My son was treated by Dr. Anngela Adamson in the ER recently. She was extremely rude and did not even take the time to do an exam. He hurt his back and was having trouble standing or sitting. She discharged him saying it was muscle related. He fell in the lobby leaving the hospital and no one offered to help. The ladies at the check in desk completely ignored that he fell. Numerous times during the ER visit, Dr. Adamson kept repeating that we should not have brought him to the ER and repeated what constituted an emergency. At the time we entered the ER, there were only 3 cars in the parking lot and no one in the waiting area. She made it clear that our visit was not worth her time. The nurse was also extremely rude as well. I also had a bad experience 2 yrs ago. I was brought in my ambulance due to a fall. I could not walk as I hit my knee. Doctor took x-rays and shook his head as he said nothing was wrong. He made me try and walk and I fell, but he did catch me. Shook his head and said he didn't understand why I couldn't walk. Never questioned anything about my fall other than my knee. Turns out 2 days later when I saw another doctor that I broke my knee cap (no xray taken on view of the top of my knee cap). Also determined that I had a bad concussion which resulted in months of physical therapy. I will never use this ER again! read more

Went to the ER yesterday afternoon 4:30 with chest discomfort and other symptoms after talking to a 24/7 nurse help line who advised me to. I was asked immediately if I had chest pain. I said it was discomfort. They soon called me in for an EKG. Dr. said it was okay and I was told to sit in the waiting room. I waited for almost 2 1/2 hours. I asked the receptionist how long the wait would be. She was able to get me in around 20 minutes after that. They drew blood and took a chest x-ray. Dr. came in to see me at 7:45 and said he would look at the x-ray and be back... that lasted 1 hr. I was sooooo disgusted I left and will never go back to that place again. In fact since my PCP is only on staff at that hospital I will be looking for a new PCP. All total I was there over 4 hours. Never again. I think they determine if your case if life or death and if not you go to the bottom of the priority list. Do you think they want to discourage people from coming to the ER? read more

I wish there was a zero star option due to the service I received in the ER. I waited 3 hours in the waiting room then another 3 hours in the actual ER before being told to go home! I have a spinal disease which is very painful and although I have a pain management doctor there still are times I need additional help. They stated they only had one doctor and it was an extremely busy evening. I was put in a makeshift room where unless I pushed the button I was just left. They never checked my blood pressure after being registered nor did they follow up with me unless I pushed the service button. I wish I would have asked for the name of the nurse that told me to go home but I was so upset I just couldn't get out of there fast enough. I was talked with rudely and she had an attitude which I've never experienced before from a nurse in my entire life. Her exact words were the doctor is busy setting a broken arm and it could be hours because she sees the more pressing people first and I may just want to go home! I did just that but felt like if that is what they wanted they could have told me 6 hours before letting me wait. Not sure how they choose who gets taken care of first because a flu person came in and was taken right away. I guess a disabled patient doesn't make the priority list. I will be taking this further and plan on speaking with someone so they can explain to me why they chose to not treat me. read more

Will NEVER go here again. Took husband to ER with suspected blood clots and with abdominal pain. They wouldn't look for clots (they actually had the nurse throw away the blood tube she drew that would have checked for clotting issues) and, yet, they told my husband that he did NOT have any blood clots. They also wouldn't do any scan for the stomach pain. Discharged him with, basically, Joint Pain & Upset Stomach. Turns out it was actually very serious blood clots AND Pancreatic Cancer!!! He had blood clots in his deep veins (DVTs) AND in his lungs. He could have died from the clots alone. Not checking for the clots was bad enough, but telling him that he "did not have any clots" almost killed him, because he waited a few more days before going to another facility for help...since he believed it wasn't clots and, therefore, not life-threatening. How could they tell him it wasn't clots, when they refused to even check for them?! read more

My husband went to Emergency June 1st 2016 for low sodium level, He should have stayed for the night but the Dr. told him they had no bed available. I am very disappointed in that answer. My husbands legs are still wobbly and he still feels weak. Are we supposed to keep going to the Emergency room. They should have kept him overnight and given him the whole bag of IV sodium instead if just part of it. Why couldn't he have stayed in the emergency room until the IV bag was emptied. I sure would like a decent answer. read more

I'm giving them one star to reflect my ER visit. I went to the ER when I was having a kidney stone. I was in extreme pain. I arrived in my pajamas and clutching a waste paper basket in the event I needed to vomit from the pain. There were 5 other patients before me, all of them in no distress, looking bored at their phones or smiling and laughing with their family members. I was the ONLY person in any distress. I waited over an HOUR. Everyone was called in order, instead of by need. I asked the registrar how much longer, crying and gasping. And he looked bored and said he had no idea. The only time the staff showed any emotion was when the pizza delivery man showed up. At that point they all ran to him, or called to the rest of the staff to get their dinner. Once I was brought in the back and seen by medical staff, they were very nice, sympathetic and professional. I ended up being admitted for a procedure and stayed for 5 days. The ER registrars were the worst I've ever seen. They didn't even offer a warm blanket or a glass of water! Pitiful service for people who profess to be health care professionals. read more

Over 5 hour wait in the emergency room last Saturday evening. 2.5 hours in the waiting room and close to 3 in the emergency room. No doctor, no physician assistant. Just a nurse spewing excuses. I was in serious pain. Could not give me anything until the doctor saw me. Finally decided to leave and the staff could not understand. Poor management in that hospital. It use to be my go to place. Level of service has deteriorated tremendously. The "charge" nurse was not sympathetic at all, actually acted more like a bully because I would not sign anything. Threatened to call police if the could not remove the iv. The rent a cop security guy actually blocked the door. I was doubled over in pain and just wanted to get to my ride. I ended up removing the iv on my own because of the aggressive nature the staff took. The admitting lady was the only saving grace to that pathetic er. The charge nurse even followed me out and continued to tell me hospital policy. It was beyond policy at that point and someone in a "charge" position should have been able to recognize that. I would hope a 6 hr wait would be told up front. Poor staffing, poor decisions and poorly run by by administration. read more

I do not recommend this hospital at all. I suffer from chronic kidney stones, which cause an unbelievable amount of pain. I started with always going to st johns whenever the pain would begin, which was always a great experience, but at times the pain was so unbearable that I could not make the drive. With Progress West being the closest hospital to me, I began going there. The first few times were good. They were quick to help relieve the pain, the nurses and doctors were good. Or so I thought. My past few experiences have been just terrible, one of those times being today. The staff is no longer friendly, the doctors seem like what you say is just stupid and you are wasting their time. Today, for instance, I got to the hospital at 12:15 am, was only one of two people waiting, was in so much pain that I was vomiting. I did not get taken back until 1 am. At that point I was thinking that every thing would be okay and I would be taken care of quickly to help relieve the pain. So at about 1:15 am the nurse comes in with a bag of fluids, pain medication, and equipment to draw my blood, which btw they did draw my blood as soon as they came in, but never sent it off for lab work. As a matter of fact, I'm leaving now and it is 4:23 am and the blood work is still sitting on the table next to me. Anyway, after the nurse drew blood, she never set up the bad of fluids or gave the pain medication. Actually, the doctor came in 30 mins later so about 1:45 am to ask what was going on and then I had a problem. I was in severe pain and was not treated until I became snippy with the doctor, in which case about 15 mins later I was hooked up to the bag of fluids, and finally given pain medication. I was then sent over for a cat scan. It showed that I had stones but they were not in my ureters. They were in the kidney, which according to the doctor, would never cause pain. With my history of kidney stones, I know when they cause pain. Which is in fact when they move at all. Which my urologist said can happen while in the kidneys. you can also find that information out on mayoclinic.org. which perhaps she should brush up on considering she seemed to be lacking knowledge in that field. She had one of the worst attitudes and made me feel stupid. St johns may be far away but it is definitely worth the drive when compared to progress west. Do not go here!! If I could give this place zero stars then I would but I have to choose at least one. read more

Went to The ER due to post surgical pain . Doc walked in did not say hello or introduce herself. The first thing she said was "why are you here " so I told her I was having extreme pain but I was not seeking any more pain medicine ( I had plenty ) and she went through the the normal and said she wanted to talk my surgeon . I told her I was concerned about this as it was my pain and the urging of 6 family members ( some were crying and all were adults ) because they were so concerned about the state of my feet/wounds. The only thing she did was do a wound culture the cultures were left on the tray until we pointed out to her they were just laying around - she told me the same stuff we we're concerned about with our surgeon and she was extremely rude to my family ( I had 5 in the room ) I have never had a doc treat me or my family this way - in addition when the nurse was instructed to put my bandaged back on ( remember I have huge gaping open wounds on both feet ) she did not use gloves and she slapped my feet around like she had no concern for my pain at all. She was also rude to me and all of my family . This place was gross and unclean and nurses didn't use gloves and the staff ( other than the triage nurse she was great !!) were the worst I have ever seen . Find another place to put your life in the care of -not here !! Only gave two starts because my triage nurse was professional , Kind, and caring read more
