I was thinking finding this center would be a good thing for my children but our first experience…read morethere showed me I was 100% wrong about that. Due to the rain my children who play basketball were told to come up there for practice with their coach and when arriving there we were told to sign in there was a long line of children waiting to also sign in. I stood in line with my two sons one Caucasian and one African American I myself am Caucasian thinking no big deal right this is a center for kids nothing bad is gonna happen here ....we watched every person also African American sign in and walk to the gym no words being exchanged between them and the man behind the counter. It becomes time for my Caucasian son to sign himself in and I grabbed the pen for him to use and the African American man says " don't you grab my pen until they speak to me" I smiled because I was thinking he was messing with them since they are 9 years old and shy so maybe he was just kidding no he wasn't...I tell my children to speak even though I felt the request was outrageous since he didn't ask anyone else to speak to him but even after my son says hello to the man he insisted they speak by saying "so neither of you are going to speak to me" again I the parent was speaking to him no need for my children to speak so I explained to him there is no reason to make them speak to him they are shy and now feel uncomfortable because he's being extremely rude to them in front of everyone and they just watched over 10 kids go in without any problem and he just gets meaner. He then argues with me for a payment that my children's coach had paid in front of us and eventually my children are allowed in to practice after hes spoken to the coach. So after speaking with the coach and making sure it was ok myself and their two little brothers 1 year old & 4 years old sat in the car because the hostility from the man was so intense that I didn't feel comfortable anymore. I hope we never have to practice there again. I wish I would of known how it was going to go because I would of signed them in myself and took them away from that situation. Racism is real and it's everywhere for all races. My son loves his team and his friends and he doesn't see anything wrong with that he doesn't understand why people like this make him feel out of place and different 2 of his brothers are African American he doesn't understand this racism from people he doesn't even know and why it's only directed at him and to single a 9 year old out in front of a gym full of people is wrong for any reason. They are not required to speak and if you do require something like that at your establishment request it from EVERY single child that comes in not just the ones you feel are different!

Still in business after the covid shutdown…read more Great atmosphere, great session. Oh, you will work.. sweat and need water. You will also feel more able when you leave. I've never boxed before, they take it slow and work with you. The trainer is great; he has loads of energy and keeps you moving. Definitely headed back. Driving directions will lead you to the back of the building. The boxing yard entrance is on the corner.

Completely humbled by the hour long session here. Made me realize I'm not in as good as shape as I thought I was. The yard is completely unassuming, grungy, hot and humid, beat up, ghetto, old school, and hidden off the side of the road in an old warehouse in springfield. Perfect. Monday through Thursday from 6pm - 7pm and Saturday from 9am - 10am you get an hour long intense cardio workout with a mixture of different exercises that Hector will break you down with. Want to take a break or rest a little without being told to? Be ready because Hector will get on your ass immediately and get you going again! These hour long sessions are a group fitness class that combines fundamental boxing techniques with calisthenic (bodyweight resistance) exercises to improve stamina, power, and tone. Expect a full-body workout through various boot-camp-style drills, shadowboxing, jumping rope, footwork, punching heavy bags, and abdominal exercises. Memberships consists of $10 drop-in, $99 monthly, or $299 for personal training. It's a blast and I can't wait to train here more often. Lots of good people here in a friendly competitive environment where everyone wants to push themselves to the max. Don't worry if you've never boxed before. Things to know and bring: Get a set of decent boxing gloves (I paid 40 bucks for mine and they work just fine - 16oz Title Classic gloves - I'm 5'10" 180lbs), hand wraps (not required but can help with the bags after repeated hitting), bring lots of water, bring a towel, yoga matt if you have one for the ab session at the end, good workout shoes, light workout clothes, come motivated, geared up to sweat, and ready to work your ass off.

The gym itself is pretty nice…read more *Not a lot of rowers so our group was split into two separate heats which is fine, but our workout ended on the rower (If you made it back to the beginning of the AMRAP) so I ran into problems when I went to go back to the rower for more Cals but there wasn't one available, had to watch the clock run out of time with no rower. **I travel a lot for work and drop in to gyms all across the country, this gyms drop in fee is a little higher then most. Not only is it higher then most but you also have to pay separate for a shirt (No shirt/drop in fee combination here). So I spent I believe $45 for a shirt and the drop in...Ridiculous. ***I am in the military and asked for a military discount. The owner laughed in my face and said he didn't do a military discount because he was in the military too. You would think that he would be more inclined to give a military discount since he is in the military himself. Not the case. ****His wife though, was very kind and tried to be as accommodating as possible but was limited due to his constraints. *****The workout was straight off the Crossfit Website. UPADTE: As you can see below the owner and head trainer had a rebuttal for literally every observation, comment and opinion I had of this gym. A clear "I'm right you're wrong mentality" My review stands and I believe this demonstrates the exact character, mentality and attitude I (semi) experienced while there from him; NOT the members or the community (they were great). Good luck on the business.

Scaling exercises to your ability is strongly encouraged. The people that work out here are very supportive and friendly and we always have a good time working together to get healthier. I restarted training with him to become stronger, build endurance, and tone up, and he's helped me accomplish all of that and more. At the beginning of the year, I told him one of my biggest goals was to be able to do unassisted pull-ups. Through his consistent coaching and encouragement, I can now do not just one, but several unassisted pull-ups! As an added bonus, I've also lost 14 lbs along the way.
