Dr Barger is an amazing doctor! He takes his time. He actually has a personality and can lighten…read morethe mood of the situation. He's thorough. He's extremely knowledgeable. And I am impressed with how much time he took to educate, explain, ask questions and give a very thorough examination. This is who you want to be your RA Doctor. Just be aware you may wait to see him but it's worth the wait.

I have to give Dr. Barger this write up, due to the fact that there are so many horrible Doctors…read moreout there and no one will speak the truth about them. In 2007 my mom was very ill. We didn't know what was wrong her. She was perfectly healthy. Exercised daily, ate healthy , didn't drink or smoke. All of a sudden in January her hands and feet started to swell. Her Doctor miss diagnosed her for six months and gave her all sorts of pain medication. By July her immune system was shot. She had pneumonia, limes disease from someones dog who had been camping and 48 other diseases. She collapsed in my arms. My dad and I took her to Mercy General. Dr. Barger was the Rheumatologist doing rounds. When he saw my mother 5"3 and 100 pounds, frail and weak. He just shook his head. She was put on the morphine drip because she was in so much pain. Dr. Barger kept having tests run, determined to see what was wrong with her. After much medication and over 3 weeks in the hospital in the Cancer and Special Disease unit. She was released only to be rushed back by ambulance 6 hours later. She then spent another two weeks in the hospital. Dr. Barger came to see her like clock work every day with a human kind of compassion that most Doctors don't have. He never rushed out of the room. He acted as if she was in his primary care. He was relentless in finding out what was wrong with her. Every disease was treated. He diagnosed her with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, which at the time was unheard of. She changed primary Care Physicians just so that Dr. Barger could be her Rheumatologist. The primary care physician was a jerk, but she would see Dr. Barger immediately after seeing him, so she endured the primary care physician. She hated seeing the Primary Care Physician, but loved seeing Dr. Barger, She saw him for six years. My dad normally took her to see him. The main thing that my mother would say about him is "He Cares and it's genuine". She always felt better after seeing Dr. Barger. My dad even liked him. Unfortunately she had to get a new Primary Care Physician because the Primary care doctor who is not worth mentioning would have put her in the grave, but Dr. Michael Barger is a rare find and a one of a kind Doctor. If people mention or complain about him spending too much time with his patients. Please don't. He spends the time that is needed to make the patient better. He is a very good Doctor. I hope he does not change. My mom is healthy now and she and my dad still love Dr. Barger.

Via the Medical Board of California web site, you can obtain…read moreinformation on a doctor. I highly recommend checking on doctors and surgeons prior to visiting them for care. Of course I also recommend you also check this fantastic site, Yelp for reviews about specific doctors and medical facilities. On the left side of the Medical Board of California web site home page, there is a "Check a Doctor" button. You can research if disciplinary action and other issues have been taken against doctors in CA and other states as well. Information on felony charges after 1991 are also made public record. Here is that direct "Check a Doctor" link: http://www.medbd.ca.gov/lookup.html Quality of Care... You can also file complaints against doctors. It is a simple process. Please, if you have been treated with neglect, incompetence, negligence or been injured by a doctor, by all means report it. You can save others from experiences what you have endured. You can make a difference. I recently spoke to a representative here and she said there is no time frame in which a complaint must be filed. The link with the complaint information is: http://www.medbd.ca.gov/consumer/complaint_info.html This site is a helpful resource for patients. Another option provided via the site is to check a doctor's license status. Various other helpful information is available as well. The complaint form is available to print and fill out. You simply send it to The Medical Board of California. This is not to be confused with the Joint Commission, which is for reporting hospital complaints. (That's another review in the works as well as HIPAA). I thank many of you who have offered your medical-related reviews on Yelp. Knowledge is power.

Someone should take a look at this agency, investigate their practices and personnel as it's clear…read morethat they are bias. I provided all types of information for a surgery that was performed incorrectly and negligent, including doctor changing out records in the post op report. Surgeon refused to do the right thing and when I called here, it was just as if I was dealing with the rotten doctor.I live with pain now and going on 5 years. One of he most unethical agencies I've come across.
