I feel fortunate to be able to work with Mark Woinarowicz (Coach Mark) and the PT team at PRN Physical Therapy- they have helped me a ton with my whacked out spine/back. Mark is a focused, but empathetic, force in helping folks address what ails them. I'd thought I'd come to the end of my PT experiences with my Knee Replacement and, most recently, a Shoulder Replacement, but then got referred to work on my spine. Mark is an encouraging person who explains both the big picture, and the specifics of the attack plan to get better. He is also creatively flexible, responding to feedback from patients to craft a more effective workout. Mark flipped my disappointment with having to go back to PT, into a renewed motivation to address my spine, and to incorporate the weak knee and shoulder into continued strength-building and range of motion improvement. Mark's treatment team (the folks who set up the exercises, help patients do the exercises, and help patients maintain success momentum) are Jett, Miguel and Matt. These are the guys who help me get my form right, transition between exercises, and generally help with whatever a patient needs to excel. They are upbeat and full of energy, as well as perceptive enough to help patients fine-tune details of their performance. They help put each individual's plan into action; they are where the rubber meets the road. Last, but definitely not the least, is the Huge Smile patients see when they come in the front door: Mareya. She checks everyone in, and gets everyone organized for their sessions. If negative stars were allowed they will get one for being a fraud.. an assembly line kind of outfit... I had a shoulder/rotator cuff tear and was referred to this place. They billed me $480 for one hour. Of which all was paid by my company Qualcomm except $75. Now, you would say, hey, this is very good .. getting a professional service for $75. Right? Ok, let's break it down. Of the one hour, i sat for 10 min before they called my name. Another 10 or 15 min of interview, as to what the symptoms were.. ok..that is reasonable... then 15 min of workout, ok. Since it was my first time, no problem.. And finally, ice treatment.. Yusuf, the PT seemed very knowledgeable.. but ****$480 for getting 15 min of treatment**** ....really??!? Good luck to you all. You can reach out to me so you know I am not bull crap'g .. I had given up hope of ever walking again. He immediately began using Manuel orthopedic therapy and soft tissue mobilization on me to access, identify, and target the way I kept my body clenched to deal with the excruciating back, hip, and leg pain. I was recovering from my third spinal surgery and dealing with nerve pain running down my left leg around my knee and into my foot ( drop foot) making it a struggle to try and walk. Yousef specializes in post surgery rehabilitation, pain management, and most importantly strength training. He has helped me gain the confidence I needed not to give up - his evidence based approach to recover, his knowledgeable staff and philosophy far exceeds any normal physical therapy clinic I have experienced in the past. Yousef has taught me how to strengthen my muscles in order to gain control inside my body to support the weakened areas as I move through the healing process. I started my PT on crutches, and ended up running to my car by my last treatment. I was told by me MD, that I would heal regardless of doing PT or not. However, I healed faster and they helped to strengthen the weak, vulnerable areas of my body. That will prevent re-injury. They provided a variety of exercises each week, with increasing intensity/strengthening as my body grew stronger. My first session, I came on crutches for a hip/back injury. Walking was difficult. After 12 treatments, I am now jogging, biking, hiking, and weight-training. I have a high co-pay. But well worth the time and effort for a strong body that can perform. read more

I did a series of PT sessions at PRN La Jolla with Yousef Ghandour and the team for chronic neck pain. My orthopedic pain doctor recommended I try Physical Therapy before we moved on to considering surgery. After 8 weeks of treatments and doing the recommended exercises every day, I have gone from a pain level of 8 or 9 to a pain level of 1 or 2. I highly recommend this practice. I've been working with Ilana Cartun at PRN La Jolla since I found out I tore my ACL in January. I've worked with her for my prehab and continuing for my recovery after the ACL reconstruction surgery. She's been not only an amazing physical therapist but also such a source of goodwill and positivity for me. It's hard to recover from any injury and the attitude of people around you goes a long way. I can confidently say that she cares for my well being going beyond just a physical therapist treating my right knee. She's very knowledgeable and helps me understand the physical responses and reasons behind the stuff we do which I really appreciate. Furthermore, I had my 3 month follow-up with my surgeon last month and she was super happy with the progress made by our PT team. That's another professional testament to Ilana's care and PT programs. I hate that I have to give a one star review. The therapists are friendly. But that's it. The price for self-pay is not bad. $75 per visit. But it's useless. After the first visit, every time you go you will only have maybe 15 mins with your therapist then you practice the exercise on your own. They are just a bunch of people who tell you what exercise to do which you can easily find on YouTube. I have to say that it even worsened my condition. This is not a place for everyone. For example, if you have snapping hip, you can either have weak muscle or muscle that has been overworked. But they wont check for you what condition you are. They just give you exercise to strengthen it. Plus, they have a very skeptical practice for collecting payment. Since I am self pay, I pay everytime I am finished. After I found them useless and I stopped going, they keep sending me bills saying that I did not pay. It maybe from the appointment which I cancelled but somehow they did not cancel on their part. And I still needed to pay for that. So people beware. PRN is a chained company that has many location. If you look up PRN in Hilcrest you can see how many stars they have. read more

I'm so glad i had Ananda Whalen for my physical therapist . I'm in my 60's and have been sent for PT many times for different issues. None of those previous sessions ever truely relieved my pain until now. Amanda is patient, listens, is easy to talk to. Super smart and loves her work. I'm not sure if he's still at this location, but Jamie is one of the best therapists I've ever worked with. I saw him 3 weeks after back surgery (laminectomy). I had a good time every visit, I left worn out but no pain. He has these strong, well-trained therapist hands deep into my back to relieve all that pain. I actually had a fun trip to Yosemite (our first time there) 6 months after my surgery. This location is easy to get to, good parking, and friendly staff. This review is related to their billing. They sent my account to a collection agency after they received and deposited my payment. I called the collections company on 8/12/2020 and I found out that PRN did not notify them that they had actually received a payment from me in full 2 weeks prior (they deposited my payment on 7/27). Had I not followed up with the collection agency explaining to them that it was an error on their part and my account was paid in full, their mistake could have impacted my credit negatively. read more

I have been fortunate enough to know Yousef Ghandour for almost 15 years. I met him about the time I was first recommended to have hip surgery. Thanks to his amazing work, not only was I able to push off surgery, but I was able to keep playing competitive basketball for another 12 years. I couldn't be happier with his help over the years. Yousef Ghandour is the best physical therapist I have ever seen. After I happened to fall off a wall several feet down onto a cement driveway, I was lucky enough to find Yousef, who has done amazing work to rehab my shoulder. He is smart, intuitive, experienced, and one of the hardest working people I know. He cares deeply about each of his patients. Each and every one of his patients I have met agrees he is the best physical therapist they have ever worked with. His marvelous, long-time right hand woman, Mireya, also told me that that is what all his patients have told her during the nine years Yousef and Mireya have worked together. After helping my shoulder immensely, Yousef applied his magic touch to helping solve years' long issues I have had with my neck and back. I have seen chiropractors, massage therapists, and other physical therapists, but none has been able to accomplish what Yousef has. He has a unique ability that comes from the rare combination of being extremely intelligent, intuitive, experienced, hard working, and endowed with a set of magic hands. Not only is Yousef amazing, I actually look forward to going to physical therapy at PRN because the entire staff make it fun and enjoyable. First I would like to say my experience at PRN Physical Therapy with Yousif was amazing. I went to see him because I had extreme back pain. He was compassionate and understanding with my needs. He explained my problem and let me know what I had to do to achieve my goals. His treatments were unique and extremely beneficial to my health. The most useful piece of equipment that he recommended was the neck traction. It helped with my posture and elongated my neck. He also helped me by showing me how to do my exercises at home. I was referred to Prn because my best friend went to see Yousef Gandour(Clincal Director) and couldnt believe how amazing he was! Besides the fact that he loves people, is very funny( to lighten things up)...(afterall pt isnt the highlight of anyones day!) He has healing hands for sure!
