My five year old daughter injured her foot and had to be in a cast for several weeks. Once out of the cast she had some continued pain and weakness. We were so lucky to find Bridget at Professional PT. Pediatric PT was difficult to find and at Professional PT they work with kids as young as four. Bridget spent time with me to discuss my daughter's case and her interests (Bluey, Paw Patrol) and incorporated that into her PT sessions to make them fun and engaging for my daughter. I recently started PT for a glute injury at Professional Physical Therapy and I was very much impressed with the care, service and knowledge of every person who tended to me. The evaluation was very thorough and every session has been very therapeutic and helpful. I have been making great progress at the facility and with my at-home exercises. The atmosphere and energy in the facility amongst the therapists and staff is wonderful. The passion for their work and the care they give you is unbeatable. Pros- nice clean place. easy to get to. CONS: not good PT, they are the Assembly line type of PT- they DONT use Tens or ultra sound, of even rub the injury area. I was told some exercises & left to fend for myself, with the Pt checking on me every 10 min. I changed PT places. the new place, they evaluate & treat the same session. also lots of one on one time, they ultasound and heat the area 1st, then help me all the way. .I got lots of info about my injury as well , Never again to Pro Ex the Pro Ex place is a place for new pts to start & dont care much. also the reception Woman is not very nice read more

Very, very helpful - I am SO happy I went. I got immediate relief the very first session. Hannah was amazing and very knowledgeable about prenatal PT. She gave me lots of great exercises and tips for reducing pain. I had a great experience getting PT at Pro-EX, especially with Tom! I had bad back pain after caring for my dad, and had various other PT, treatments, and steroid injections, which all did not work deep enough to help. Tom had me work on smaller muscles near my spine to strengthen, as well as some spinal traction and learning to do traction for myself which is awesome! I now don't have pain standing for just half an hour, but go much longer and can take walks again and have normal activities! The office runs smoothly and when you start working with one PTherapist, you keep working with them or the assistant (with the equipment). I have a friend in Boston who also works with Tom at the Boston location and also thinks he is the greatest! read more

I was one a patient at the older facilty of Pro Ex in Woburn and recieved excellent treatment from Matt for two unrleated sports injuries. One was my right shoulder the other my left knee. I came out of therapy in tip top shape. My recent visits to Pro Ex were to rehab two sprained ankles (yes, it is possible to sprain two ankles at once). My Lead Therapist was Tommy and he is also fantstic! Would highly recommend. Both he and Matt are personable, intellegent, and really know their stuff. They take time to listen then treat each patient with the individualized attention you would hope to get from a PT. Even better...I should also share that I go to work everyday in a building with one of Pro Ex's competitors (Excel). I was going to give Excel a chance simply because of the convenience from where I work, but my experience with Excel was brutal. Felt like a meat market and I could tell right from the first phone call that I wouldn't get the personal attention and care I deserved, so I cancelled the appointment and went right back to Pro Ex. Pro Ex is arguably the best Physical Rehabilitation organiztaion in the area. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

After a 3 weeks of post-rotator cuff surgery, I told the physical therapist that I was well behind what my surgeon to expect in my recovery. She refused to listen and the exercises were far too easy. Each week, I repeated my concern, and each week she told me I was wrong. When I saw my surgeon after 5 weeks of physical therapy, he was alarmed at how little progress I had made and told me I was now at risk for having a permanently stiff and achy shoulder. When I explained this to the physical therapist, she became defensive, but offered no apology and no reason to continue with ProEx. I switched to Kathleen Barry in Reading. It was a much longer drive and there was no fancy equipment. Yet, I made remarkable progress quickly. In fact, she told me that I should have had regained full range of motion after only a week. Unlike ProEx, she was very hands on and had me doing exercises that really challenged me. I expect I will make a full recovery. read more

ProEx has exceeded my expectations of PT. Several years ago after arthroscopic knee surgery, I underwent PT at a local area hospital. I felt I received excellent care and good physical therapy there. After similar, recent surgery on the other knee, I called the initial therapist, only to learn she had moved on. I began to search what was available and convenient to me, and selected ProEx in Woburn. The recovery for this surgery has taken longer, and at times, I have been discouraged. I have been very impressed with this group, in particular, Jim Shea, and feel in comparison to my original pt three years ago, the pt I've received at ProEx has been far better, much more thorough, and very much tailored to my individual needs throughout . Each visit has involved a significant amount of varied exercises, but each visit has also included table time - sometimes more comfortable than others, but ultimately, effective. And, the clinical manager has often explained to me the whys and wherefores of how muscles and the body heal. That helped me better understand the process and gave me some much-needed patience. Moreover, I've been impressed with the entire team here - from the scheduling to the individual therapists even to the interns. It really is a Team, and it speaks well of its management. I had a minor, but stubborn wrist injury that required some PT, and I could pretty much go anywhere for the treatment. I work in downtown Boston, so I wanted something close and convenient - and again, there were many choices. I chose ProEx because they had good reviews, and a coworker of mine used them to rehab from a back injury. Once I actually began the treatment, I learned WHY they had such a great reputation. Their office is clean, and inviting, and their staff is both friendly and knowledgeable. Matt McManus did a screening and overall evaluation for me, asking lots of good questions to give him an understanding of the injury and how it was affecting me. Then he gave me a plan of action, so I would know what to expect, and we began treatment. Within 2 weeks the injury was completely healed, and it is now a distant memory, that I easily forget all about. My first experience left me with such a good impression, that when I suffered a foot injury playing soccer, I didn't think twice about where to go. There was one catch this time - My office was moving to Woburn, so I couldn't do my whole treatment at one facility. Luckily, Proex has one of their offices there. I still wasn't sure what to expect, though. I knew I was comfortable with Matt, and the others in the Boston office, but had no idea how switching locations was going to work. During my first appointment with David Melchiorri, I learned that he had spoken with the Boston team, discussed my treatment program, and had already been updated and prepared to move forward with the same program we started. That was huge, in my book, because I didn't have to start from scratch even though I was at a new office. David was awesome. He was patient, informative, and easy to work with. After meeting him, and the rest of the Woburn staff, it was clear that these people hire like-minded employees, and obviously have a company-wide commitment to the consumer experience. Believe me when I say I have my fingers crossed that I won't NEED anymore PT, but if I do, I know where I'll be going. read more

I went to physical therapy at the Woburn location for a knee injury. The first session was good and my physical therapist seemed knowledgeable but after that everything went down hill. My physical therapist disappeared for 3 weeks and apparently never wrote in the charts what I was suppose to do. I had an INTERN overseeing my care from there on out. I had to ask them to give me exercises to do at home. Not only that but I really don't see how "standing on one leg for 10 seconds repeatedly" is considered something that is going to do anything to help my knee. Needless to say after 5 weeks I stopped going and my knee still hurts. read more

My daughter has gone here for Pattela tendinitis. They have done wonders for her. They found that it wasn't just her knee that was the problem. They found that her hip and her back was what was causing the knee issues also. Her knee is so much better now. They are now working on her broken thumb she got. Highly recomend Pro ex. read more

I don't understand how you think that you are helping people when you are consumed with sports highlights. I would have been better off going to Excel. read more

This place is great! This is my first ever yelp review but I feel obligated to write it after the excellent care and treatment I received at Pro Ex. I had ACL surgery on my knee a year and a half ago. I worked with Brian, Cassie and Dave, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. They always greeted me enthusiastically and seemed invested in my recovery throughout the (very long) rehab process. I can say that I am back to playing basketball and soccer and am very satisfied with my recovery. Brian and Dave were the PTs, and they always found new ways to keep my recovery (somewhat) fun and continually progressing. All of that said, anyone going into an outpatient PT experience needs to always keep in mind the phrase 'you get out what you put in.' I have read many reviews of many different physical therapy places, and many of the bad reviews seem to come with an expectation that you just go there, they work miracles on you, and within a few visits, you are healed. This is NOT the case! You need to work as hard, or harder and for longer than the few hours per week you are at the facility. This is especially true of a major, traumatic injury that requires surgery. However, the people at Pro Ex are amazingly patient and serious about helping you, even if you are a difficult person. But, if you're willing to accept the realities of rehab and put in the homework, you should have good results at most physical therapy places in the area. If not, you may be unhappy, but you have no one to blame but yourself. Major injuries suck and rehab is VERY time consuming. But getting back on your feet is worth it! Sometimes you gotta man up and just do what you gotta do!!! read more
