This was my first time working with a contractor. Progressive Builders were recommended by a friend who had hired them for bathroom updates so I asked for a bid on our project, which at the time was a room expansion and kitchen/bathroom update. They had the best price so that combined with the recommendation led us to go with them and they really knocked it out of the park. It morphed into a much larger project that touched just about everything. There was never a time where I felt concerned about the work being done - they were always on site with very little down time and the communication was great - calls and messages were usually returned in the same day, if not the same hour so we never had to sit around waiting for responses. Any concerns were addressed without push back and the finished product is so much better than we imagined. We ended up adding several change orders and they were able to accomodate these and stay within a reasonable time frame for finishing everything. Everyone we dealt with were very professional and easy to work with from Arik down to the crews on site. Definitely recommend. read more

I don't know what you're "striving" to do but it is not all possible that you ever called to tell us that permits were ready to be picked up anywhere, as this job failed inspection and got no permit. Plans either. The first incorrect set was delivered. The rest of the incorrect sets have been emailed. I've never met a building inspector that said he failed something for "no big deal", if you say you have, then you're a bigger liar than I thought. The building inspector said to me that he sees several houses a day and cannot remember them all. He went on to say that I am welcome to call and schedule another inspection with everyone present if I would like. He closed out his email to me by saying, that under no circumstance, would the City of Hayward ever approve framework done with drywall screws. I sincerely doubt he had a sudden recall when you contacted him. I could go on and on. There's nothing correct in your response. This is a rip-off. If you're telling the truth then I challenge you, right here and right now, to post the license information for Carlos and his crew. If he is, in fact, a licensed contractor, then you should have no problem producing that information. Do it here or admit that he doesn't have a license and you breached our contract. read more

After meeting with a 3 contractors, Eric was the most professional and the prices given were affordable compared to the other companies that had quoted us. We are so happy with the addition! The work done by Rudy and Jose is amazing! They started in mid July and ended early November. They worked from 8 am-6 pm literally every day except Sunday. We had minor issues along the way but everything was taken care of ASAP. Not only did Ron come out to do the assessment and estimate, he came BACK when he had a completed estimate and met with me in person to deliver it. Progressive just completed major repairs/renovations to our large exterior wood deck. The work included the difficult removal and replacement of two badly deteriorated 4x6 structural columns supporting the edge of the deck; removal and replacement of all of the decking screws (which were badly corroded); painting the entire facade and underside; and staining the teak decking. It was apparent from the beginning that any new design combining the kitchen and dining room into one grand room would require altering and/or resizing windows. This might seem a trivial matter; except when the house, built in the 1920s, is subject to a Historic Society's strict requirements. Of the contractors we talked to only Progressive Builders' project manager, Eric, took this matter seriously, as he knew it could have a design and scheduling effect if not addressed at the very start. This attention to details was not lost in our decision in choosing Progressive Builders. Progressive Builders are professional in all the disciplines it took to produce a great product. It was very impressive how efficiently the bearing wall was removed and structurally reinforced. Eric showed us examples of previous similar work they had done, which was most reassuring. Experience does count. Attention to details, from custom cabinets, granite on the island, quartz on counter tops, choice of flooring, ceiling and hanging lighting, moldings and different paint requirements, etc., are visually reflected in the project. And items such as electrical, plumbing, H & AC duct work, etc., that are not readily visible but still require the same level of attention is necessary to complete the project. Cost, scheduling and change orders were always discussed and agreed upon in a timely manner with Eric so as to have minimal effect on the schedule. Two years ago i was looking for a replacement sunroom for my home and met Ron Vankin. I was very pleased with his professionalism, courtesy and timely follow through. The job was well done and when I had a small leak the following year due to torrential rains, one call to Ron solved the problem. In a matter of days he had workers come check and reseal the area. This caused me to call Ron again this year when starting home repair projects. He brought Arik out to help me plan and give an estimate. We've just completed phase 1 of 3 that I wish to do. I got my exterior stucco and eves/facia repaired then painted with cool coat paint. In addition, I had a window and rotted sill replaced and replaced gutters. The crews they provided were timely, hard workers that were very nice and cleaned up well at the of each day. This was a vast improvement over past painters I've used! Even a couple neighbors that were watching the progress came over to speak to them about potential new jobs. Being a homeowner that must start a renovation brings to mind that old film, The Money Pit. All jobs seem to cost more and take longer than promised. Let me start by saying that I am a perfectionist. I tend to research, research, and then research my research. So when it came time for my husband and I to find a general contractor to perform a remodel on a condo we purchased, I wanted to get tons and tons of bids before settling on one. We set about gathering our bids, and contacted highly reviewed companies that we found through Houzz and yelp. Of all the contractors that we interviewed, Eric at Progressive Builders set himself apart from an early stage. He was extremely prompt, listened to exactly what we wanted, clearly understood our vision, and delivered a highly competitive bid to us within a day or two of visiting. The scope of our remodel was a full gut kitchen demo, new tile floors in the kitchen, new backsplash, new cabinetry, relocating electrical outlets, tons of drywall patching to cover the holes that an electrician we had hired earlier made to install recessed lights, and skim coating and painting our entire 1700 square foot condo. As part of the kitchen remodel, we really wanted to lower a pony wall that formed a breakfast counter and really closed off our kitchen. Literally every other contractor that we invited to give bids before we met with Progressive told us that this could not be done. They each had a different reason for why they didn't think it could be done. Someone told us there is wiring there, someone else told us there was special piping there, and ultimately - nobody but Progressive Builders was able to give us what we wanted - a flush peninsula that would open up our kitchen to the living room. As I write this, I am admiring our stunning kitchen WITH a lowered pony wall that everyone else said was impossible to achieve - all thanks to Eric, Christian, Renee and their team of hard workers at Progressive Builders. Aside from being extremely professional during the bidding stage, Eric and his team were all over our project from start to finish. They quoted us 5-6 weeks for the entire scope and they were right on time. We had an especially big time crunch because I was 6 months pregnant at the time and we had to be out of our apartment by August 31st. The team at Progressive worked late, on weekends, and expertly coordinated the various trades and final touch ups to get us moved in on time. Renee was particularly understanding of our situation and made sure the team made up for any delays to keep us going on schedule. Now, this review isn't centered solely on this company's professionalism. The quality of their work and expertise in their various trades is very evident from the final product that they deliver. I'll admit, I was a little bit nervous signing a contract for such a high dollar amount without knowing the quality of kitchen cabinetry we would be receiving (since that was a major portion of the kitchen contract cost). But Eric explained the entire process to us upfront, and brought in a kitchen designer who took precise measurements and brought us the actual sample cabinet doors to choose from. Now that our kitchen is finished, I absolutely love the cabinets! They're durable, high-quality, and are backed with a craftsmanship warranty. Additionally, their skimcoat and paint work is truly top-notch. Christian, another general contractor that works with Eric, was at our job site routinely and was always responsive to our questions or concerns. I could call him or Eric any time and they would answer their phones or get back to me on the same day. Renee, from their main office, also answered all of my logistical questions and kept up-to-date on our progress. As with any major construction project, little things do go wrong. There was never anything major that held us up, but if there was ever an issue - Eric and Christian immediately notified us, already had a proposed solution ready to go, and would schedule the fixes immediately. This goes such a long way in building trust, and for a project that was scheduled to last 5 to 6 weeks, trust is very important. There was even one night very early in our project where our air conditioner was leaking (through what I later learned was no fault of Progressive). Our HOA was giving us trouble, and without even an ounce of hesitation, both Eric and Christian drove over late at night to address the problem and help us out. They truly went above and beyond to fix our issue, even though it was outside of the scope of our contract and was an unforeseen problem. What other general contractor would do that? They treat you like family here. Ultimately, I can't recommend Progressive Builders highly enough. They stayed on time, on budget, and delivered an extremely high-quality remodel for us. We absolutely love our newly remodeled home! Someday we hope to remodel our bathrooms as well, and when that day comes we will be giving Progressive Builders our first call. Eric and Miki came to look at the house and take measurements for their quote. While they were there, the power went out on one half of the house. I was alone at the time, and it was getting dark. They took it upon themselves to investigate the problem because they did not want to leave me without power. They sent for an electrician on their team who came over asap and fixed it.
