I just wanted to give some love to the physical therapy clinic here. I have seen them previously…read moreand am back again due to chronic issues, and both times, they have been so amazing and friendly and validating (and also great around me being a fat, queer, nonbinary person). Particular shout out to the team of Mike Houze, Tom, and Sara, who have and continue to take great care of me both on land and in the pool with Tom. As someone who has had over a dozen surgeries, and had physical therapy for over two decades in four states, this has been by far my more affirming and supportive experience. Would highly recommend in a heartbeat!

We had heard good things about Medsport so she decided to start going there. It was definitely the right call. They've been great to her! I stopped in yesterday during one of her appointments and observed the exercises they were doing with her and I was really impressed. You could tell they were really working on strengthening not just her foot but the whole leg which had been underutilized since she's been off that side since August. The physical therapists were warm and encouraging. They pushed her without being overly agressive. After some stretches and exercises they also took some time to manipulate and massage her foot to really work the muscles deeply. The facility is clean and spacious. When I was there there weren't a ton of patients so it wasn't crowded or overwhelming. The machines very from stuff you'll see at your local gym to some state of the art equipment. They also offer aquatherapy which allows the patient to do work without a lot of the pressure on the injuries that normal workouts might put on them. I've been really impressed with how fast my mom's gotten back on her feet. She's already walking without crutches around the house. A lot of it is her own determination to get back to normal by diligently working on her exercises at home but I also have to credit MedSport for their fantastic work as well. I have back problems and I'm already planning on asking my doctor for a referral to go do some PT there as well.

I began doing some gentle stretches to relieve tension on my back. One of those stretches involved laying in bed and flexing my toes towards my head. Then something went pop. And then the pain crept in. How I hurt a part of my foot doing something so simple is probably just a matter of being old and my body falling apart. I mean, what can even hurt in that fleshy part between one's ankle and heel? My doctor recommended I see a physical therapist, and somehow I landed at Medsport. "Sports Medicine" might not have seem like an obvious fit for someone who injured themselves literally laying in bed. After my experience, I hold the therapists at Medsport in the highest of esteem! I mostly worked with Kelley, but Kelsey evaluated me as well when I came in. Together they took measurements, felt around my foot, held it tight in a position while I tried to move around, and came up with all kinds of exercises for me to do. The drills were largely about increasing strength and flexibility. But I even got to try out their anti-gravity tread mill a couple of times. Sure, some of the exercises felt like a unique combination of silliness and torture. The first time Kelley asked me to stand on a bosu ball with one foot, and throw a weighted ball against and angled trampoline, was certainly an experience. However, I got better at it as the weeks went on. Bottom line is that after following the regimen these fine folks set up for me, I'm now feeling amazingly better! Not only that, but the exercises have put me on the path to running. I may not stay running long, but I do hope to keep it up for at least a few more weeks. The more I run, the more I can eat. And the ability to jog across the street so I can avoid being mowed down by oncoming traffic, without experiencing any pain in my ankle, feels fantastic too. - - - Oh yeah, the fact that Medsport is in the Ice Cube, is pretty sweet too. I enjoyed being able to watch folks play hockey while warming up the elliptical machines.

Overall the atmosphere of the whole clinic/center is relaxed and laid back. There's a television in the waiting room and everything feels clean and up to date. I did not receive any physician care here but I did take advantage of the walk-in lab to get blood drawn. And when I say "drawn blood" I mean TWELVE vials (my new doc is apparently extremely thorough). The woman working at the lab was awesome. She was a little snarky but in a completely accessible warm, joking way. She was meticulous with checking and double-checking all the labs that were ordered. I warned her about my veins being crap (at most places, they stab into my arm and then "dig around" continually moving the needle under my skin and stabbing every which way until they finally get a vein - I don't mind needles or pain but it's sickening). This lady, on the other hand, felt both my veins and was careful to choose a small needle. She stuck me once, precisely, right into my vein, and got a good draw. THANK YOU, LORD. Next time I need vampirical services, I won't hesitate to return.

When I started here I was struggling to sleep since the pain was worse at night and any position I sat in sent pins and needles down my arm to fingertips. Working on my pottery (my current creative outlet) was difficult as I couldn't feel the tips of 2 of my 5 fingers. Makes things kinda tough when you're relying on gentle touch on a wheel. I was exhausted, sad, and stressed. But I'm happy to report that after my time here, I have regained all feeling in my hand, the pain is all but gone, and I only get intermittent tingling down my arm and when I do it's far less intense. Dave and his amazing team implemented a number of techniques including cupping, e-stim, exercises, dry needling, traction, heat, and stretching that all combined to get me back on track. He also provided me with exercises and techniques I could continue at home to make sure I continue to improve and also keep future nerve issues at bay. I could cry I'm so happy with how things turned out. Thank you, Dave for giving me full use of my hand back and for sharing great conversations around music all the while. Also shout out to Anna for being such a joy to communicate with as I was getting set up, maintaining my schedule, etc. In fact, everyone here was so personable and my appointments just flew by each time I went in. I hope I never need to visit again but I feel confident that they would get me back in business ASAP if so!
