Dr. Sandoval heard my experiences & issues over the years of treating the issue and broke things down while also educating me on what was going on in my body and how we were going to work towards getting to a better place. From having pain the moment I woke up to get out of bed to currently getting out of bed and forgetting I have back issues at times has been a pretty shocking shift for over a month into treatment. I'm still a work in progress and following the exercises while getting treated but having seen great progress already I'm pretty excited for what more time and work will accomplish in the future as the treatment continues. The whole team has been amazing to work with in helping me on this journey. They confirmed that they did. Everything was hunky dory in the end of December 2024 because I had already reached my maximum out of pocket. Now in January 2025, on the 16th, they are pressing me and brought in who I think is the Office Manager to confront me when I came out of the bathroom to pay my bill before I receive my Statement from the VA. My insurance is old style true insurance where I pay a percentage after other VA codes are confirmed. It's not a Co-Pay which is due at the time of service. For instance, often the amount is adjusted based on the contract with the VA. I sometimes need to phone the VA to get the final adjusted amount. I have not yet received a statement from the VA since this is from 13 days ago. I canceled all my remaining appointments. Obviously, once I receive my statement from the VA confirming my final amount, I'll pay it. NOTE: Unlike other medical offices, they charge 3% to pay with a card. While the PT has helped, I could buy a Massage Gun for less than I'll be paying here and have done what is helpful myself at home. Save your money and buy a good Massage Gun at Amazon. If I'd known how I would be treated and their accepting my insurance so misrepresented, 1. I would have known, and 2. I came to Joey about a year after having my first baby, when I realized my pelvic girdle and symphysis pain weren't going away on their own. We developed a plan to strengthen my back and core, and once the pain subsided, I felt stress-free and light -- I hadn't realized how much discomfort I was actually living with every day until then. The PTA supervised the aide and the PTA student in his first rotation. The PT was rarely in the facility during my visits. "The PT aide must be supervised by a licensed PT." "PTAstudent is not allowed to perform manual manipulation on patients without direct and immediate supervision of a licensed PT." On 4 occasions the student did manipulations on my arm with no supervision. The PTA was working on other patients. "PTA, aides, and any worker needs to wear a name tag. and title while working ". No name tags were seen and I was under the impression that the PTA was the PT since she said 2 years when I asked how long it took to become a PT.(misunderstanding?) Total of 20 sessions. At session 15 I told the PTA that I felt I had reached a plateau and that I was getting more pain in new areas. I requested to meet with the PT. I met the Pt on the 18th session to discuss my treatment plan going forward. I had an appointment with an orthopedist and asked the Pt to write a report on my therapy. I was totally disappointed with his comments. He implied that progress was minimal due to my Laziness and lack of commitment. He wrote"She only does her home exercises part of the time". I emailed him and objected to his comments. I did most of the .exercises every single day until I spoke to the PTA about pains and possible not recommended exercises for my condition per my research provided by reputable sources. My meeting with the PT convinced me that he did not know me and my situation. In my 20 sessions the therapist PT has NEVER WORKED ON ME OR discussed my situation with me. He was rarely in the facility. My 2 meetings with the PT was session1, the intake.At the session he took only 2 range of motion measurements.He never went over a treatment plan other than to say I would come for 3 sessions a week and progress to 2 a week. The second encounter #18 was when I requested a meeting. I asked him to remeasure the angles taken on my first meeting. He said 5 degrees an 10 degrees improved. Very minimal, and yet, the PTA told me on numerous occasions that I was doing so much better. I just completed a 12 sessions treatment at another facility.NO RED FLAGS. The intake was thorough. I knew exactly the plan and what to expect. A PT manipulated my arm on every visit before aides assisted with exercises. I could hear the PT always going over with the aides as to what he wanted done.
