American Eagle is probably my favorite clothing store. The jeans always fit my small frame…read moreperfectly. I've since tried getting my sister interested in the jeans as well. Shopping during the holidays SUCKS. There is no denying that. We stopped in around noon on a Saturday. Not many people in the store. She found a pair of skinny jeans and made her way to the fitting rooms. AE has those annoying fitting rooms where the door locks and you need an employee to help open it. In theory this would be great .... if someone was actually working that department. So we waited .... and waited .... and waited. Five minutes past and still no one came to help us. At this point I contemplated crawling under the door to unlock it. JOY! I see an employee walking towards the fitting room. She walks into the fitting room section .... And just ignores the two of us waiting to try on clothes. Does she not see us there? How could you not see us? I thought it was a joke. She doesn't even look our way and instead walks out to help someone else with a fitting room. At this point I am highly annoyed. Needless to say we walked out without making a purchase. We'll go to another AE where the employees care about the business.

To start this out, I used to work for the company so I know what the policies and procedures are -…read moreespecially when it comes to the trading customer items in. So I went in today to trade in a board I've been using as decor for years - it's in excellent condition and it's also just really cool in general because it's a limited edition gnu board with universal horror monsters all over one side of it with a green trim - truly gorgeous BUT bills are in demand right now so I had to let go of it. So I figure this will be an easy process and I'm ready to take a lower amount for it (maybe like $150 or something considering I got it for $600 myself originally previously owned and again it was just decor so it's in the same condition I originally bought it in. I went to play it again sports to trade in my board - I've worked there so I know the process and I'm willing to take a hit (accept $150 at the lowest) and am totally cool with that because I'm desperate for bill money right now So I go in, a teenager is working and I was like "hi I'm trying to trade in my board" and he said "okay I'll have my manager take a look at it." Nice and normal. I said "and just to save you some time it was really hard to find info on the board but I know it's from 2007-2010 originally so it'll help your search." I wish I had shut up and Not been helpful. He said "oh yeah I don't know if we can take it if it's that old." I said "if it's usable that doesn't matter? Also if I didn't tell you the year then you wouldn't have said that? And if anything it's worth more because of how rare it is and what good condition it's in so why does the year matter?" (Repeating, I've worked here before...so that was a load of crap.) He said "okay yeah I'll ask him."So he goes and asks another teenager working there and comes back and says "yeah my manager said if it's that old we can't take it." I said "he's not even gonna look at it? Because of the year?" He said "I don't snowboard so I don't know much but yeah sorry" ALRIGHT MY GUY IF YOU DONT KNOW SNOWBOARDS THEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON THE WORTH IS LIKE EXTRA USELESS LIKE GO GET YOUR BOSS TO ACTUALLY DO HIS JOB??? So he says, "he's really busy" - it wasn't busy. At all. So I'm shocked at that response and just stand there and say, "no I'll wait, he can look at the board like he's supposed to." He goes off and asks him and him and the teenage manager plus some other kid (I swear to god they were like all in high school) to look at the board. I pretend to walk around the store but at this point I didn't trust them at all so I was actually paying attention to them and this is what they did: I watch them stare at the board and spin it a little, then tell me they can give me $25. 1. So the "we can't take it if it's that old" was a blatant lie because magically they can now 2. The board is priced off of a few factors, all of which require research and they did absolutely ZERO of that to determine a price. They just made it up on the spot. I laughed at the random insult of a number they gave and just left. Absolutely insane experience and I don't know if this location just doesn't train their people correctly or if it's because they hire them so young but good lord that was such a wildly ignorant and unprofessional experience. Train your people or hire competency.

DSW is my go to spot for a special pair of shoes for my granddaughter or myself. The kids selection is amazing and they even carry Stride Rite brand. Then, when I asked about the sale for a couple bags which had sale signs above the bags, she told me they weren't on sale and that there was nothing she could do. I went to the Ann Arbor DSW and the bag was on sale. So, I knew I was correct but didn't cause them any trouble because I'm a good person. Unfortunately, since the terrible customer service and respect for their own co-workers, I will never return. That was my first time at that location. Not very smart of them as their job in retail is ending as these kinds of stores are closing because everyone is shopping online. I would suggest to have better customer service even if you don't like who the customers are because we are paying customers that keep you having a job!
