I've always been a fan of ancient medicine as way of healing so I was eager to try. Off the bat, the studio is welcoming as you enter. There is an overall warmth and calming aroma, and you can really feel the soothing energy. Working with Anne has been great. She comes off as very gentle, understanding, and of course, knowledgeable. She made my first time very comfortable. We talked through what issues I need work on and she thoroughly explained the hows and whys of treatment. I laid back in one of their comfortable reclining chairs and prepared to be poked! All jokes aside, you can hardly feel the needles being put in. With my goals to work on digestive and skin issues, needles were places in my legs, arms, and face as way of focusing in on that treatment. I'm still fascinated on how it all works! Don't get me wrong, you feel a bit paralyzed at first, as you're really not supposed to move around much. Once you get relaxed however, it's complete zen. The wave sounds and low-key music made for a perfect meditative zone. My first experience was about thirty minutes long, but you never feel rushed to leave. As Anne let me know, if you are in a great deep state and wish to stay longer, you can feel free to do so. I loved that I could book the appointment online, it's just so much more convenient for my work schedule to pop into a website between meetings and find a time that works for my calendar. Having the prices available on the site was also appreciated. The location was easy to find and I snagged parking right across the street, another bonus. Anne was very nice and thorough in both her forms and questions. As I wasn't actively experiencing any neck pain at the time of the appointment and never having had this treatment before, she recommended a general procedure that should also help with my lack of sleep. Her calm demeanor definitely put me at ease! I do wish the office area wasn't so cluttered with papers and random bags, it made me a tad skeptical of the firm's organizational skills and attention to detail, truth be told. While I am not afraid of needles, having sharp objects inserted into my body isn't high on my list of definitions of a good time, but the procedure was essentially painless and I was able to relax a bit while in the chair. Which brings me to my other quibble here: I was cold sitting in the chair with my pants rolled up to my knees and my shirt up to my elbows. Anne did bring me a blanket which helped a little, but not totally. She suggested I sit closer to a heater next time. While not untrue, it also wasn't particularly helpful. I think a better solution would be more heaters. All in all, I did sleep better that night and would definitely give it a try here again--but only if I can score a heater seat!

Before I saw Dr. Murray, my back "went out" 5 to 10 times a year as it seems bad backs are in my family history. It never "goes out" any more, but if I do have an issue, he is there to guide me to a speedy recovery. I like to do routine adjustments to keep everything in check, because as we know everything stems from the spine - on out, and because of that, a side bonus is - I rarely get sick, as in rsv, colds or flu, especially in the winter. Recently a ganglionic cyst appeared out of nowhere on the inside of my wrist. I was in for a routine adjustment and showed it to Dr. Murray. He said "I can help with that"! Who knew that, that is something a Chiropractor could treat. I was in quite a bit of pain, and after the first treatment went home with most of the pain gone, and the next day pain was totally gone. After a week, I was seeing dramatic results, and about 2 weeks - all but gone. Amazing!! Thanks so much Dr. Murray... PS I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't mention the awesome staff. An IR Sauna was just what I needed after a busy day. I was greeted by Roland, who gave me a short…read moretour and answered my questions. It was a 40-minute sauna, which also included Halotherapy. Halotherapy is a fine salt mist that supports respiratory health, skin clarity and relaxation. I can say I took deep breaths during the 20 minutes it ran and I could feel my lungs opening up. I started by choosing my temperature of 50 (the range is 30-70), and I like a good sweat but not overly extreme. I was sweating at about 15 minutes in and could feel the heat in my bones shortly thereafter. There is a screen for me to select between YouTube or Netflix (no commercials, my choice of program), and I chose a mellow autumn screen with gentle music. The lights in the sauna are adjustable to my liking, and the red glow from the heat lamps gave me a nice glow that did not need any other lights or brightness. Drink lots of water before, during, and after your session. They sell LMNT waters and additives if you prefer to bring your own water. There is also a bottle filler for free. There are two types of sauna rooms: the standard and the shower room. The standard room has a chair, hooks, and sufficient room to change and towel off. The shower room is ADA accessible, with a level floor and a bit larger sauna area. There is no cost difference between the two. However, the bench in the standard room was too narrow for me to lie on with my elbows at my sides. (I am not a large woman, and I had to lock my hands on my stomach to keep one from falling off the edge of the bench. But the shower room has a bit wider bench (or so Roland told me later), and that bench can be pulled away from the wall if preferred. I wish I had had this info before I got settled in. Wheelchairs will fit in all areas of this business and access is easy, including the bathrooms. The entire area was pristine, clean, and ready for use. After I finished, my bones felt nice and warm for the next 2 hours, at least. I slept well, and this morning I feel physically comfortable and fully relaxed. I can understand the benefits of having an IR Sauna regularly, and I plan to do so.

She made me feel very comfortable and asked questions about my pain points and areas of my body that needed some extra care. On my first visit, I had a hot stone massage which was very relaxing and calming. I'd definitely recommend this massage for stress relief. I've also tried the deep tissue massage, which is a little more intense but really helped with my shoulder pain. The Lisbon location is convenient, close to Tosa. The studio is clean and nicely decorated. Street parking always available.

My massage therapist lead me to my room and I admit I was a little unimpressed. It was a plain room with what reminded me of a travel/basic table and not one of the nicer more permanent/plush ones I've encountered at other massage spas. The bed was heated and there was nice relaxing music on. The massage itself wasn't bad, but I didn't leave overly impressed. I did ask for a firmer pressure and my massage therapist did adjust, but it wasn't as relaxing as my past experiences. Definitely a solid option and I'd give it another try in the future.
