One of my doctors is located in the medical building at Progress West and uses the hospital for all needs including surgery. That is how I ended up here for a recent surgery. This review is based solely on my surgery experience. Prior to surgery I received 2 calls the week of and both were friendly and informative - very helpful and very patient employees. Upon arrival I followed the direction to the pre-op area. I checked in which was very easy and the guest with me received a guest tag to accompany me. I was very quickly taken to a pre-op room where the nurse explained how we would prep and that the Dr would then come in. After we prepped my guest was allowed to come back until they were ready for me to go to surgery. Surgery was completed as expected, no outliers and my guests were notified. I woke up from anesthesia back in my pre-op room. This wasn't my favorite part... I was groggy and nauseous and it was so loud and busy all around it was a bit overwhelming. Once I was stable they moved me to an overnight room. The room was large and very quiet with the door pulled up. The nurses were all informative and had great bed side manner. They assisted as needed but also encouraged me to do things that I could myself. They showed me how to call for help if it was needed and explained exactly what I should expect overnight. Overall as far as a surgery experience goes, this was amazing. I was always in the loop, someone was there anytime I needed help but outside of that they didn't bother me every hour. I was actually able to rest. The only downside to my experience here was the food is TERRIBLE. I wasn't on a restricted diet so I could order anything. I did. It was all terrible. Even the toast was cold and like chewy... Hopefully you won't need to eat much here. That said I didn't really eat much food which concerned the nurse so she did advise that they had a fridge with food for patients too and she brought me a turkey sandwich and a pudding which was pretty good. I was able to eat it so yay. However, Hubby ate in the cafeteria one morning - he got a breakfast burrito and said it was good. So the cafeteria and patient food may be different.

This hospital is in a class of its own. Some people laugh at the fact that PW tweets their ER wait times, but it's actually really valuable. When I had a kidney stone last year (ouch, seriously) I checked their twitter handle and saw that they had a 15 minute wait time, and guess where I went? Yup, I drove 45 minutes out there because you're not going to be able to beat a 15 minute wait time anywhere in this city. They were prompt, so helpful, and I was out of there within two hours. Unreal. And I was fully loaded with pain medicine! The nurses and doctors were so nice, considerate, and thorough, and it was much appreciated. My grandma actually spent the last week of her life at PW, and while it was obviously a devastating experience, the staff could not have been better. They were compassionate, obviously cared a lot for her as a patient, and held true to their word by always following through with our questions and requests. They even roll this snack cart around the hallways for families because sometimes it's not so easy to get down to the cafeteria to eat. It's little details that make this hospital so wonderful... and I kind of like that it's way out on the edge of O'Fallon because not many people utilize it which makes it that much better for those who do! If you're anywhere close and need to go to a hospital, choose this one. Trust me. If you have a kidney stone just request a shot of pain medicine in your butt. Trust me on that too.

What's joke. Been here 4 hours.

The first time I went in was…read moresuch a pleasant experience, had a nurse practitioner of some sort named Lori, there are 2, one is really nice, other one has no business being in any service industry. I had a big metal door at work slam shut on my shoulder, caused a lot of pain. Went to there not knowing they closed at 8, was 7:20. I felt bad because of the lateness but when this grinch came around the corner and started in with, "why are you here?," "we don't do worker's comp after 6", " I am going to make sure your work knows what time you got here" then the crazy part I had to see her for my injury. The bed side manner just escalated from there. Told what happened and was told the only reason my shoulder hurts is because I was slouching. Sure it was. there was a lot of other things that happened, and since this is being typed one armed, I can't go into that much detail. Then today I saw a peach of a dr. dr car, no clue if spelled right, but that is about as much care as he took with me. his entire premise is that, "well it is getting worse and not better and being slammed by a door is just a minor injury and therefore since we have no clue we will just release you." have to keep that money rolling in from the worker's comp company so who cares about what is really happening with the pateint.

Very slow moving and you don't get a doctor you get a NP. I called my doctor before coming here and I had the opportunity to see the nurse practitioner at her office, but I opted to come here thinking it maybe quicker Service but my appointment time for the nurse practitioner came and went and I'm still waiting to be seen. Terrible.

I've been utilizing this medical office for YEARS. Main reason is that with the type of location…read morethey are, they charge insurance the same rate as a Dr office, but you can typically get in same day like an urgent care. That's important as last time I tried to get into my Dr office thinking I maybe had a sinus infection, they only appt they could get me was more than a week away... Some of the services are limited compared to an urgent care, but they are great for the basics: sprains, flu, sinus infections, strep, aches, etc. Currently you have to sign up for an appointment. This can be done online which is nice. This does change from time to time though, sometimes they do walk ins. I always call in advance to ask. Dr Tim Moore has been helping me here for more than 10 years. He is kind, patient and very knowledgeable. I've also been helped from a female Dr in the last couple of years - I was also pleased with her service. So why the 4 instead of 5? Simple things... last time I called they told me you had to schedule an appt and could only schedule same day. NO mention at all that I could do it online and when you do you don't have to wait until the next day. Be proactive, if someone is already sick they aren't trying to guess and figure things out or wait and wait. Also the front desk can be confusing. One side is for an actual Dr office, the other side is for Convenient Care. This is not clearly labeled.
