    My final test :)
    Nathan S.

Just finished my two week program and literally after my final test I was asked if I could work the next day. Best part of program is the job placement assistance. If you're interested in gaining confidence and skipping the hassle of learning drinks on your own I'd go here. Staff was friendly and offered a ton of great features for me as a student and now graduate. I've already suggested the school to inquiring friends. I'd take a tour of the school and see if the environment is for you.

Magnolia Halle was beautiful inside and out. With in-house catering, setup and linens included in the price, it was perfect for our big day! Also, it is located in an area with lots of hotels nearby, which was extremely helpful for our out of town family and friends. We had about 150 guests at our wedding, and everyone fit comfortably in the Halle. Our guests said that they thoroughly enjoyed the food, especially the short ribs. Additionally, Kryssi, the venue coordinator was PHENOMENAL. We booked Magnolia Halle for our wedding venue over a year in advance, and Kryssi was very responsive to our messages and questions throughout the entirety of that time. We were able to visit multiple times before our wedding to envision how our decor would look, and we really appreciate all of the help and attentiveness that Kryssi provided. She is very kind and wonderful, which made our experience of planning our wedding at Magnolia Halle seamless and fun! About a week before our wedding in March 2025, they installed a new projector and A/V system that we were able to utilize and it was a game changer. If you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue without the drive out to the hill country, Magnolia Halle is THE place! It was truly the best day of our lives.

I'm a big fan of the night life - dive bars, lounges, speakeasies, and dance clubs. There are mixed viewpoints from industry vets on the value of courses, and you aren't guaranteed a job. But I wanted a solid foundation to start with. Location near central Austin and night classes were convenient for me. And I thought the price was fair for what you get The school is stealthily located in a business park. But as soon as you walk in, it's like entering a fully stocked bar, complete with music, lighting, and hundreds of bottles of alcohol - filled with approximately colored water :) Classes are fast paced and intense. But also fun. Jim is a great instructor that's been in the bar business for decades and is a wealth of knowledge and motivation. If you're looking for a great foundation to begin your bartending journey, I recommend this course

I paid the full amount upfront, and Jim (or James) told me that the price included being able to…read moreretake the course as many times as needed. That turned out to be false. I wasn't able to finish the full 8-day course because I got really sick (a virus and the flu back to back) and was out for over a month. Once I felt better, I tried to come back and retake the course so I could feel confident enough to start bartending. Every time I walked in, he told me I couldn't be there because I had already taken the class -- even though I only attended about 5 out of 8 days. A few times he let me stay, but he constantly made me feel uncomfortable and would call me out in front of everyone for "already taken the course." It was embarrassing, unnecessary, and completely unprofessional. If the policy is that retakes aren't actually allowed, that should be clearly stated upfront. Driving there just to be told to leave repeatedly is frustrating and disappointing. The way he handled the situation showed a real lack of professionalism and respect for students.

Pre-event communication and coordination was easy and efficient. She arrived an hour before the event and worked hard to assemble, prep, and decorate to have everything looking perfect before the first guest arrived. We showed her where the location of refrigerators, extra alcohol, cups and all were kept and she handled the rest. Other than getting a drink and seeing her behind the bar we wouldn't have known she was there. One less thing for us to worry about. Love it. Seems Nicole had her own fan club going aside from the normal 'your the bartender therefore my best friend' situation. Oh, wait, am I the only one that thinks like that?! Her personality and energy couldn't have been better or more engaging. I'm sorry but I'm remiss in that I have no decent pictures of her set-up but know it's great. (yes I suck) If my guests send any good ones I'll edit the review and add them. Her set-up is attractive and inviting but not overly flashy and ostentatious, which is exactly what we wanted. We aligned on a menu of drinks and she made a really nice menu board and every single drink was made to order right in front of you. No pouring out of a pitcher, no shaking/stirring 4 drinks at a time. That drink is just. For. You. We will use her again and recommend her to anyone that asks.

When you first enter, they will ask to take your temperature, ask you to sign a waiver, and remove your shoes before going past the blue curtains where the poles are. Alcohol & towels are provided to you for sanitizing your poles or to make the sweat go away. Our instructor was by the stage name Zifatigg Bonbon. She was funny, professional, and very sweet! She encouraged us to go at our own place, would re-review any moves if we didn't understand it, and taught us how to move our gluteus Maximus muscles - which blew my mind by the way!! We also had the chance to perform for each other with Zifatigg guiding the way and throw some dolla billz ;) I came out bruised and sore all over, but it was definitely fun that it has me considering taking classes back home! I have a newfound respect for pole dancers and honestly, I see it like art now. I definitely recommend Brass Ovaries (ask for Zifatigg!), especially for bachelorette parties!

Not to be disgusting, but they had GI problems for 1-2 days. One guest said that when they bit into the meatball, she noticed it wasn't cooked all the way. We didn't know what exactly caused everyone to get sick. But we know for sure it wasn't the desserts because the people who got sick didn't eat dessert. Additional Issues- Since choosing Anne Maries for catering, we had a couple of issues. First one being with our numbers in regard to food. I had been in communications and told Shawn that we had less people after the RSVP count came in 300 originally, then RSPV'd... 250. Shawn later told us that is why they "double check" numbers before charging. And no, they didn't! He already sent us a bill for the wrong number of guests for the wedding. Thirdly, we had an invoice sent to us saying that after we paid that our card was rejected. Supposedly after speaking with Shawn on the phone, he informed me that the office manager didn't communicate with him about how we already paid. So, the office manager sent another invoice, and it stated that the payment was rejected. This happened after the previous issue was addressed. Overall, we were very disappointed by the issues that we encountered with Anne Marie's and don't feel like the company demonstrated professional qualities that we thought we were paying for. There was poor communication between Shawn and the Office Manager. We understand mistakes happen, but there were several mishaps with the addition of some of our guests getting sick on the food.

Although I don't know the cost, I would definitely recommend this place for a birthday party, shower, family event, etc.
