If it's your first time, you can walk past the eye glass displays into their office alcove or there's a small silver door out in the aisle that leads directly to the reception desk. The doctor's office is on the far right side of the Target Optical shop. There are multiple doctors so don't be disheartened if multiple people are checking in at the same time. There were 5 of us checking in and my appointment was kept on time! Check in was a breeze. The receptionist was kind and efficient. There were no up-sells or spiels. You have the option to have photos done of the back of your eye and to opt into eye dilation if the doctor deems it necessary, but it's just a matter of checking yes or no on the form. No one gives you a sales pitch. The doctor told me that my eyes were in great shape and even though I consented to eye dilation, it wasn't needed. I was assigned to Dr. Tina Xiu and she was incredible! I appreciate that she wore a mask, sanitized everything before we used it, and explained everything before doing it. She walked me through what the machine would do, what she was looking for, etc. She took the time to ask if I had concerns or questions and answered them thoroughly. My only complaint is that the waiting room is very tiny and there were 5 of us at the same time so I wound up waiting outside the reception area. At the end of the appointment, you're led to the glasses area if they're prescribed for you. However, there were 8 people ahead of me so I left. I wound up finding glasses online for much cheaper since the optical section was understaffed. I think those are more Target's choices than Progressive's so I don't want to dock them. read more

My second time coming here for a contact lens eye exam. Simple procedure that could be a disaster nowadays, but was easy as pie: called and made an appointment; received appt reminder texts; arrived for my appt, they were prepared for me and on time. Filled out the normal paperwork, paid the copay. Had the glaucoma test and waited for the appt with the doctor. While waiting, I witnessed the front desk coordinator who helped numerous people by phone and walk in remain steady and professional with each inquiry. (Talk about excellent customer service on a busy Friday afternoon!) The optometrist was great, thorough and answered my questions. Very helpful. Front desk receptionist (Mandy I think her name was) was extremely rude and had an attitude from the very beginning, even before I went into the office for my appointment. I filled out all my information online including my insurance information, yet she called me prior to my appointment claiming that I did not have insurance through Anthem. She argued that Anthem only provides medical coverage. She kept giving me the run around even though I stated through the phone that I did have Anthem Blue Vision insurance and she was insistent that Anthem did not provide any vision coverage. She asked for my SSN over the phone to look up vision coverage on her end. The next day when I came in for my appointment, she stated that she could not find my coverage and asked me if I wanted to just pay out of pocket. She did not even ask for my insurance card first. I said that I had insurance through Anthem and again, she tried to argue with me about Anthem not having vision coverage. I pulled it out and showed her my Anthem card that literally stated "VISION COVERAGE" at the bottom. After she saw this, she said they might be able to take me in because I was now ten minutes late into my appointment and they have lunch soon. I said it was okay, but I still wanted her to check my insurance. She finally enters my insurance information through, and it came up. She should have done this the first time instead of arguing with me at the very beginning during our first phone interaction. The optometrist and assistant in the back were very kind and professional, however the receptionist ruined the entire experience for me. My husband witnessed the whole thing, and he had an appointment at 2PM, but he decided not to go to that appointment because of how rude the receptionist was. read more

Took our almost 10 year old son here for his first eye appointment. The staff was kind and patient with him when performing the eye measurements and taking a photo of his eyes. Dr. Xu was very kind and informative. She explained everything that she was going to do to our son and he did great during the exam. She told him to keep reading and that to make sure it's in a well lit area. She made sure that we had all of our concerns and questions answered and she even walked us to the optical area to show us where to look at glasses for our son. If you have eye insurance come to this office. Its clean and the appointments are not too long. And their phoropter is digital, so she sits at her desk to change the lenses. They told me that they did not book the appointment It was actually the optical department next door. I found out the person who booked it was Leyla and when I went next door to voice my concerns she was off and I was told their manager Rose would contact me. That never happened so I went in today to cancel my order and to cancel my son's appointment. I was told that Rose is supposedly out of town and there was no one to take the complaint. When I went next door to cancel my current eyeglass order they asked why and I said because I hadn't been contacted and there's too many other options out there to deal with customer service like that. She then claims that progressive eye care was supposed to contact me as her manager was out of town. That also never happened. At the end of the day, somebody needs to be accountable and available to hear concerns. Clearly, that is not the case and they just want to pay pass the buck and ping pong between the two offices. I've been told that they're separate businesses but they work very closely together so there's really no excuse. All I wanted to do was voice my concerns and frustrations. Schooling is hard enough without having them actually miss time for no reason. The sad thing is the optometrists are actually very nice but if the offices can't get their act together I'm sure they'll lose more business than just mine. read more

Had an appointment on a rainy Saturday. The receptionist, Cindy was a sweetheart. Upon checking in, I was overwhelmed with all the papers I had to complete. Cindy took her time and helped make the process alot easier. She explained everything to me even though it was busy. My family has been here previously and the service wasn't that good. On a side note I saw her calm a little boy down, who was nervous for his exam. Dr. Truong was amazing and took his time with my exam. He's a real professional. I'll definitely be returning next time. My husband's appointment was right before mine, while i was outside waiting for him, i was forced by the receptionist to drop my one year old in the shopping cart, to do my eye test, she refused to wait till my husband is done to help me, and act very annoyed by us. I went for my yearly eye exam and Dr. Tina Xu was great and went over everything on my eye photos. She was super friendly. Big shout out to Rose in Optical though. She went through my insurance benefits in detail to make sure I used them to get the most out of my coverage. Every previous doctor told me its either glasses OR contact lenses (I struggle understanding eye insurance), but Rose patiently explained how I could use both by paying retail for glass lenses. Pretty disappointed with the service. I came in for my annual eye exam a few months ago and discussed contacts with the optometrist. She never mentioned a 90 day deadline for fitting. So I came back to get fitted for contacts and was told I'd have to pay for another eye exam out of pocket because, of course, my insurance only pays for one a year. Very frustrated! My situation is a little unique; I went in to get a new prescription so I can get new eye glasses and everything went well until I went out to look over the glasses they offer their customers, at some point during this process I started experiencing low blood sugar. I am a diabetic and have been having some issues with my body no longer producing the symptoms of low blood sugar so it takes me a little time to realize when it has begun to go too low and sometimes it drops so fast I am unable to respond before I become unable to respond. After a certain amount of time (No idea how much time) I started to become aware of my surroundings, then realized I was surrounded by the men of the local fire department. The Doctor and his staff were very helpful and I felt horrible for interrupting their business that day but they made me feel like I was amongst friends which is usually not the case when anything like this happens mostly because people do not know what to say. The Doctor was very thorough in everything he did, explained things so even someone with low blood sugar can understand. I have dealt with many Doctors over the 23 years of being a diabetic, very few make sure you understand everything that is going on before you leave. I can't speak to the costs or quality of the products they offer because I have to go back to get glasses today. I would like to thank everyone at Progressive Eyecare for helping me through that day. read more
