I ordered an audio interface which seemed t be a good deal. When I received the confirmation email, I noticed they had the wrong delivery address (the address they put on my order was for a Sam Ash store 30 miles away from my address.)I called and waited on the customer service line for half an hour then decided to use my other phone and pick the sales option. Sure enough someone answered right away. I explained the situation and was told to call customer service even after I explained I was still holding for them on my other phone. This sales guy was perhaps the biggest A-HOLE l've ever dealt with in this type of situation. After he hung up on me I called back until he got me a customer service rep. The reps name was Chris. Chris explained that once the order was created that the item would be sent to what ever address was on the order even if it was wrong. I explained only a label was created. I then asked Chris to cancel my order andChris told me he would "take care of this personally" and going forward I should ask for him. Hours later when I checked the tracking, it had been sent anyway. Chris did a fantastic job not taking care of my issue. I will never buy anything from these A-Holes again. My experience with ProAudioStar has been so terrible that I'm actually writing a review. I think this is the first review I've ever written on any platform. I ordered a $4k keyboard and a $300 stand back in June. I received the keyboard without too much hassle. But the stand was delivered while I was out and bounced without my knowledge. Since then I've been in touch with support every few weeks for the past 3-4 months trying to get this stand re-delivered. Finally 3 weeks ago I asked to cancel the order and was assured that the supplier was going to deliver in a week. Since then I've heard nothing - not received the tracking number I was promised - and have had to dig this thread up again and try for the dozenth time to chase down an item I purchased 4 months ago. This is the first review I've ever felt compelled to write online... I bought some Focal monitors from them. A week after receiving them I was experiencing some random buzzing in the monitors, as well as one of them failing to enter standby mode. I reached out well within their "30 Day Return Policy" period via email. Nobody replied or got back to me; and when I got someone on the phone a couple of weeks later, I was just put on hold and transferred all over, and each time I spoke to someone they assured me they would get back to me regarding the issue, and I never heard back from anyone. I called 4 times and sent some more emails. I talked to someone this morning and insisted we resolve the issue now and that I speak to a manager. I was told that a manager would not talk to me and that I needed to reach out to the manufacturer regarding the issue, because it was now outside of their "30 Day Return Policy". If you dodge someone for 30 days, I guess that counts as fair game. After spending almost $3k on these monitors and an interface over the course of a couple of months, I learned my lesson to not deviate from the A++ customer service at Sweetwater. read more

Spoiler: another great review. I've bought bass gear only three times, but there were minor supply adjustments that needed to be made. Throughout, these guys were helpful and friendly. Once, their website misreported availability of an open box item. I had already ordered it so they gave me a new one for the same price. They've stayed in touch each time and I've known when my gear was going to arrive. After my first experience, I've made sure to check with them if I'm in the market for anything. I was offered a new Nord Electro 6D 73 for the same price. I accepted. 48 hours later the keyboard as described was in my home. It was new and works fine. Run away. The seller lists items on ebay and Reverb.com that are not in stock. The worst part is they attempt to bait and switch you into buy a higher priced item at a "discount". Here is how it went down. Item ordered and paid for early on Tuesday. I did not receive a tracking number so I emailed them on Wednesday and was told I would have my tracking number in 24 hours. Friday afternoon came and I still had no tracking number. I reached out to them via their online chat: Can you give me any info on ebay item number 401110209509. I really hate to give a 1 star review but I feel like I have to. This seller does some stuff that feels like scamming and it's not cool. Scam #1: First of all, they list items online as an open box special. Note the language, not "used" but "open box". As soon as I placed my order I got an email from them saying they had "new" units on sale this week for just $24 more and if I took the new one, I'd get the full manufacturer's warranty (I have a screenshot of the message). The truth is that an "open box" indicates a new until that was simply opened, perhaps as a floor model or a demo, and as such it still has the full manufacturer's support and warranty. If it is not a used or second hand unit, then it is new it must carry the full warranty. If it doesn't have the warranty, they're lying and it's not an "open box" it's just used. It's a scam, they try to rope you in with the lowest price, then try to get you to pay more by threatening you with the loss of the warranty. And this is the 2nd time I've purchased from this shop and both times they tried the exact same thing. And both times the product that came was NOT in an open box. The product was still factory sealed further proving that this is just a scam. Scam #2: Their store policies page under returns says "Refunds Buyer receives a full refund in their original payment method less any shipping charges." So one would assume, that if they're unhappy with the purchase they would take it back and issue a refund. But no, don't stop reading yet. Just below their stated refund policy they list, under the separate heading of "Special Conditions" they contradict their policy on returns and refunds saying that even if returned in the exact same condition there will be a 10-15% restocking fee. Ostensibly because the box was opened. However, just because the box was opened, doesn't mean that the unit is not new anymore. Most reputable (non-scamming) dealers allow you to buy the item, check it out and return it if it's not for you. And manufacturers honor their warranty even if the item was sold and returned within a reasonable return period. I know, having worked for one of the largest MI industry manufacturers and also the largest MI retailer in the country, that this is the standard and I'm sure Roland adheres to this standard. This seller scams you by saying they give a full refund unless it's a "Special Condition", then they call every return a special situation which requires a restocking fee. If everything is a "Special Condition", then their stated return policy is a lie. Don't buy from this seller unless you are sure you already know all you'd need to know about the gear. If it's not what you expect, they'll take your money. It ruins the typical online shopping experience of trying the item and knowing that if it's not for you you can return it. Buy from one of the many online retailers who do business fairly. The total irony of my purchase was that they tried to charge me a restocking fee because according to the customer representative I spoke to on the phone, "the box was opened... " which we knew because I bought what was advertised as an open box item... you can't make this stuff up. I have had several emails and a couple of phone calls with this seller, trying to resolve this issue and they've largely stood their disingenuous ground. They did offer to reduce the restocking fee after a while but still won't do the accepted online business norm of returning the item with a full refund, which is their stated policy, in all but "Special Conditions". Finally, I've declined their offer of a lower restocking fee and I'll sell the unit on my own. I don't think it's fair to be charged a restocking fee, then allow this seller to resell the unit as new and scam another buyer. read more

I purchased a guitar from Proaudiostar - a real deal by the look of it: A $600 guitar going for $299. The guitar itself was a brand name and had been very well-reviewed So, I bought it. At first, I was told almost as soon as I made the purchase that the guitar was out of stock. I complained. I was told they were about to be restocked, and then I was told my guitar was enroute. Good so far. Well, the guitar arrived and IT WASN'T NEW. The plastic was off the pickguard and pickups, and the pickguard itself showed substantial scratching where it had been played, and not just a few times. It was obvious the packing job was not from the factory. Otherwise, the guitar is pretty nice. I just didn't get what I feel like I paid for: a brand new instrument. read more

I bought a Korg Kronos X from their Ebay store for hundreds below list price. I was able to contact someone at the store to negotiate a better deal. They were friendly and courteous. The package shipped and arrived within a week. Brand New, in the box, Flawless condition. The second was a Sennheiser EW D1 Microphone that I bought a few years ago. This time I was able to contact them directly and enquired about the product. They gave me a GREAT deal and sent a Paypal invoice which I promptly paid and received the item within a week, sealed and in Flawless condition. I have never had a problem getting a person on the phone and they have always been courteous and professional with me. Though I would have preferred a replacement or a refund I thank you guys for frustrating me enough to push me to learn how to fit a dowel and glue it into the guitar and redrill it so it's stable and working again. I have also learned to never shop here again because if you have an issue like mine, don't expect a 10% off voucher, some credit, assistance, or a replacement of any kind. Would have been happy to meet you guys halfway on any expenses on this endeavor, but nah, just a "Nope, bring it to a shop, good luck, your problem now." I made a $2100 order online and on december 27th it will be a month since I ordered and still havent received it. When I ordered the item showed as "in stock" and after two weeks of waiting I called the store to try and track my order. They were brief and nonchalant and I couldn't get an answer other than them asking me to track it online. When I did the item showed as processing. I called again 2 days later and was told they were waiting for stock from the manufacturer. I received the worst customer service from these folks and having to wait for almost a month for something that I could have bought at the local guitar center or sweetwater makes me feel ridiculous. A week after we sent back the product, we did not get the refund, so did an inquiry. I was told they were testing the product and can not see the problem. a buddy of mine ordered a synth from them and recommended them to me so the next time i needed a pedal i ordered from them. i placed the order on a friday. the next day i got an email saying "sorry, were oversold, but give us two extra business days". i wrote back saying it wasn't a problem, as long as i had it by friday night for a gig. they never responded to this email. thursday night i check my order and it still hadn't shipped, so i wrote them saying i was disappointed there wasn't more contact and asked again for a status update. they're reply was basically a tracking number and a suggestion that i refuse delivery if it doesn't get there in time. pretty much a big F.U. i counted on them to meet my deadline or at least tell me that they wouldn't be able to so i could make other arrangements. there are a lot of places to get music gear from that provide better, more attentive service--ill give my money to them instead. read more

Do not buy from this company! However good the deal may seem, it is not worth it. These scam artists will do nothing but waste your time. I purchased a pair of b-stock active studio monitors that were supposed to be in perfect condition. They arrived to me badly damaged. While it is possible that they may have been damaged in transit, there were a couple of things that made me suspicious. It was obvious that neither box contained all of the original packing material, and one of them hardly had any protecting foam around the speaker at all. Neither box included a power cable, and one also did not include the manual/warranty/etc. I sent an email and left a voice message with proaudiostar, neither of which were returned. I was eventually able to get someone on the phone who sent me shipping labels and promised me a full refund. I packed the speakers up again as best as I could, slapped the shipping labels on them, and dropped them off with FedEx. I watched the tracking number for the FedEx shipment and saw that they made it back to proaudiostar successfully. However, this is where the real trouble started. It took three and a half weeks from the time they arrived back to proaudiostar for the company to finally issue me a refund. During this time I sent numerous emails, which were never returned. I left numerous voicemails without ever receiving a returned call. The times that I was actually able to get someone on the phone, I was lied to again and again. I was given a new excuse about why the refund hadn't been issued every time I spoke with someone. On at least 4 occasions over that 3.5 week period I was promised that the refund had been issued, and that it would simply take 1-2 business days for it to appear in my account. Again and again this turned out not to be true. It was only after threatening to take them to court that I finally received my refund. read more

I ordered a "NEW" Guild D-120 on Amazon. They were quite a bit lower price than everybody else selling the guitar, which is the reason I bought it. When I received it, it was a "NEW" B-Stock unit, & no mention of B Stock anywhere in their listing, only said "NEW". EVERY other seller said their guitars were New, B Stock or Refurbished! I went back & forth with them, sent them pictures & was ignored for several days, then the rep had the nerve to tell me "not to get upset, no need to escalate this matter"! They didn't offer to replace it with a new 1st line unit, although they did offer to "allow me to return it". I never heard another word from them, after I told them I reported them to Amazon for their deceptive listing. I bought a new SKB guitar case via ebay for $125 from ProAudio Star in Oct. 2019. It arrived in new condition but with a broken handle. I contacted them & got a return ship tag & returned it with the promise they would send me another new case in usable condition. Instead, they only issued me a credit of $100 and told me that I returned it longer than the 30 day return window- therefore no new case. So- I'm out $25 and got excuses.
