I have worked with PSG in the past. I applied to a craig's list post and the same day had a call from Kathy. I went into the office the next day and the position I applied for was available and ready. I started work on Monday. While I discussed my pay rate they were more that willing to accommodate me. Everything was set up VIA e-mail and off I went. I worked for the company over a year before they decided to close but the entire time I worked Kathy was in contact with me. I am now seeking employment once again and PSG is the first place I went to. I spoke to Kathy and she was honest with me, there is no opening right now. Thank you for all your professionalism and care over the last year. Anyone that has dealt with agencies before knows that nothing is definite. You can see an add on a post and so does 100 other job seekers. I have dealt with just about every agency in the greater Boston area and the only one that I ever landed a job with is PSG. It doesn't matter if they change their name from Professional Staffing Group (PSG) to ProPivotal Staffing; the service quality and value are still the same--HORRIBLE--just hiding under a different/new name. I selected a phone screen date for October 14th at 12:15 pm (confirmation email received), to which NO ONE CALLED ME! Nor did I receive any follow-up to my voicemail left that same day. I was under the impression that because Ezra S reached out to me I would be interviewing with him, but I realized the call was scheduled with one of their other recruiters, Rica DC. In my opinion and experience, Rica is a HORRIBLE RECRUITER, as are most, if not all of their current staff of recruiters, as well as their Account Manager, Frank G! They take no initiative to help job seekers with the process, and they have poor follow-up practices (basically they have NONE). The last interaction with a recruiter made me feel like I was being gaslit into believing I was the reason I wasn't getting selected by their clients, not because they lacked effective and timely communication -- and they provided no feedback or real palpable support on how an applicant can improve so they can be successful in being assigned to their client pool. I reached out to ProPivotal (aka PSG) for employment assistance back in March 2024. They didn't follow up with me again until June 2024 when Rica reached out with an Emerson College opportunity. We had a great interview, she told me she would pass my resume on to the client, and I would hear a decision back from her by the end of the week. Needless to say, I had to chase Rica AND ProPivotal (aka PSG) for almost a month to get my answer from them about moving forward, because they never answered my many voicemails or emails left to them during that time. I hadn't received a follow-up from ANYONE since my initial interview in June 2024. The next time anyone contacted me was in August 2024, and it was only to answer a survey about how well Rica's performance was in helping me find employment (THE NERVE!). I take issue with the continuous ghosting tactics performed by the recruiters at ProPivotal (aka PSG). It has gotten insanely unprofessional at this point, and my opinion and experience with ProPivotal (aka PSG) has drastically gone down. I have to say, since switching from PSG Staffing to ProPivotal Staffing, I have felt abandoned, overlooked, underserved, and beyond frustrated with how their staff performs recruitment. I never had such difficulties with PSG and always managed to land short and long-term assignments without issue. I have more than qualifiable skills that plenty of their clients would be more than happy to have on their team, even temporarily. So I am truly disappointed, and at this point, done with ProPivotal (aka PSG) as an employment resource. It has been no resource or help to me since 2018. Until changes are made to their business practices (service, quality, values, etc.) and even their recruiting staff, I will no longer be seeking them for assistance with job placement. Also, I will be filing a formal complaint with The Massachusetts Department of Labor and Employment, Employment, placement, and staffing agencies program. I suggest that anyone who has gone through a similar experience with ProPivotal (aka PSG) or any other staffing agency do the same. There needs to be some audit, reflection, and accountability taken on the ends of all staffing agencies, and if this is how we get them all to be more accountable, then so be it. read more

She said someone else would call me later. Many weeks later no one has, but i received a satisfaction survey today. Tacky & unprofessional! How sad to see a great business automate and become a shell of what it was! I have needed to find temp work sometime, and have found PSG so helpful multiple times over the years. I recently submitted my resume to them again to find work after moving and am very disappointed. They have apparently fully automated their process, so you get impersonal emails once in a while that you might be a match for a job. You're offered a 15-minute screening call that you schedule online. After the screening, if you're a good match, you get to talk to a recruiter for a few minutes. Then, you might be able to talk to the person who manages PSG's relationship with the client offering the job. I made it to this point a few weeks back and was told I'd hear back later that week. No word. I followed up via text with the recruiter who replied that he had no new information but should by end of day. That was weeks ago. Now, I get that automated email about the same position every week. I call, text, and email to follow-up. No one answers the phone, and no one replies. I even tried to go through the chat on their website. It's a bot, insisting it's a real person, telling me my information has been referred to the appropriate department and I will be contacted. No details on when or by whom. They were so friendly and helpful up until this past year or so. There was always a personal touch and lots of support. That seems to be a thing of the past. read more

gave my info over the phone to a staffing manager who said I would be a great fit and she hoped that after a zoom meeting with her directing manager that I woud have a good chance at the job. On the day of the scheduled zoom meeting I waited 40 minutes and no one(Victoria) ever came on the line. I called the staffing manager and left a voice mail about it but no return call. I sent an email she emailed me back saying she would look into it and contact me back as soon as she could......never contacted me. I wish you can give these people negative stars. I went to them thinking that most of the posters here and on other sites were just jade people who were not willing to do hard work and fight for a job. I was so wrong. This company has terrible business practices. 1. Most of the jobs are very low paying, so don't think about making a livable wage. 2. Many of the recruiters are lazy and under informed. 3. All of there unemployment stuff is through an third party company, which you are not given the information to contact. 4. They lie alot and if they do not see promise in you they just ignore your calls, rather than telling you they do not have any jobs for you. 5. They prey on kids fresh out of school. 6. Many of the staff are unprofessional. 7. At the current time you cannot actually apply to jobs on their website. Overall, this in an opinion you must make the choice for your self but you are better off finding a job yourself, Linkedin, or other temp agencies. Atrium is pretty good. read more

At first I wasn't sure PSG was the place for me. I found myself in a situation where I was looking for work - but at a short-term, part-time, level. I'd worked with PSG in the past to fulfill my own staffing needs and my impression was that short-term, gig type work was not in their wheelhouse. During an initial call I was told that my impression was ill founded and that my situation was something they absolutely were cut out for and that they'd be more than happy to work with me. Great! Unfortunately, my experience lines up almost exactly with my initial impressions. The bulk of the opportunities (and when I say bulk, I mean all but 2 out of dozens) that have been passed along are full-time and are incompatible with my current life situation that we had talked about in detail during our initial call. Well, what of the two opportunities that looked promising? The first landed in my email and checked all the boxes for my wants and needs. I mean, it was perfect - if I were inventing a position for myself it wouldn't have been as good of a fit as this appeared to be. Obviously that's no guarantee it would work out, there could be dozens (if not more) of applicants just as eager as myself, but I was excited to throw my hat in the ring all I had to do was click on the link in the email and set up an interview time on the recruiters calendar. It was a dead link. No phone number in the email, so I replied directly to the recruiter...and again the next day...and the day after that. TWELVE days later she got back to me with the news that the position was no long available. Twelve days after I attempted to contact her within fifteen minutes of the initial email. So thanks. For the second, I had set up a time for a phone conversation about a position for 10:00AM, I shuffled some stuff around in my schedule so that I could give my undivided attention and be completely free of distractions for the call. It's only a fifteen minute call, but treat it like a job interview, right? At 10:06 a new message hit my inbox that our call had be rescheduled to later in the day. Unfortunately, I had managed to grab a one-day gig through other means and wasn't available so I sent a message asking if it was possible to talk the next day. No response. Another email to the recruiter the next day. That was three days ago and I haven't heard back. Extremely frustrating to shuffle my schedule around for a call only to have it cancelled six minutes into its supposed occurrence and not to have messages returned - thanks for respecting my time as a potential candidate. The fact that my inbox is continually buried in opportunities that do not meet the criteria that we have discussed both in writing and during calls is a bit frustrating. I also get it, I'm sure the process is automated and there's only so much you can do with whatever filtering system they have in place. My experience with the two opportunities I was interested in is a bit different though. It shows me that I'm not valued as an individual and am just a number/metric to them. As an employer I can't argue with the results I had gotten from them in the past, but as a potential employee there has been nothing positive about the experience at all and I have received more personalized attention and better results elsewhere. read more

Having temped through PSG recently, I think they have an undeserved negative reputation. My recruiter, Dung, listened to me on the type of job I was looking for, and contacted me with temp opportunities at nonprofits, as I'd requested. I worked a day as part of their Guaranteed Work Program. This means that you sit on call in their office in Boston for the day, and go out to an assignment if any calls come in that day. They give you a computer to use for job searching while you wait to be sent out. On the day I worked, no calls came in for day of temps, so I spent the 8 hours in the PSG office. A little boring, but worth it to get paid while job searching. My next assignment was 2 weeks in the Provost office of Northeastern University. I had a great supervisor and enjoyed the assignment. Edit: I ended up returning to the Provost office of Northeastern University for a 3 month assignment Nov - Jan. I have no complaints about working with PSG. If I need to temp during a future job search, I'd call them. read more

First things first: I applied for a particular position on CL and (like everybody says), when you are called, they don't even talk about the job you applied for! It's weird. I was asked what fields I was interested in. I appreciated this, because when I came for the actual interview I was able to go into more detail about what I wanted to do. I was just really checking them out to see what they were like and yeah, so far- not pleased. Not that they were unhelpful, but that I believe they try to put you wherever just for their bonus. What made me angry: I was sent out on an informational interview on what turned out to be a NON EXISTENT JOB (at least for now). Then I was pushed on a phone call to follow up to do something at that particular company that I specifically did not want to do. She believes if I went in and did this work that so I could be in the company to 'create a position for myself'. Seems sketchy. She was SURE I could do this. She acted like I was so great- it seemed weird. As soon as she said that I could go in, do work I didn't want to do, and then create a position for myself, I knew I was being bamboozled! All they care about is making money off of you getting a position. You can turn them down, sure, but they seem EXCITED about getting you a job because you are money to them. I thought I would be helped when I got there, but nope! I guess this company is good if you are desperate to do ANYTHING, but not so good if you are looking for something specific. . Advice if you are going: 1: Do the application BEFORE you go- it saves time 2: the MS office test is touch sensitive- so your answer is immediately wrong if you click your cursor on something other than what it expects you to do. It's really not a hard test though. Some questions are tough, but whatever! 3: YOU ARE ALLOWED TO SAY NO. Don't let them push you. I'm feeling pushed right now by one of the recruiters. Like I said before, you are money! I wonder how much commission they get! I think it's best for ME to stay away from them. I'll never say "DON'T GO TO THE PSG!" because everybody has different needs, and every recruiter is different, so you MAY have a better experience. Judging from the reviews maybe not :) But don't get your hopes up and just don't let them try to bamboozle you. And if anybody can figure out what their bell system means, i'd like to know! Extremely dishonest, pushy and a bait and switch scam. I answered an ad, they called me to interview for it and then couldn't stop interviewing, marketing and pushing their other 'supposed' opportunities. No matter how many times I tried to get back to the advertised position, the 'executive recruiter' just kept pushing other ideas I am not interested in. Like so many others here, I signed up with them, went into the Boston office and never got anything out of it. No follow-up at all, which unfortunately is not rare for temp agencies anymore, but seems to be the norm for PSG. That was 10 years ago and thought about getting in touch again as part of my job search. I saw some of their ads on Craigslist that had the following phrase: "recent college graduate." This is code for - we aren't interested in older people for this position .....and the position will probably pay garbage. It's illegal to discriminate against someone's age in a job search but they they will never tell you this is the reason they won't hire or place you. Yet, they post this in their ads: "Professional Staffing Group is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants for employment regardless of race, gender, gender identity, gender expression, AGE, color, religion, disability, veteran's status, sexual orientation, or any other protected factor." read more

Having found a position that was well within my wheelhouse, I submitted my application via PSG. Contacted by an SDR to set up meeting to discuss the role and come into PSG to set up profile. After about 1-1.5 hours worth of online assessments, form filling, I met with the recruiter responsible for the space I was interested in, only to learn that the role I initially responded to didn't actually exist but rather was more indicative of jobs they "have had in the past, or hope to be getting". So right off the back, I was frustrated because that seemed like gross misrepresentation to me. After continuing to talk - and meet with couple of other PSG staff that might have had roles I might be interested in, I then was told of an impending meeting to take place with company that might be good fit, within a week. Our initial session ended and told they would circle back a week or so. However within 24 hours I (like others commenting here) received their online survey. I filled it out based on my initial assessment/meeting but like others, there really was nothing to comment on because nothing had yet happened, except for my time being wasted since the job I'd originally applied to never existed, and everything else was "pending" After not hearing back from recruiter for about 10 days, I emailed to get status update. Nothing. Two weeks later I reached out again, even including list of "jobs" they'd posted (to see if any of them actually existed and if so, could we potentially work toward these). Again - no response. After being brought in for a job that never existed, filling out form after form, only to be told that they would circle back with me after a meeting about potential job opening (and I'd be happy if the job didn't pan out but to have to chase them down to learn of anything), only to then be completely ignored in follow-ups makes me wonder; on what planet does PSG get to use the term PROFESSIONAL in their monicker?!? This has been one of the LEAST PROFESSIONAL experiences I have endured in my job search. Ever. I applied for a position with Trip Advisor and 14 hours later at 7:51am, I received two emails from the same recruiter asking me to schedule a phone interview for a different position but one that apparently matched my background. I replied within MINUTES, chose a time, and the recruiter confirmed this time almost immediately. 12pm today rolled around and I didn't receive a call from anyone. I waited and at 12:18pm I sent an email to this recruiter. Instead of a response via email, I received a text stating she had "tried to call but to no avail" which of course doesn't make sense. Either you called or didn't. I have had no response to the two phone calls I made, the chat on the website or the texts I sent. This is a SCAM! Please be careful and don't fall for it like I did. read more

PSG is a bad Temp Agency. It's not even that I dislike them, they are just bad at their job. It's sorta like being in a relationship with someone who just never returns your calls. I went in for an interview, they took notes and said they would check in with me 2x a week. I said, hey I know sometimes you all don't call, would it be easier if I just called you? The rep assured me that it wasn't necessary. "I like to check in with all the people I work with." I'm no stranger to straight faced BS but this was just frustrating. Needless to say they never called me. I was already getting assignments from other temp firms so I saved myself the frustration and didn't call them. When I tried to use PSG 4 years ago I called and called and called. Never heard a peep from them. Save yourself the trouble, if you want a temp firm go with Monument or Beacon Hill. I signed up here several years ago when unemployed and worked for them a short time. I'd never recommend them to anyone. It's not because it took them three hours to have me fill out W-4s, take a quick Microsoft Office test, and talk with me for five minutes. It's not because when I was in there at 26 I was older than pretty much the entire staff of the agency, most of whom seemed to be recent HR grads who spoke like they were reading bad scripts. No, it was because one of their people lied to the client I was working for, costing me the assignment when the client found out, and then lied to me as well, blaming the situation on me. Dumbfoundingly UN-professional, despite their name. It was a complete clusterf*ck when I dealt with them. I don't know if I was more embarrassed for them for how they ran their business, or for me for having worked for them for those few weeks. They may have improved since then, but that's the funny thing about bad reputations, you don't often get a second chance to reverse them, which is why it's best to avoid bad reputations to begin with. I've steered colleagues away from hiring from these people, and I've steered friends away from wasting valuable time seeking employment there. When you're unemployed you're already feeling bad enough -- there are too many other agencies out there to make yourself feel worse by dealing with nonsense like PSG's. read more

PSG is one of the most unprofessional and frustrating companies I've ever had the misfortune of coming across. Allow me to share my sordid tale. About three months ago, I was finishing some contract work on a research team. As I knew my contribution to the project was nearly complete, I was perusing the Internet for some jobs posts. In my search, I found a position that seemed very well-suited for me, working on another research team. All of the contact info led me to PSG, so I sent my resume and cover letter. They contacted me by phone that week to set up a phone interview. I got stood up for a phone interview twice. They lost my resume. I got transferred to a new contact at one point. Then I find out the job I applied for didn't even exist, but "represented the types of jobs they normally fill." My "interview," when it did finally happen, lasted all of 2 minutes-- I've had passing conversations with people on the subway who ascertained more information about my career goals. PSG posts positions that do NOT EXIST. Maybe they should spend a little less time over-posting fake jobs on Craigslist, and a little more time with their in-house training. read more

I sent my resume into PSG and was contacted a few days later about a job in my field. We talked on the phone and the recruiter had job descriptions for two positions in my field and a few in the works that sounded great. I was told location, job title, and a brief description of these jobs. He asked if I wanted to come in so they could get to know me. Pretty standard "let's make sure you're not a weirdo" practice for staffing firms. The experience was terrible from the moment I walked in the door. I was plunked on a computer and made to fill out a lot of paperwork that would only apply to temps (I was there about perm jobs.). After about 20 minutes my interviewer came down. I was told I would be speaking with a woman and it was a man, so that was a little bit weird. We talked for a little bit about my past experiences. He then listed the jobs he had open. There were only about six of them in a huge firm. No jobs at all in my field. The jobs the recruiter gave my SPECIFIC DETAILS about were totally made up. They had absolutely nothing open in my field, or related fields. The entire process was a colossal waste of my time. I've worked with a lot of staffing agencies, like I said, and never before have I been brought in under false pretenses. read more

Something about PSG really confuses me. I found a job on Craigslist that I thought I was well-suited for, so naturally I applied and lo and behold I get a call from PSG saying they received my resume and would like to set up an interview. I asked if the job was still available and they said that it was an ad and that the jobs they fill are very much like that job. Okay... So I go in for an interview, my interviewer is pretty nice, I was told that my resume was impressive and that I'm a great fit for lots of their jobs and they're optimistic they will find me something great. Nothing yet. I was told by my interviewer that I would be contacted on a weekly basis, even if there were no jobs for me, just so that I could be updated. Did this happen? No. IF I get a call from PSG (which is quite infrequently), and if you call them back, they're NEVER there. So you leave a message. If they actually get back to you, it's about 2 or 3 days later...so what is the point of calling me in the first place?? Case in point: I was on the T and saw a call from PSG but didn't pick up because I was going underground. Once I was above ground (honestly, less than 5 minutes later) I listened to the message, which said there is a job that might interest me and that I should call back ASAP so we can discuss it. Obviously I called back immediately but the person who left the message wasn't there...?? So, I leave a message. That was on Tuesday. It is now Friday. I have not heard back from them. This is only one of MANY times that this has happened. It doesn't make sense to me. If responding to the job is so urgent for me, then it should also be urgent for them to get back to me!! They should either call me to tell me that the job was (within the span of 5 minutes) given to someone else...or they should call me and tell me about the job!! So is this place a scam? I am yet to find out. It has been more than a month, but I already found a job myself. Yes, a month isn't that much time...but if I can find myself an actual, career-oriented and non-admin job, and they can't even get me an interview...then that raises some serious questions in my book...because it seems like this place is ALL TALK and no action. :( read more

First off, I think the two 5-star reviews by Sally and Mark-- listed about PSG are Spam, read their reviews carefully and you may see what I mean.... The reason why I wanted to write my review is because I still feel a little jilted and hurt by my experience with this company. I signed up with this staffing agency about a year ago. I had just graduated college, my feet were still a little wet, but I feel to this day (1 year later) that this agency was the absolute worst choice I could have made for my initial job search experience. When I first got to the place, they sat me down and had me do a couple of tests. The greeting was lukewarm, but then again I felt a little nervous--so I sat down and took the tests. This took up about 45-minutes of my time. Afterwards I had to wait a bit to see the staffing agents. Then I met with their staffing agents. I didn't feel like they were reading bad scripts like Pete S. felt --In fact, I honestly felt the two girls I met with were extremely nice and informed-however, after my interview they said I seemed extremely promising but that they specialize in temp to perm work. (I was searching for a permanent position) I was a little surprised since their advertising says TEMPORARY and PERMANENT positions. Anyway, Stephanie told me that though they have mostly Temporary positions they would call me if they found any permanent spots that would be good for me. I e-mailed back Stephanie right after my interview (my agent) and told her that I appreciated seeing her and that after our chat I realized that temp-to-perm might be a good way to get my feet wet since I was still new at job-searching and since her company specialized in this--I felt like I should give it a shot. She wrote me a short e-mail telling me she'd be in touch if she had anything--2 months went by--and I never received one call from the agency telling me if they had anything--so I sent Stephanie another e-mail with a link to a job I found listed through PSG that sounded great. I told her that I was interested in knowing more about it and to call me back or e-mail. She never did. I called twice after that and she wasn't "in-the-office" so I left a message with the girl who was taking her calls. However, I never heard back from her. I was surprised--she seemed like a very nice , organized person--which lead me to believe this was a strong sign of poor management and lack of communication. I found exactly zero job interviews with this company. Zero offers! Meanwhile, I got about 10 job interviews on my own by surfing BostonWorks and applying directly. Overall, I don't feel my treatment by PSG isn't something I could have prevented. Afterall a week later, I spoke with one other staffing agency (NOT PSG) and she called me every 3-7 days with a different potential job. I came to the unfortunate conclusion that this agency seriously had problems with their staff. I've heard things about high turn-over rates and that they aren't very good at calling clients back. I think I was just one of the ones who got pushed into the stacks. I had an awful experience and as a new job-seeker I personally felt that this company didn't do a good job keeping in touch. If you read my reviews, you will know I have never done this--*written a 1-star review--so I hope it hits home that I certainly feel strongly about this place and the way that they run their business. I deeply encourage new job seekers and college grads to avoid working with this company--they might give you false hope in an interview then never follow up. read more

I applied for a job back in 2011 through PSG staffing it was an ad that was on Craisgslist for a an EA position. I went for the interview which was a bit of a disaster from the beginning. The girl who sets up the interviews had a snafu with the paperwork she sent me she was supposed to send a job application but ended up sending me and I9 form and trying to get her to call or email me back about it was difficult. I went in for my interview and had the computer test, typing test, filled out the rest of the paperwork and met with one of the team members Justin and another one by the name of Dave. Justin was nice but there was nary a mention of what job I came for ( I am new to the tricks that the recruiters play, although once a recruiter myself in a different setting) and he said I could meet with Dave and that he handled a certain area of staffing, which escapes me now. Dave came into the room and came across as being a slick character, he sat in the chair at an angle like he was a cool guy driving a BMW and proceeded to ask me questions and then hit me with this statement "I'm not going to lie to you, I look at you as money and I know that sounds a little harsh, but I'm kinda known as the guy who won't sugarcoat it, if I don't find you a job I don't make money and neither do you." I was mortified but didn't say much as this job search has been an emotional one for me and I felt like he kicked me in the gut. I want to make money and I know that PSG makes money off of me if I find a job but it sucks to be told that right out..and I value honesty. I got a routine email from the president of PSG. Aaron Green, after about 8 weeks later, asking about how my experience was and so I thought this was a great time to tell him of my experience. He was very apologetic and very nice and told me he was going to get a team of people that could work with me an followed up with me the next day...in hindsight I wish I could work with Aaron..he is the standard that PSG's recruiters should look to and follow and I am not sure why they aren't. Aaron set me up with a team that he said would be more informative and attentive but it was not to be. This team of PSG recruiters Brian and Symone and a Senior Leader, Jessica contacted me the day of and after my conversation with Aaron and all were attentive, they asked me what I was looking for, where I was willing to go and what I wanted to do. Jessica called me and asked me to send over my resume and promised me help with LinkedIN. That was the last time I heard from anyone at PSG. They told me they would call me to follow up bi-weekly on jobs...NOTHING. Jessica only works two days a week so I didn't expect to speak with her as much. She did rework my resume and tell me what she thought I should go after for jobs based on my work history. I appreciated her feedback, but after that NOTHING! I emailed Aaron a few days ago to let him know that I haven't heard anything from this team he assigned me to and that I saw another position for a Project Coordinator that I wanted to apply for and had emailed both Symone and Brian and got crickets. I told him I wanted nothing more from PSG because they were not good at what they do. All he could say was "thanks for letting me know." On Good Friday. I got a call from Symone saying she couldn't find the position I was looking for and if I could send her the listing she would follow up on it and get back to me, I sent her the listing that night and it's now Wednesday (4/11) and nothing. I thought Jessica was awesome in helping me with my resume but even she didn't follow up on my LinkedIN as promised and I never heard from her again. All in all PSG's follow up and commitment to helping someone who signs on with their company is SEVERELY lacking. I would NOT recommend this company when even the President's assigned team fails to follow up. It says a LOT. I think PSG should give me a job to teach their recruiters how to treat people, follow up and have sensitivity to the job search process, instead of making the focus slick young recruiters, in a flashy office, hip music droning through the speakers, with absolutely no clue what their clients are going through. read more

Companies like PSG are the primary basis why Yelp needs to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE institute a half-star system up in here, people! Or maybe a negative-star rating. Something to indicate when a company is really performing below any level of positivity, whatsoever! PSG deserves not ONE SINGLE SOLITARY SNIPPET of star! Roped in by their over-placed advertisements, I called PSG and spoke initially with Jared. I spoke at length with him about my qualifications, interests, experiences, etc. I specified that I was NOT interested in temp work (I have a BBA and 3+ years of marketing experience...I was NOT about to start stuffing envelopes). Asking me when I would be available, I let him know that I would be moving to the area in about two weeks and would be available to work around same time. Jared then rudely informed me that PSG could not help me at this time and that I should call HIM back when I was in town. Whaaaaa?!?! He said that ALL of their positions were immediate openings and would be filled immediately and that if I was not available immediately, then there was nothing they could do. Who fills positions immediately without an interview? Hold up....ohhhhh I know who - TEMP WORK...which I stated i was NOT even remotely interested in. So, giving PSG the benefit of the doubt, I called back in two weeks and scheduled an interview. Upon arriving at the office, I was really shocked. If I could define what it means to be in the Rat Race, I would refer people to the pictorial example of the PSG office. Rows and rows of bench-style desks where reps are sitting elbow-to-elbow jabbering away on head sets while crappy Top-40 bubble gum hits are playing in an overhead sound system. After being greeted, I spent the next hour filling out forms and taking ridiculous Microsoft Office & Typing Tests. Remind me again, why I need to take these tests if I am not interested in taking temp jobs? Surprise, no one had an answer for me there. After that fun little waste of time, I was led into a four foot by four foot cube with a desk and a computer, where I would spend another hour speaking to different reps about my experiences, resume, interests, etc. (Hellooo - did Jared not take notes the first time we went through this?) Throughout the conversation, Sara (another rep, who was nice, but not helpful) continually brought the conversation around to temp jobs - would I be interested in one if it was the 'right' fit, would I be interested in one if it was temp-to-perm, how do I feel about being 'on-call' for office work? Apparently I had not made myself clear at this point about the temp work. As soon as Sara realized I was not kidding about no temp work, she sent in a colleague of hers who was in charge of "creative." Basically, she spoke to me about freelance, which, in case you were wondering, is a fancy-pants creative-world term for TEMP WORK. Aside from this, all she had to offer me were positions do exactly the same job was I was doing now, which, if I wanted to do that, I wouldn't be asking you for help to find me another job! The 'creative' rep reworded the same job offer several times before she finally got the clue that I was completely not interested. If you think it ends here, you've got another thing coming. After spending over two hours at this office, meeting with three different people and taking a bunch of grade-school levels tests, I received NOT ONE follow-up call, email or any sort of outreach from PSG. The only form of communication, if you could call it that, was a spam mass email asking me to rate their services. SERVICES?? You can imagine how I responded to that form. Lo and behold, after sending them a brief explanation about their LACK OF services, Sara finally called me back. She left me a message. I promptly returned her call, that very same day, only to be told "she was in a meeting" and "she'll have to call you back." No only did she not call me back, but she sent me another spam email saying, "An article written by PSG's President, Aaron Green, has been featured on this week's Boston.com photo gallery.Click here to learn 5 common myths about younger workers and the full stories behind them." Really PSG, are you kidding me? Instead of writing floofy little articles for Boston.com, maybe your president Mr. Green should be concentrating on how his employees are handling his business. Maybe he should look into why his company has such poor reviews. Maybe, just maybe, he should take the time to see what kind of follow-up procedures are utilized at PSG. Until then, PSG will continue it's perpetual slide down the staffing-firm toilette. read more

Pretty craptastic. It was kinda like going on a date with someone who wouldn't just tell you that it wasn't going to work out. They keep pretending that they want to see you again when you call, but something always conveniently comes up. I luckily didn't have to waste my lunch break taking assessment tests, but I had a lengthy interview with someone that was supposed to work primarily with permanent positions. She talked big, said I had a great resume, complimented my shirt, said she had some things in the pipeline and that she would get back to me about them. I called her once a week for 3 weeks, and each time she would say they didn't have anything, but they were optimistic about me as a candidate. So optimistic, it seems, that I haven't heard from them since. I found myself a new job with a hefty pay increase, better hours etc. It seems PSG is a giant waste of time. So to PSG, a bit of advice: Just be honest. If you don't think you are going to find someone a job, just tell them. Don't go through the theatrics. I promise that after their bruised ego heals, you'll be doing them a favor. read more

This place is like entering the twilight zone. Things are never as they seem. I recently submitted an application through Craigslist to what I thought was a perfect opportunity considering my qualifications. There was no indication that it was a PSG posting. 10 minutes later (literally) I got a phone call from a recruiter at PSG. At first I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, wow, they must have been impressed with my resume or something. After talking about my career goals and whatnot, the recruiter asked if I'd be available to start immediately. Wait, what? So of course I said, absolutely not, I have a full-time job that requires a 2 weeks notice at minimum. I wonder what kind of jobs ask for IMMEDIATE HIRE. Hmm, something screams temp jobs. The postings on Craigslist aren't even real. They lure you in with promising opportunities, and all they can offer professionals are low-paying temp jobs filing papers. I wanted to give this place a shot, so I said sure, let's set up an interview. BUT, the recruiter would have to call me back tomorrow to set up a time because hmm...looks like all the spots just got filled up during our 5 minute chat on the phone! The recruiter never called me. I had to email him to ask him to call me. When he did, he gave me the runaround again, saying that we couldn't schedule anything today and that he'd call tomorrow at 8am. He called me at 9:45. At that point I told him I wasn't interested anymore. They are not professional at all. Also, why can't you book interviews a week or two in advance? If these were real, professional jobs, then you'd think they'd take the time to make sure you got in their office. Nope. It's a factory. Avoid this place at all costs unless you are a desperate college grad who will file papers for $10/hour to pay rent. read more

PSG will use you. If you go in with that knowledge and expectation, you will do fine. They are not your friend. They do not want to help. They are not going to do you any favors. They want to place you as fast as possible and get paid. If you are no help to them, they will discard you. I give them 1 extra star because they do have a lot of volume, thus more opportunity for jobs. I had a similar experience a few years before and should have learned my lesson. They should made to disclose that PSG is listed the add so i can avoid them...but sadly they don't. OK. I get staffing agencies. I know it's a 10% or less chance they'll actually help you - but feel it can't hurt to use all resources. I know that the "Rockstar Admin Needed - Wear a lot of hats - up to 200K!" and "dynamica Office Manager - Great visibility- Cambridge!" is generally going to be a PSG posting of a fake job. I understand that they use this 'bait' to draw in candidates as their 'product' to sell to companies who are looking to hire. So I get that they constantly want a full bench of candidates ready to throw at these employee seeking organizations. Still. As much as people are your product - we are still people! PSG doesn't keep that in mind. They will call, tell you they have the perfect job(s) for you and ask you to come interview - implying it's for a specific job (that rarely actually exists). You get your hopes up, put on your finest interview apparel, and head downtown for your 'interview'. When you arrive, you are asked to take a test that insults your intelligence. I understand that if you are being hired to temp for organizations this might be a good idea since they'll throw you into an assignment within a days notice that may only last a day or two - and having validation/guarantee their candidates can navigate a computer might be a good idea. But for someone looking for only perm positions, with 4 years office experience, is that really necessary? Why not have these minions take the tests only after their 'interview' has determined they are going to take temp assignments? So after the testing, you're pulled into a creepy interrogation room with a bored recent grad. They ask you mindless questions and don't listen to the answer, and send you on your way. I went in with the most god awful looking 3 page resume that needed serious critique, and they didn't even offer that (which other staffing agencies at least provide - as it's in their best interest as well as yours). I mean, come on, can't you at least offer me something for my time?! Plus, your 'product' will be more valuable with a better looking resume. Then, after my useless 'interview', they proceeded to call me around dinner time, once a week to try and get names of companies I'm interviewing at. Really, PSG? I see your tricks. You want to know who's hiring so you can go woo them into using your services to find them candidates. Waste of time. Don't bother. I've used much better agencies that at the very least give interview tips, resume tips, and other advice as to not waste your time. Not to mention that god awful ringing bell in there. read more

This is for people that actually get Employed with PSG. I went into PSG after speaking with a gentleman on the phone whom told me based on my experience they had roles that would be paying me about 18-20 dollars an hour. Which is reasonable and realistic based on the positions they were spewing to me. I get in there, they tell me how great it was to see me and what not. About 3 days later I get a call from one of their Senior Staffing Managers for a small 3 week role with medical terminology as well as fast typing skills (data entry). She told me it was great experience ect ect. For 10 dollars an hour. 10. For medical terminology experience? So i thought perhaps it was vague medical, you know, something pretty much everyone should know. NOT. I got in there, they wanted me to know different types of shots, the time in which each one is needed and quite frankly, if I wasn't headed towards medical school goals, no one would know what the hell it was. Not only that but the environment was VERY unprofessional and they had me in a room outside of a bunch of sick students. Not only did I get sick, deal with ergonomically back ruining chairs and rude attitudes. But when I reached out to my so- called- representative. She gave me an attitude stating I knew how much I would be paid and that it's a short term role and it's "good experience". Actually, reason why I got so little pay is because she had used me as a person to do the job as they had no one else for the role and two employees were splitting commission off me hence the sub pay. When normal employees there were getting 20 dollars an hour. I have worked and had at least 7 months with OTHER temp agencies and this by far was the worst most disgusting time wasting experience I have ever had. Stay clear of PSG, you are better off at Macy's for the crappy so called experience jobs they throw at you. read more

I went here many years ago. I was looking for a part-time temp job. I was a student at the time and wanted to work 20-25 hours a week doing office stuff or web design. I told them this when I spoke with them on the phone. They had me come down to their office downtown. Where I was given a clipboard and a pen to fill out some forms. They had so many other people doing the same thing that there were no seats available (I suppose someone works on commission?). I waited for a very long time, an hour maybe to take a Microsoft Word test on a computer with dirty sticky keys and was then led into a woman's office. I felt like I was in the ER in triage. After all this waiting around, she rudely told me they don't like to hire college students (WTF?), that there were people who needed jobs more than I did and that by asking for part-time work I was taking away jobs from "adults" who had been laid off. I was taken aback. I had lots of office experience and passed their crappy Word test with flying colors. She told me they had nothing for me and that they would keep my info on file. I told her not to. Thanks for wasting my time! The nice people at Randstad had no problem hiring me and accommodating my "studentness". I got a nice job at Northeastern which eventually landed me gainful full-time employment. Suck it PSG. read more

Not too impressed with this place. Maybe I'm bitter because I didn't get a job out of the place. I signed up though, seemed worth it at the time. No real regrets; just time wasted. I also don't understand their bell thing, its when they're secretly screwing people that sign up over.. right? Hah, anyways.. I went in for the initial interview; did my computer and typing test; it was cool because I found out how many words I can type a minute (YAY, I was wicked happy with my results). Anyways.. So I sat in a room and talked with my representative; we talked about my experience, goals and education. All good stuff. A month or so later I was set up with an interview and I went, thought it went well. I emailed the girl after the interview and never heard from PSG again or the girl I interviewed with. I can't believe how appalling of an experience some people have had here! I actually almost didn't go to my "interview" with PSG because of the terrible reviews but I'm so happy I went. I had a great experience with PSG. After I submitted to their BS Craigslist marketing tactics ("great admin job in Cambridge...apply!") and sent in my resume via email, I got called to come in for an "interview." I get there and frankly, it's a little scary. Reminded me a little bit of what I imagine Hell to be like...imagine a bunch of 20-somethings grinning, looking pretty, hanging around in modern Ikea furniture and asking you to take a test. The computer tests are BS, too--boring and pretty lame. So by this point I was like yikezzz get me outta here! BUT! Then I went in for my little conference with Elizabeth and Julianna. They were GREAT. I really liked them and within ONE WEEK, Elizabeth called me with a temp to perm position at MIT. I worked at MIT (via PSG) for about six weeks and was eventually offered the fulltime position at MIT which I accepted and LOVE. Not sure if you can "request" PSG representatives, but I would HIGHLY recommend Elizabeth and Julianna. They were super attentive and found me a job in a week. Go PSG! Except one thing, PSG - plz stop your annoying underground marketing and stick to the taxi ads. ;) read more

I have used PSG twice, and they have been nothing but professional. The first time I used them I had a very very specific situation that made it difficult to place (I was still employed somewhere else temporary and was only looking for direct hire as a supervisor). However the second time I was unemployed as the job contract ended and I was getting nowhere with my own job hunt, even for entry level. Jess Mulligan, who was my agent, is pretty much a godsend. We had more of a conversation then an interview where we went over what I wanted based on my experience, and how open I was to opportunities. She could have easily placed me in temporary opportunities at the hire rate of pay, but a direct hire entry level opportunity was available for a little bit less then what I was asking for. Since it was direct hire I said I would interview with them. She was went through everything. She went and gave me company details, had me send her questions to ask during the interview. She had me give a writing sample to see where I was in regards to my email writing skills. She gave me some interview questions to study. We talked on the phone hours before my interview to go over interview questions to see strengths and weaknesses in my answers and gave great advice on my wording of specific things. She printed out copies of my resume, directions to the job, and a copy of the interview questions I wrote to bring to the interview. We talked briefly before I went and she asked me to call her when I finished. I had my interview with the company and I called her back later in the day (I would have called her immediately but my cell phone was almost dead). Maybe the delay was good anyway because I got the job. Seriously yo. This was probably the best "Seeking Employment" experience I ever had. They had me well prepared and well trained to get a job that seems to be awesome for my skills. Jess understood where I am in my life and what my goals are and found something that fit perfectly. I can't agree with anything the haters are saying about the company. They relieved a lot of pressure from my job hunt and for me the results were immediate. Also note, I put in a request to have the address changed as they are no longer at Devonshire. They are on Federal now so the photos really don't match any longer. read more

Unless you are looking for temp work that pays less than $12 an hour, don't even both with PSG. Even then, you probably shouldn't bother. PSG just isn't a staffing agency that is friendly or helpful. The organization is flaky, and you're better off spending that initial 2 hour interview scouring the wanted ads or tweaking your cover letter. read more

PSG is the snake oil salesman of staffing agencies in Boston. They lure you in with fake ads on Craigslist, flashy ads all around Boston, and a slick, open office space that always seems to be bustling. Then you go in and are rushed through an interview process like you're going through a conveyor belt. Then you are "promised" individual attention. They deliver nothing. You call them and they point you to their web site or to e-mail them. They don't talk about the jobs they never seem to have. Basically feels like a bait & switch. Seems like they are more interested in numbers by their highly visible sales force to lure in applicants with no follow-through after the fact. I don't know how they stay in business in this commission-based temp industry. They should spend less money on advertising and more money on finding jobs from employers. read more

I just got off the phone with one of their agents after having applied for a specific position. The phone "interview" was so uncomfortable because she kept asking about my various experiences and what I was getting paid through a different temp agency. I refused to answer. I doubt they actually apply for specific jobs - they just gather a pool of people and throw them out at whatever bites. I hate that. I like to feel like I'm being taken care of so I can be proud to represent a company. This company failed to deliver and I will not be doing business with them. read more

They put the disclaimer below their Craigslist posts to avoid just the response they got from me. This was after Eveygene lied. She called me telling me to come interview for the Data Entry position I forwarded a resume for via Craigslist. Actual phone call: Me: "Is this an interview for the actual position, or do you just want to meet me?" Eveygene: "We want to interview you for the position." Totally unprofessional. A line of poor, fresh college grads at a long table recruiting. Symone, a recruiting manager, begged me on our interview if I could recommend PSG to my friends and to other companies. Why do that when you haven't helped me yet, and after I even ASK about that Data Entry position? Oh, yeah, about that. She walked out then back in the room to tell me the position was gone, then went on to explain the "this is not baiting" warning on their Craigslist ads. Symone was more interested researching the previous temp agencies (her competition) I used, and recommending her "services" than helping me. There are some reputable staffing firms in Greater Boston, but for low-skilled recent grads, just do it yourself. You'll be way happier not giving a cut of your pay to PSG read more
