I phoned them a week in advance to arrange transportation for my elderly father to get to the doctor. Inconvenience Number One: I was told I needed to call back the day before the appointment to find out when he'd be picked up. Why can't I know right then, and if not, why can't they call me? Instead, I'm expected to not only call but get put on hold for 10 minutes. When I called the day before the appointment, I was told the van would come 20 minutes before the appointment. When I expressed great concern that that was not enough time, they assured me it was. At 10 minutes before the appointment, the van still hadn't shown up. I phoned. They said van should be there any minute. It arrived at 1:00. By then, it was too late. We had to reschedule the doctor's appointment. Here's how much they don't care: I phoned to speak to a supervisor, was put on hold, transferred to voicemail, and never got a call back. Thanks, Ride Program, for being so disrespectful and rude to people who are dependent on you for their health and well-being. Well done, jerks.

My low rating is for their deceptive billing practices, although I'm sure most other private ambulance companies operate the same way. For a non- emergency transport from a hospital to a nursing home, the cost starts at $1,000 plus mileage! I added up the millage myself, and I think they overcharged. Unfortunately, when coming from a hospital, you really don't have much control over what company they use, it's based on their rotation. Even with good insurance, I feel ripped off. I guess that's the sad state of healthcare today.
