Pro Saw Inc Have Saws but not Pros.
As a residential contractor and professional re-modeler for 30 years I have a tremendous amount of experience with contractors of all types, trades and abilities. As a business owner, I have worked with countless other companies over the years; many of whom I have long standing relationships with. It is not uncommon to work with folks who are very rough around the edges but make up for this with experience and a hard work ethic.
On a recent whole house remodel, we were tasked with enlarging a couple of basement windows that included digging the foundation out below grade. I called and talked to the owner Eric on the phone at length about the project and some of the challenges surrounding the engineering, site conditions and the project schedule. He was clear in communicating that he wanted the work, was capable of doing the work, and was available to do the work. When the job was ready for him, he was going to be on vacation in Mexico for a week and wanted me to wait until he returned because he was concerned the job was to difficult for his son to take on alone (even though we offered to have my crew help him) so we waited a week for him to return.
As you can likely guess from the one star review, he and his son showed up, looked at the job and then unbelievably, said he didn't want to do the work because it was too hard. Additionally, he had the audacity to be angry with me about it. We had the job prepared professionally as any re-modeler would with good access, completely tented off inside and I had spoken to Eric's son while Eric was on vacation to ensure that the site conditions were acceptable.
Many will read this review and take away different things. Perhaps the owner will follow up my insights here with his own side of the story. Rest assured, it is with great disappointment that I write a review about another residential contractor. As a general contractor myself, I would only submit a negative review about another contractor under the most extreme of circumstances. This is a very difficult business to be in and I give all of my trade partners a very long leash on my project sites. Never the less, Eric's behavior this morning was outrageous in the extreme. His reasoning for walking off the job and driving away inside of 4 minutes was that he was to old for this type of job. It was more work than he expected and more challenging than he anticipated. He wanted to be able to do the job from the outside even though they had been clear with me that if needed, they would do it from the inside of the foundation. They were clear they had the equipment and the experience to have done the job in a follow up phone conversation with Eric after he stormed off the job. Additionally, he had no reasonable answer as to why he was comfortable leaving me, my project schedule and the homeowner in this situation. I offered him the opportunity to problem solve the situation and return to do this work with help from me and he repeated the claim that he was getting to old for this. When politely and professionally pressed on the phone about his final decision, he hung up on me.
I was shocked. I have rarely, if ever, encountered something like this in my 30 years of construction. I will be working for the next couple of days to repair the fallout with my project schedule and my relationship with the homeowner who expects more from me as general contractor. I am embarrassed to have tried to offer work to a company such as this. Undeserving and entitled, they show up to a job they promised to do, that I held for them for several days, that was sufficiently prepared for them with access, and onsite support personnel to facilitate any additional needs; and they storm off. Very unfortunate for all involved. Again, it with great regret, but this review must be posted to protect other contractors and homeowners from this sort of situation read more
