I requested a quote to have a tree removed. I was surprised to get one via text message but after researching I decided to go with Professional Tree Service. They are licensed and insured, and offered the best price. The crew came out as scheduled and started working. They were very professional and showed great experience. They cut down the tree without damaging our fence, moved the wood as requested and cleaned up the area. A couple of days later we noticed some damage to an amateur radio antenna. "Professional" Tree Service is just another shoddy, UNLICENSED, totally unprofessional scammer who goes disaster-chasing to make money on distressed people. This "Charlie" was stupid enough to try to tell me he didn't need a license to do tree work. I told him I expect anyone doing tree work for me to prove they are licensed, he replied "forget it, I don't need you or this job", then he turned and left. Gave me an estimate on 2 trees. We talked about the method of payment. He said he preferred cash but would take a check. We communicated through text about rescheduling the appointment. I asked him how he wanted me to make out the check. He then demanded cash only. I got a few sarcastic text messages from him. I tried to ignore how rude he was. I just wanted to get the job done. I called to talk about the method of payment. He started arguing with me and said we never had an agreement about check payment. He demanded cash. I guess he quotes a lower price if you pay him under the table. I was not comfortable with that and cancelled. He said he didn't care, he had 30 other customers to take my place. I would rather pay extra to a reputable company that treats their customers with respect and stand by their work. If I were you I would avoid this company at all costs. I thoroughly expect this review will get a nasty response. Take a look at some of the other negative reviews and better yet, take a close look at his responses to those reviews. You can see what an unprofessional company this is by reading the responses. No reputable company treats customers like this and refuses legitimate payment for work. If they ask for payment under the table you have to ask yourself why. Best to go with a reputable company that gives you an estimate in writing and isn't shy about taking a check or debit/credit card for the work they do. That way there is no disputing the transaction. Update: Had a reputable company come out to give an estimate. They are fully insured and accept check, debit or credit card. Everything above board. They put everything in writing and gave me a quote that was $200 cheaper than the cash only quote that Professional Tree Service gave. read more

Professional Tree Service is irresponsible, does lousy workmanship. They cut limbs on trees allowing them to fall on a chain link fence damaging it. Left a large crack in a concrete sidewalk. When giving a date to do work they were a no-show no call. I will never use them again they're very unprofessional just plain stink. read more

I called Professional Tree Service on 5/12/22 , I got a call back from Charlie, very professional, polite, we discussed him coming to my house on 5/14/22 and giving an estimate on a tree . He gave me a time of 1:00, and told me he calls before he comes. I also reminded him we have two very protective dogs. I was at Carolina Beach 10:00 on 5/22 and my wife calls and tells me there is someone in our backyard, she thought he jumped fence, but apparently he went thru the gate as he texted me later and told me "he is a civilized man and he doesn't jump fences" my first thought was why didn't he ring the doorbell first? Maybe I'm crazy, I don't know? On my way home he calls me and tells me he didn't agree to a time, and he always calls before he shows up? Yeah, it doesn't make any sense? He gets all mad and tells me to call someone else to do the work, and hangs up on me. Maybe he was having a bad day, I'm not sure? I definitely wouldn't recommend them. read more

We paid this company $250.00 to deliver 1/2 cord of wood. What we received was about 1/4 cord. After messaging Charlie, the owner, he stated we received the correct number of PIECES. That was new to use to learn a cord of wood is based on the number of pieces. We messaged Charlie again and he came to our home. After his inspection he agreed we did not get what we paid for. He came on a Monday and said he would deliver the balance by the weekend. It's been 6 weeks now and no more wood received. This is not an honest company and Charlie is not a man of his word. We thought when he came out, on a holiday, he was a man of integrity but we have been proven wrong. Charlies doesn't understand how to calculate a cord of wood. He said he goes by what he sees on the internet and it says 250 pieces of wood equals about a 1/2 cord. If one truly understands the firewood business they know this is not the case. He also admitted he has elderly customers who can't handle the larger logs so he cuts them smaller. While that is nice and generous to help the elderly it's still deceitful and dishonest!! In his eye the more pieces you get the more wood you have. We would never recommend this company or do business with them again. Most expensive wood we've ever purchased! read more

After reading all the five star reviews on google and here, I am very upset about the job Charles came to do and did not finish! I hired him to grind stumps...after explaining how it would be done, and the clean up, I was impressed, agreed upon the price and made the appointment . He called two days before the scheduled day and asked if he could do the job that afternoon, and I agreed. His employee, I believe is Mike, showed up and was very rude and in a bad mood!!...I was just about to tell him to leave...then Charles(owner!) came for a short time and left!...before Mike left I went to inspect the job and asked him about the huge piles left from the grinding, which were not cleaned and raked out like I was told they would be...Mike said that would all sink !?...Another stump was just left with a hole in the ground and a pile of chips and dirt next to it on the lawn, which is probably dead now! Charles never returned and wanted me to pay Mike......A VERY big mistake on my part! I called to tell Charles, the owner of Professional Tree Service, that I was not happy....3 times he was coming to fix everything, and I waited, and waited and waited.....never to see or hear from him again!!...so much for trying to support local businesses.!!
