It's been about a year since my last visit to Skn Bar, and this time around the experience did not…read moredisappoint! I've been wanting to get a chemical peel for sometime now, and decided to give it a try here. For those who don't know, a chemical peel facial essentially removes layers of skin to help improve the appearance of wrinkles, acne, scars, uneven skin tone... all things my skin is in need of. A whole skin resurfacing, if you will. I saw Riley, who was a new-to-me aesthetician, and I really enjoyed her! She did a fantastic job of walking me through the entire process of a chemical peel. From the facial procedure itself, so what after steps will look like, and how to care for my skin during all of it. Apparently your skin can tingle and burn to a degree while getting this done, as they are using some stronger acid blends working to enhance the skin clarity. I personally didn't feel much burning sensation at all, but Riley is there with a fan to help cool the process. The peel application didn't take more than 25/30 minutes (which surprised me), but I was in and out. With chemical peels, it's expected that your skin will literally "shed" over the course of a week or so, allowing new skin cell turnover and the smoother skin below to surface. I'm on day four since I had this done and today is the first day I'm really started to see the shedding. Is it cute? No. But is it working? Absolutely. My skin is even purging a bit, which just proves the treatment it working really deep, pulling out crap, dirt, bacteria, etc. I've also already noticed a difference in texture, as it's looking smoother. I'll plan to go back in 4 or 5 weeks for another peel treatment, as recommended to meet my goals of really healing my skin from the acne scarring, poor texture, and hyperpigmentation. For once I'm excited about results!!

AVOID IF SENSITIVE TO SMELLS or air pollution or you don't like being belittled…read more I asked for a room without oil diffusing, because the place stinks and I felt ill from it. The nurse told me that nothing is diffusing but she is what smells because she slathers herself in some oil to disinfect. 1) I like nurses to use proper cleaning techniques 2) the response should have been that she will go wash off or try to wash off the oil. But no. That didn't happen. So I tried to fill out the paperwork but the smell was awful. Then a guy that works there came in and said that it smells great. I said no, it doesn't. He asked what's wrong with me that I don't think it smells good. I said it made me feel sick and my sinuses don't like it. He told the nurse they should "throw her in the sauna." What?! I'm not the problem and I don't need to be thrown anywhere. Your crazy overuse of a concentrated oil is making me ill! I tried to finish the paperwork but I couldn't thing clearly enough to do it. I had to leave. So now I feel awful AND I didn't get a b12 shot. I'm totally disappointed because I'd have liked to use some of their other services but I just felt sick and put down.
