We initially met Priscilla for a board and train for our 1.5 year old dog Katsu and it was the best thing we could have done for our family. Before Priscilla, our dog would bark and lunge at any dog she would see, pull on the leash, get overly excited with visitors, and it pretty much became a challenge to bring her out to new places. We honestly didn't know much about dog training and had tried previous methods on our own and even a different dog training facility before we found Priscilla. I have a 2 year old Great Dane mix, Pickles, that was re-homed to me when he was 1 year and 8 months old. He had severe separation anxiety, low confidence and, due to my lack of education, his behaviors turned into reactivity to other dogs and strangers, particularly men. He showed aggression and would lunge at other dogs and had began to resource guard me. When left alone, Pickles would destroy my apartment, whine and bark. I could not leave him alone. It breaks my heart to admit, but I was at a loss on what to do, let alone handle and manage Pickles behaviors. It greatly affected my relationship with him, and I myself developed anxiety whenever I walked him, when I left for work, or had him interact with people. But I knew I couldn't give up on him, I knew that if I didn't reach out for help, his behaviors would get worse. If he was with anyone else, I am convinced he would be surrendered to a shelter and euthanized. I reached out on Nextdoor app for help, and I was able to find PRK9 Dog Training with Priscilla. Priscilla kept me involved throughout the process through a blog she created. She worked on building a relationship with Pickles for the first week, implemented crate and muzzle training. I was educated by Priscilla that crate training will provide Pickles with a safe space and reduce his separation anxiety. She recommended that after his training, to place him in crate for small periods and gradually increase it so he becomes accostomed to being alone. Because of Pickles severe anxiety and eventual reactivity, I had vets request Pickles have a muzzle. Pickles HATED muzzles and would make his reactivity so much worse. I can't tell you how defeated and embarrassing it was to have everyone see Pickles behavior. With Priscilla's patience , she worked on proper muzzle training involving creating positive associations with the muzzle, so Pickles sees it as a normal and non-threatening part of life. This reduced stress and anxiety when the muzzle needs to be used. Now, when I pull out a muzzle, Pickles comes and places his snout right inside! Stress free vet visits here we come! For the second-third week, Priscilla worked on Pickles Come to Sit, Down, Place and slowly had Pickles interact with people. Priscilla even used her family for Pickles to meet! I was so shocked when I saw the posts, I couldn't believe it. I was so proud of Pickles and grateful for Priscilla's dedication. By the end of Pickles 3 week board and train, I couldn't believe how much he had changed! Priscilla gave me so much advice, especially that Pickles will always need a lot of guidance, structure and leadership to thrive and follow instructions. Because of Pricilla's training, even with me! My husband and I went with PRK9 because a good friend went to them with their dog to get trained and we saw how amazing she was off leash at a park. That is what sold us. Our dog Luna is such a loving and playful girl. But before Priscilla with PRK9 trained her she was very reactive and hard to bring out when we wanted to go somewhere. She barked at any loud sound and always lunged toward other dogs to play. Also on walks she always pulled. Priscilla really took the time to train Luna and break her out of the bad habits she once had. What I really loved about the training was that she had a blog she would update Monday-Friday with either pictures or a video and an explanation of what they went over that day along with the commands. I consider myself to be a pretty meticulous researcher, so when my boyfriend and I bought our Dogo Argentino, we knew we wanted someone who aligned with our training preferences (balanced training). Our in person consultation with Priscilla was great. She was attentive and answered any questions or concerns and we appreciated her in-depth knowledge, + she even mentioned the four quadrants of dog training :) We decided to enroll Otis in Priscilla's 3-week board and train puppy program. Our main goals for the program were to have Otis remain neutral in distracting environments, prevent/tackle separation anxiety, and master loose leash walking. Prior to boarding, Otis would respond fairly well to commands at home but struggled a lot outside. He was super distracted, excessively excited, and even reactive. He also ignored our attempts at corrections with a slip lead both inside and outside the home. Otis is our child (lol). Priscilla's daily updates (M-f) on her community blog during the board and train provided much needed reassurance. Priscilla has changed my life with the training of my rescue dogs.
