Our son has earned his black belt at Mettle Family Martial Arts (formerly Coronado's) and is now a member of the Leadership Council. Along the way, he has trained in a program that blends athletic excellence with character development. Through black belt attributes, intentional goal-setting, and a strong growth mindset, he has built not only physical strength, but resilience, focus, and leadership. Now, as a teen, he lives those values. He shows up with discipline, encourages younger students, and leads with both confidence and humility. What makes Mettle special is its commitment to developing the whole person. Children and teens (and adults) are challenged to grow, supported through setbacks, and guided into becoming capable, grounded individuals. We're deeply grateful for the role this community has played in shaping who he is becoming.

When my daughter turned 3 we decided to get her into a ballet studio as an intro to dance. For the…read moremost part, we had a good experience at BAC but there are some areas where the studio could improve. Positives: Staff was generally nice and knowledgable. I didn't have any issues, but I would say I would have appreciated some updates on my child in class. A simple "your child is doing well with x, but struggling with y" or "they seem to like this or not like this". The BAC community is fairly supportive at the young kids age. Parents are supportive of each other and there isn't any diva behavior. The location of the studio is pretty good and the recital is held at The Florida Theatre which is awesome. The studio has ample parking and bathrooms were clean. Negatives: The younger kids studio seems to be in a pretty old building. Some studios have more modern setups. This is in general and not specific to Jax. I wouldn't say the studio is more or less expensive than others, but I would say that there are some months with holidays that subtract a class. I feel that if you have less classes in a month you shouldn't have to pay for a full month of classes. I do also like how many other studios provide parents with two tickets to the recital albeit maybe they are not half at the best location. It is hard to support your kids with extra practice or support because where they are in terms of learning technique or learning how to dance to choreography is not communicated proactively to you. I would have loved to know where my daughter needed support to help her. Overall, I would suggest you give BAC a try. My daughter enjoyed her first dance class experience. We were likely to stick with BAC for another year and recital, but we moved away out of state. Yesterday, while at the pool we had music playing and I caught my daughter dancing to the music. She wasn't dancing ballet, but she has a love of music and I like to think that was supported and enhanced at BAC.

Our biggest complaint was that they didn't respect our preferences. Whenever we expressed concerns about things happening in class that we weren't comfortable with or inappropriate songs being played, those concerns were ignored. Master LaMasters and Master Williams have been extremely accommodating to allow us to train with our kids, and our kids to train together despite being at different age and skill levels. As the parents we've been able to assist the kids in class, but also learn for ourselves different MMA techniques for self defense. And from the kids' perspective, they've gained a ton of confidence in their own strength and abilities. The days we can't make it in person, we're able to attend online so we don't miss any classes. They also offer online only memberships so our family and friends that are not local are able to train with us too! There's so many cool events as well like "ninja nights", aka parents night out, so we can drop the kids off once a month and enjoy a date night or some kid-free self-care. They've also started doing cosmic dojo parties, light saber classes, family game nights and so much more so we can come together as a community and enjoy great company. I highly recommend joining underground fitness! We're not only a community that bonds over wellness and self defense, but we've all become a family that is constantly growing and encouraging each other to be the best we can be!

When we arrived, our lessons were delayed by 1 hour because they were running behind. We have friends in the area, so we did not mind coming back. Initially, we were impressed with the size of the the facility and the many horse stalls, but as our visit progressed, things got a little confusing. Mainly because the individuals helping us get ready for our lessons were so young and not very good at communicating with us about properly reigning our horses, adjusting the brindles, procedure, etc. My instructor, who was 15 assumed I had riden before and didn't bother telling me anything about what I could expect from my experience at Windemere, or what was expected of me.This was disapointing. Furthermore, the horse I was to ride, was very old and dirty. It looked as if he had not been brushed in days and his face was filthy. Seriously, I even asked for a warm rag, to clean him off, but was ignored. I must've spent at least 20 minutes brushing and getting to know him, b/c he was a little agitated and honestly, I couldn't blame him. His stall was small and dirty too. The wind was really whipping up and since the training arena is so barren, there were hardly any trees to break the wind, dirt was blowing in our eyes and hair. We just kept going round and round the training area and my horse Zippy was very slow and cranky. At about 45 minutes, I asked to stop the lesson. Luckily for my daughter, she got a younger horse and was having a nice time. Not so lucky for my husband, he suffered an injury while there and he never made it on the horse, since the stepping block slipped from under his feet and he came barreling down on it, (we later found out) fracturing two ribs. The staff was genuinely concerned and offered to call an ambulance, but he toughed it out and after writhing on the ground for about 10 minutes, sat out and did not want to cut our lessons short b/c he never gets to spend time with us and wanted us to have a nice time despite what happened. The owner offered to allow our daughter to take a free lesson in the future since her dad could not take a lesson. I thought this was nice, but after much thought have decided to decline. Seriously, you get what you pay for, but it would've been nice to spend some time with an experienced instructor to truly give you an Equestrian lesson prior to having mounted the horse and starting the actual lesson. Sometimes less is more. More time educating, less exprienced riders and less time going endlessly around the arena would have been better. An experience not so soon to be forgot, and not necessarily for the right reasons.
