I'm turning 55 in a couple of months. I've been driving since I was 16 and have been in quite a few accidents over the years. But, not one was my fault. Now, I started doing rideshare PT just to keep busy. I called them today 9/25/26 gave them all my information my wife's as well. And they gave me a quote. I said okay let's do it. Then the agent ran my license and said you've been in 4 accidents in the last 3 years. I explained everyone of them and said not one was my fault. I told him I have a dashcam to prove it. At that point he told me that Progressive would not cover me because I've been in to many accidents. I told him because I work for rideshare I'm on the road more than normal people are. Which in turn makes me more vulnerable to getting hit. Especially in Massachusetts. It didn't matter he said, you are a high risk. I asked to speak with a supervisor. She got on the phone and I explained it to her now. Again, she said it is what it is! You are a high risk. I said even though not one of those were my fault. She said it doesn't matter, again "You are a high risk and they have the right to refuse insuring me. I asked her why would they cover people who do rideshare? We're on the road a lot more than other people which gives us more of a possibility of being in an accident. So there penalizing me for being a good driver. She didn't care at all. I said don't take on the endorsement for rideshare because we're at a much higher risk. A good driver should be rewarded after all those decades of no accidents! But yet insurance companies have no problem taking our money. And if you ever make a boo boo while driving, they jack up your rates. The system is so crooked it's not funny. I should have the right to a better rate from any agency. If you read this please think twice about using them, because they'll sure use you. I know I won't stop everyone from going with Progressive but if I can stop at least one person then at least I can say I tried and said my peace. I wish I remember the supervisor's name! Thanks for reading this and hopefully think about going with Progressive. read more
