I would like to preface this review by stating that I generally do not tan. I have only tanned one other time, and it was for the exact same reason about 7 years ago. I was going on a cruise to the Caribbean, and didn't want to burn down there, so I wanted to get in somewhere for some sessions. About a week before I was leaving, I called Pro-Tan and they told me I could get in on a package deal of like 5 sessions for $40. The following day when I got in there, I was told that deal is no longer valid (should have been my first indicator), even though they told me it was good until the following month... They told me I could get a "special package" for one week worth of sessions, but it was going to be around $70. I didn't need a monthly plan or anything else, since I had no intentions of tanning again after this... At this point I had no other options, since I had about 7 days left before I had to leave, so I bit the bullet and went with it. So, the first 4 sessions were great (I had to skip the weekend since I burned a little bit), I stop in (one day prior to leaving for my cruise) for my last session, and the girl walks me back to my room. Just as I was getting ready to close the door, she asked me to come back out. This is when I am told that my week expired the previous day, and I can't tan today. So I basically paid $70 for 4 sessions of tanning. They wouldn't let me tan on what should have been the 7th day. After complaining to the girl working at the front desk, she called the manager and reviewed the situation. I asked if I could at least have my final session, however she denied me and said I could not. I asked the girl at the front to ask the owner on the phone, why she didn't tell me the previous day (Mind you that the owner is the one who checked me in the previous day, and said "we'll see you tomorrow"). The owner basically said to go pound sand... I am making sure that others don't fall victim to this kind of service. If they would have at the very least just allowed me to tan on the final day, this could have been averted. I feel completely shafted, since I paid over $70 (with tax and their tanning lotion) for only 4 sessions. The owner is very rude, has no desire about customer service, and is only looking at lining her pockets. Unfortunately for her, she has no concept of customer service, and has left me with no other option other then calling her out on it. I've been going to pro tan for years and have nothing but good things to say! -the staff is super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about tanning, tanning safety, and lotions -beds are always clean -the bulbs are changed when they need to be, so you never miss out on a good tan -store hours are 8am-9pm (makes it easy to go before or after work) -they always have deals and free upgrades for members -packages are fairly priced This is the place to go for any tanning needs! Ive been going here for tanning for 3 years now and the staff is always very knowledgable and friendly on any tanning question I have. I've had tanning memberships at a few different places over the years, being new to the area this is the only one I have tried in Milwaukee. Although Pro Tan has the most beds and many options of different beds, it is also the dirtiest. I tanned there today in a gold level bed and noticed a disgusting amount of hair, dust, and dirt in, on, and around the bed. There were also bobby pins under the acrylic. read more

This salon sucks, compared to nearby competition; they're on the pricier side for single-use sessions, and rarely offer promos. Their terms for use are also inflexible; for example, I was told I could only buy the HP bed as a "2 for 1 specials packet". Their pricing and retention techniques doesn't make sense to me. $50 for only 2 sessions is high, when your competitor often offers their HP for $10+ less, AND let their clients upgrade/combine at membership pricing (even if not a member). I bought a package of 5 spray tans and was never told that they expire. You have to buy more in order to reactivity the expired tans. 1) it would have been nice to head that they expire when I purchased the package. I wasn't planning on using them within a month. 2). I have paid for tans that I cannot use. If this were my business I would rethink the policies as it leaves a bitter taste in your customers mouth. I will not refer friends like I have in the past, don't want them to be misled as I was. read more

Watch out! Don't sign a contract with this company. The employees will tell you you can cancel your membership any time as long as its before the 15th of the month. The CS person talked me out of the 8 tan package for my wife and I and got both of us on the unlimited plan. She told me I could cancel both plans after the first month, she even told me the specific date. Prior to my vacation I cancelled just like I was supposed to. They even gave me a cancelation number and told me I could tan through the 15th. I got a call from Jess while on my vacation telling me it was a mistake to let me cancel my membership and they "have" to bill me the following month. All that being said because of their C.S. misleading and lieing to me I spent $270 for a total of 8 tans between my wife and I.... I will never go back ever and i encourage everyone to consider using a different tanning service. read more

I was a member there for almost ten years. I made the mistake of buying $10 spray tans (versa spa) when they had a sale. I bought five of them before I tried them, because I was told it does not have a smell to it. I got home, and realized I smell like a dirty wet dog. We are not supposed to shower for 6 hours, but even once I showered it still smelled. The tan is blotchy even though I exfoliated. I asked if I could please get a refund on my unused purchased tans and they told me they do not do refunds. The customer service has always been aweful. They stand and watch you walk out, and no one bothers to say "have a nice day" or "thank you". DON"T DO THE VERSA SPA if you are sensitive to the DHT self tanner smell. read more

Plans are expensive and they make it extremely difficult for you to cancel. You literally can only cancel on one day of the month, or they charge you for the next month whether you want them to or not. The ONLY PLUS is that they do have the best variety of beds and levels but A MAJOR CUSTOMER SERVICE ISSUE is a feeling of being judged by the staff and it is just not worth it. I'll take my money elsewhere if that's how you want to treat me and my girlfriends who are trying to buy a package or get a spray tan. I've heard them berate people as soon as they walk in their tanning booth. Not cool. I have never in my life been to such an advanced tanning salon. The staff there is amazing and they have so many beds to offer for reasonable prices. With signing up with their monthly membership they also give you a great deal on their lotion. The salon is cleaner than most restaurants I have ever been in. Every time I go there I always feel welcomed and valued by the wonderful staff. The manager has told me herself that they also change the bulbs in the salon at its half-life so youre never tanning in Dull bulbs!!! You must go and see for yourself!! :) read more

Don't sign up!! They don't inform you that you have to cancel by the first of the month (no matter when you sign up). So, if you think you have to cancel by your sign up date you're mistaken...that way they get an extra month of charges on your card! read more
