I am currently attending this academy and I love it! Everyone has their own opinion, but this is my personal opinion. CLASSES: The classes here are small which is nice. They have foundations, concealers, liners, lipsticks, eye shadows etc. you can use which is also nice.The only con I can think of is that sometimes there is a lot to cover in a 4 hour class and it can feel a little crammed, but its my responsibility to take it all in and go study and practice on my own because that's the only way one will ever learn. But I still love and learn a lot with each class. PRICE: What you pay for is what you get. And what you get is a lot more then you think. For an 80 Hour 20 Week program I paid less then 2 G's! where else can you go for that price? I have seen 1 day classes ranging between 2-4 hours at other places or makeup companies that ask for $100+ for those couple hours on just one subject. At this academy you learn the basics all the way up to Special FX and thousands of other things in between. They payment plans and options are a HUGE PLUS! TEACHERS: I have read so many negative reviews on the teachers that when I first signed up, I was hoping I didn't have that problem with them. But I have absolutely no problem with Cristina or the other gals and I love them as my teachers. I honestly have nothing negative to say about them, and I try to understand why people talk so much shit on them and I cant. Like I said everyone has their own opinion, but I'm sticking to mine. People that come on here saying they "should have trusted their instinct" or "should have known better" SHOULD HAVE gone somewhere else. For reals ladies! You choose to stay there and have a negative experience instead of taking your own advice and leaving to spend thousands else where. Its your own fault. I have nothing against other schools that cost an arm and a leg, but if you want to get your certificate and not have to pay a crazy amount to get it, then i suggest going here. Its good to start off and learn a lot of things, get your MUA certificate and start a career in whatever it may be, then later down the road if you want to go to an extravagant school, then by all means do it! I plan of finishing my course at Pro Studio Makeup Academy, getting my certificate, venturing off on my own then later down the road go to a Special FX school. If you are planning to go here and are iffy because of the reviews (trust me, I was too) you need to try it for yourself. I have attended Pro Studio Makeup and I took the 80hr course. At first I was a bit hesitant about attending the school after reading all the bad yelp reviews but I didn't allow it to discourage me and actually decided to try the school for myself. The first time I went in to view the school my first impression was how clean the location is. I met up with my instructor Cristina and I explained to her how I was looking for a school to attend. A good and affordable makeup school. I was very excited to attend her school. In all honesty I feel that it has been a life changing experience for me attending this school. I went from pretty much thinking I knew the basics about makeup to learning so much. My instructor was Cristina and I feel she was attentive and very patient and taught me so much about the makeup industry. I feel that If you are considering not coming to this school due to the bad reviews I think you should definitely try it out for yourself. I was taught the importance about sanitizing and how to value and price your work, how to use the color wheel, color theory and basics, how to apply makeup on different face shapes and structures, skin preparation, how to apply makeup on different eyebrow shapes, matching skin Undertones, concealing and camouflage, how to contour and I also learned different methods of applying hair extensions. Not only did I learn the basics but I feel that she taught me how to prepare myself out in the real world of makeup. I feel that the pricing to this school is great affordable and what I liked about my instructor is that she is very professional and she took her time to explain everything and she also provide a contract copy for me and would go above and beyond to make sure I understood everything. I personally never write yelp reviews this is actually my first one. I always read about what other people have to say and I thought about all the times I've read a yelp review and have decided not to try the place due to the bad review. The reason why I give this school 5 stars is because all these bad reviews don't justify how amazing this school the level of education they provide for you is definitely a 5 star!! I have been attending this school for a few months now, I'm almost done and I am very happy with my choice, I was a bit skeptical at first because of some previous reviews but every business has good and bad reviews so I decided to give it a try. I have learned a lot about makeup that I never even thought was related to makeup like color theory, skin undertones face structure and the most important ones is different eye shapes, because not everyone has the same eye shape and not every look goes with everyone. The instructor Denise is very detailed in her explanations and the ladies there make the class more interesting. They are very friendly and easy going. Price wise I think you get much more than what you pay for and the pay as you go option helped me a lot!! My credit is not that great and getting a loan was not an option for me, they work with you with the payments and that's amazing. I'm almost done with my class and I look forward to receiving my certification. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is serious about making a profession out if makeup artistry because they really do prepare you to be a professional. The only CON I can say is 4 hours is not enough time for me I wish the classes were a bit longer. :) read more

It's getting annoyed by recent bad reviews ppl are giving to this school. I honestly don't see nothing wrong with the instructors, the teaching skills or the makeup. If you really want real reviews of how this school is teaching & how it's really run now days. Then ask for an appointment to go see it for yourself! I'm sure the owner wouldn't mind at all, nor the students, not the instructors. I myself dislike the whole gossiping, being disrespectful, & being unfair to anyone. During the time I attended to Pro Studio Makeup Academy I really did learned. I even went back for an additional course. You want to know why?? Because everything I said about this school in previous review was all True. Nothing wrong with it. All professional & friendly environment :) I made friends who I now work with from time to time. I've been wanting to go to a makeup school for a while, but all the schools are so far and expensive, I was driving on whittier and saw some girls in all black outside so I pulled into the parking lot and found this makeup school!! I did my research on all other schools and never came across this one, I made an appointment to come in and Ana was so nice and helpful, I went into the studio to check it out and the class was small which I really like!! I looked on line I saw some bad reviews about it but I still wanted to attend as it was so close to my house and so affordable!! I started my class in September and I have to say the reviews must be old because nothing they described I have seen... I did feel intimidated at first but as we started working that changed.. I attended a hair extensions class here, I saw on their Facebook they had a hair extensions class for $150 which I thought was a very good deal!! The class was small so the instructor had a bit more time with each student. We learned 2 types of hair extensions method and I got my certification, I am very happy with the service and I plan to enroll on their 80he course! I couldn't made a much better decision than choosing pro studio makeup academy.... even though there are so many schools close by I prefer driving 40 min and get teached all about the makeup industry than to waste my time at other schools when u just pay for the makeup kit so far I can say is the best experience ever have learned so much and hope others can make the same decision I made when it comes to looking for a makeup school!!! read more

I attended Pro Studio Makeup Academy and I loved it!!!!! The instructors are so nice, fun, and very helpful. I learned conturing, night/day eyeshadow, lips, eyebrows, ext.. I learn new makeup tricks, and tips. The school also worked a payment plan with me :) Special effects was my favorite! I truly recommend this school to anyone who has a passion for beauty.
