I really hope this is the right place. Today, as I was doing a last minute fill up prior to my flight back to NY at a gas station on Sheldon road, I accidentally locked my keys and phone in the car. The rental company roadside assistance never showed up, allowing me to potentially miss my flight! I was still at the gas station when my plane began boarding. At this point there was no hope :/ Until a man, whose name I never got, unfortunately, walked into the gas station convenience store. He knew the attendant, where he was asked if he can at all assist me. He didn't make me any promises but said he would try. Well, he DID get my door unlocked at the nick of time, and I made my flight my ONE single minute. He was a godsend at that moment and can't thank him enough. This business is super lucky to have an employee like this. I never got his name but he is a bald guy who like me, speaks Spanish as well as English. I had my oil changed at Pro Auto Care back in January. At the time, I asked to see the old oil filter after the service, but the person at the front desk did not provide it afterwards. I chose not to press the issue. While I was there, they also recommended replacing both my windshield wipers and the cabin air filter. This struck me as suspicious because I had just changed the cabin filter during my previous oil change at a reputable shop in South Tampa, and my wipers were functioning perfectly. I declined both. After leaving, I noticed a buzzing noise coming from the cabin air filter. When I checked it at home, I found leaves inside. I cleaned them out and wondered--though it felt far-fetched--if the debris had been planted to justify the upsell. Still, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and said nothing. Today, I returned to my previous shop in South Tampa for another oil change. That mechanic showed me the oil filter he removed and said it looked excessively dirty--he also noted it looked like the same one he had installed during my last visit months ago. This raises serious doubts as to whether Pro Auto Care actually changed the oil filter back in January. I can't say with 100% certainty, but my strong suspicion is they did not. I left Pro Auto Care with a bad gut feeling in January, and this latest experience only reinforces my concern. Based on what I've seen, I do not trust them to do honest work, and I won't be returning. read more

Went into Pro Care Auto because had a break switch gromment ($4 part) break off and needed to be replaced. This resulted in the battery dying on the vehicle. Came into the shop early in the morning to have it replaced and picked up after work. The battery in my vehicle was fine and only a couple of years old. I brought a new battery with me to replace the old one despite this. So they replaced the break switch gromment and the battery. They charged $25.56 for parts and $208.49 for labor for a 30 minute job. The total bill was $251.06. They gave me no signed quote before I went in and I clearly told them that the only problem that needed to be fixed was the brake switch gromment being replaced. This is in direct violation with Florida law 559.905 where it states that quote "any repair work on a motor vehicle, which cost of which repair work will exceed $150 to the customer, the shop shall repair a written repair estimate." The whole problem is that there was no signed written estimate or verbal estimate. So $400 an hour for labor? read more

They were friendly and fast and assured me they would get to the bottom of what's going on. I received a detailed text and call same day to review the diagnoses and timeline when it could be fixed. The next morning, I received a friendly call as promised saying it was all ready for me. Nothing Pro about my experience with this place. Brought my vehicle in for regular maintenance and to fix a chirping belt. Somehow that visit turned into an all day adventure that ultimately cost me $900.00, and the kicker the chirping belt isn't fixed. There's plenty of better places in the area to go to. read more

I needed a pre-purchase inspection preformed because there was no way I was buying a Jeep in Tampa, FL when I live in Atlanta, GA without a third party inspection. I had a very hard time getting an appointment time anywhere - I had to have a scheduled time for the dealer to agree to drive it there for the inspection. Pro Auto Care came through and set up a time for the dealer to come and get the inspection done. They were very thorough and gave my the necessary information I needed to determine if I wanted to ship the Jeep to GA or not. This place was recommended by AAA when my vehicle broke down a few miles away. Initial estimate was for a broken belt and water pump. The next day they called and said they had to remove the AC (and replace the refrigerant) in order to install the water pump which would cost an additional $200 or so. Repair shops have reference manuals that estimate the time to perform any given repair which the shops use to provide a quote. When I picked the vehicle up and asked about why the time and material for the AC hadn't been provided initially, I was told their manual didn't tell them they had to remove it to install the water pump. Pro Auto's reference manual must be out of date unless there is some other reason for having hours and materials added after the initial quote. I wouldn't recommend this shop and I'm surprised it's on AAA's recommended list. read more

I made a reservation online for a routine oil change and inspection, I received an email back saying "OK". I took it in the next day at the scheduled time, where I was quoted $125 in person for the oil change and inspection, I gave them my keys and was told it would be done before the end of day. I called later around 5pm and they said they had to order a part and it would take another day (which I thought was weird since I didn't approve any work other than an oil change). They tried to offer services for some repairs and after a quick google search they were charging $270 for a $40 part. I come back the next day to get my car after calling and the bill ended up being 212 and change, they pull my car around front and leave the keys inside with it running and I noticed they broke the ring that holds my remote and key together. I left a review on google after feeling duped, and they responded passive aggressively. First and last time with this place. read more

Have to update the previous review where I complained about the service. There were missing lug nuts and my trunk cover was missing. Complained to the Service Manager, Dan, that addressed the issue and they will pay for the mistake. Its not usual that auto service firms do the right thing when there is an error but this firm did so comfortable with updating my review to reflect a more favorable rating. Mistakes will be made but addressing errors are the making of a reputable firm. read more

Don't use them they will rip you off! Took my vehicle in to get oil change and check engine light Don said I needed this and that I said ok thinking everything would be taken care of properly. Got bill 1800.00 I said ok and paid, one day later engine light still on took back 8:00 in the morning called next day hadn't even looked at will call u back in a few hour hell I could have used my car and not let sit on their lot for a day, after getting back with me said it will be another 1200.00 I paid to get a diagnostic and they added all they other stuff and not fix the problem with the engine light. I will never go back will take care to dealership from now on. Watch Dan or Don what ever his name is he'll pretend to be friendly but will rip you off if he can . read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE!! I called last week and arranged an appointment to drop off my truck the first thing in the morning. Don the service rep spoke to me and said bring it by and they will take care of it. Don already knew what the work was needed because I came in 2 weeks prior to get an estimate. So as usual in past conversations Don acted like your best friend all buddy buddy talking and said bring it buy and we will take care of it. We have all the parts ready. So I dropped it off 8:00 am in morning. All day no word. So I thought it must be much worst than they thought. The NEXT morning I called and I ask Don what is the status of my truck. Don said we have not started on it YET.. (WTF!!! i was thinking) Without any apologizes he just said due to the last weeks hurricane backup we could not get to it. I said why the hell would I drop off my truck if I knew you would not work on it (I was thinking you stupid B@#$$%) I knew they screwed up and wires got crossed. Don just did not want to admit to it. This is very shady dealing and very bad business in my opinion. A total waste of my time and day off. You suck Pro Auto Care and also you Don! read more

Caveat emptor! The $110 evaluation was for a minimal look at codes and a brief visual inspection. Worst of all I was asked to pay an additional $110 fee to evaluated a brake/ABS issue. I was also charged double the retail cost for a non-OEM part needed (BMW coil). The "service" sales guy also gave bad advise for a non-BMW recommended service. I understand they do a great job with body work but after this experience I cannot recommend for mechanical repairs. read more

Dont go to Pro auto care. Everytime I went there, they always found something wrong with my car. When there was nothing wrong with my car. They are shady and their Gang leader Dan is the shadest of them all. He sold my wife defective firestone tires that barely lasted 6 months. When I complained, Dan was unprofessional, yelling, and getting in my face and acting like a school yard bully. Dan pulled up recalls and TSB's for my van and instructed me to get it repaired for free at the dealer. He saved me over $1,000. Now there were still some other issues and I would have him repair if I had not recently decided to trade up. We live nearby, and my wife's check engine light came on one day. The car was fully drivable when we dropped it off to have it checked. They came up with a diagnosis alright, but they then proceeded to tell me that the outrageous fee they charged for their diagnosis would not be applied to the cost of the repair if I decided to let them do the work. I told them that was just bad business and I refused to let them work on it. We then went to drive the car off their lot, but it would no longer stay running for more than 15 seconds before sputtering and dying... and the car was perfectly drivable when we dropped it off. The repair guys had screwed something up when the were poking around and the techs had to work on it in the parking lot to get it back to the way I brought it in. All this, and the manager was rude to me about the whole thing... and I was courteous during the whole debacle! Take your business elsewhere! read more

My 25 year old niece was side-swipped and took her car here based on shops approved by her insurance. Her first estimate for completion was almost a month. She was diligent about calling for progress and to ensure all of the insurance details and payments were in order. The car was not done by the estimate date and her advisor Joseph told her it would be another 10 days. She told Joseph she would be on vacation and then starting a new job so it was VERY important for her to have her car back by the new completion date. No problem he told her. On the morning of pickup, she calls Joseph to tell him she's on her way and Joseph can't tell her the status of her repair (the shop isn't that big!) I'm hearing his tone with her on the phone and I'm incredulous with how he is talking to her when she stands up for herself. Cut to the chase, I take her to the shop and Joseph proceeds to tell her that they found a 'cracked' tail light that was on national back order and therefore her car isn't ready. What was even more troubling is that there were NO problems with the tail light when she took it in NOR should a cracked tail light prohibit having her car ready for pickup! No calls, no updates AND Joseph proceeds to tell her that SHE should have followed up and been more diligent!! My niece is almost in tears!! His tone dripped of condensation. We asked for the manager/owner and were told "he's on vacation". Very unprofessional. I will provide a follow up post when we pick up the car on the quality of the work and any further issues that occur. I also suggested my niece follow up with her insurance company, the BBB as well as write additional online reviews on their exceptionally poor customer service and professionalism. read more

Got an oil change package today that was supposed to include a free wash at flippers. The oil change service was great and the guy in the front Lary was very personable. The only disappointing thing was I waitied in line for the car wash next door at flippers for about 25 minutes then when it was my turn the code said it was invalid. I had about 8 cars behind me that all had to go into reverse so I can get out. They close early on Saturdays so when I tried to call no one answered and there was no answering mavhing service to have them call me back. So frustrating! read more
