories. Even with video evidence from security system. I'm going to talk to legal advice in my city on how to deal with these guys. Don't work or pay for Progressive. Worst insurance I've ever worked with. read more

Ok I just found out that progressive passes on to the policy buyer a 50$ fee for writing the policy and I am freak out and pissed off they charge us for doing their job I just switched policy's and found this out because they are trying to get 11 more dollars out of me and they won't comp me this charge even though they won't tell you before hand Oh by the way we are charging u 50 bucks to write this policy ( that's our job by the way) you suck progressive for not informing people u are writing policy's for shame on u read more

I have had Progressive for many years. I have not file I had to file a claim a month ago now. No communication. I had to get the managers email and number to get help. It took 4 days to get our car towed and that was because we finally paid out of pocket for that. It took 4 request and 3 weeks to get reimbursed. Our car is still in the shop. We have to call or email manager to extend our rental car or get updates. The body shop is now telling us Progressive is refusing to pay to get our rims painted and to make sure the match the others not damaged. They were painted and matched before the accident. Now they want us to have one color on one side of our car and another on the other side. They said we have to pay out of pocket if we want our to match prior accident condition. Did I mention I have paid them for 15 years or longer without claim. We have side markers that we now have to wait at least another month for and hope they match. I say hope because they have been trying to match them for a month now with no luck. Progressive wants to give us our car back without side markers, mismatch rims and not sure if they ever found the correct tires. Even the body shop said dont ever use Progressive they dont pay to get cars back to pre accident condition. They told us to try State Farm because they go out of their way to make sure their customers cars match like before accidents. Guess that is my needs to be my next call. Beyond unacceptable to have my insurance company make me pay to match all 4 rims due to accident and still have missing/ broken parts when I have to pick up my car hoping those will be fixed in a month. They are not loyal to those who pay their policies premium for years. read more
