Today 1.26.26 near 90 days later, Aisha from Dr. Davids office, calls to tell me my Jan. 29 appt, in 3 days, has been cancelled with no explanation other than I "must go to Roseville Dr Aehmed". Im disappointed and now furrious that i will have to wait another 90 days. This is so BS.!!! And Sutter has really slipped in recent years. I shouldve changed medical groups!!! read more

I waited over 40 minutes to see Dr. Davids and when she arrived she didn't even bother to apologize for how late she was. On top of it, she was in a rush, stood up before I could even ask the questions I had jotted down....She spent all of about 5 minutes with me before rushing out the door. If I had been that late to my appointment with her, I'm sure I would not have been seen at all. Why do they allow this type of disrespect of patients? And they call this "Dignity" Health. I've been living with OA of the knees for 10 years and been getting by. Then last year my health and my knees took a turn for the worse. Long story short, X-rays revealed the cartilage has worn down and is almost nonexistent in both knees. I was in constant pain and I could barely walk. I was at my wits end. I found a pain clinic but they were terrible and treated me like a number and were hard to get a hold of. Then I happened to find Mercy Medical, Dr Heather Davids on Yelp , read the reviews and made an appointment. Dr Davids, the NP and her staff are absolutely wonderful! Dr Davids really listens while I talk, she takes tons of notes and asks questions as well. She asks about my other health issues, she is very knowledgeable and puts me at ease and truly cares. Not only that, Dr Davids wants to make sure your pain is legit and you'd better be prepared to run the gauntlet with her and I don't blame her. There are people who try to abuse the system to get pain meds for fun, then there are people like me with serious health issues who are truly suffering from chronic pain on a daily basis. After 40 min I finally got to see her, right from the get go, she looked at me, and said what are you here for! I then said this is pain management right, and I had a referral. She then got up left the door open and walked out multiple times to talk to her staff, about something totally off the subject. Dr. Davids has been treating me for the past 15 months due to pain associated with a horrific car accident I was in. She is ALWAYS kind and compassionate. She ALWAYS takes the time to listen to me and then to thoroughly discuss all of my treatment options. I appreciate the fact that she doesn't just arbitrarily prescribe pain medication, as I believe doctors doing that is how the opiate epidemic started. The last thing I want or need is to get addicted to opiates. I had to take them for the first month after the accident but since then all of the alternative treatment she has suggested have helped to control my pain without them. I appreciate a doctor that is not only concerned about alleviating my pain but also very cautious about over-prescribing opiates, which could cause me even more problems. Dr. Davids also treated my husband for cancer related pain before he passed away five years ago. He felt that she genuinely cared about helping him and she never made him feel rushed or unimportant. Since my late teens I have suffered with chronic pain and it wasn't until my 30's that I met Dr. Davids. I have now been her patient for two years and I pray she never retires. Dr. Davids literally saved my husband's life. She listen carefully to his reporters of pain and ordered MRi views that had not been explored. The source of his pain was identified. She then advocated for appropriate pain medicine until the needed surgery could be performed. Without her intervention he was giving up. Due to his heart condition we were fearful that his heart could not endure. He now has a good quality of life and has times without pain while he awaits surgery. Dr Heather David's and her staff are amazing. In this business I'm sure they see a lot of people looking for a free fix but there are others that actually need help with severe pain. I recently changed from another Pain Management group that treated people like the enemy. There was no trust between patients and dr's and the way they made me feel was that,in their words "It's all in your head so I'm stopping a pain med that you really don't need". I then searched for another pain management in the area and I found Dr Heather Davids. What a difference in how they listen with a smile and treat you like a human not a number that has to sit on a hard bench to wait for a dr. I'll give you an example of this, as we were waiting in the waiting room a receptionist came out to say Dr Davids was running a little late so please have a apple juice or orange juice and granola bar while you wait. Wow! This was a great start!! When I did go in I went through the normal procedure of getting my blood pressure and weight with a very friendly technician. Then after a short wait Dr Heather Davids entered and we talked for a while about my pain level and what caused it. I felt she actually cared about me and my situation. This was so different from my last office visits elsewhere. I've found a place that listens, cares and works on a plan to help you get off the pain meds but not by just stopping a prescription but buy offering procedures that may actually ease the pain and then work on lowering the dose. I may be the minority here but I actually don't want to be on this medicine but need it to live a normal life and here at Dr Davids practice I believe we will work together to accomplish what is needed to keep me able to live a normal like like walk the dogs and go swimming and work towards a drug free life. Well... I've read all the past reviews. I agree with all the high rated ones. The others need to lighten up. My story starts with waiting 6 weeks to get into my appointment and I was in a lot of pain. Not her fault. Mercy has her in 3 locations every week for the patients convenience. From my first appointment she looked at MRI's ordered by my primary doctor and we discussed all I was doing to help my pain management including what medication I was taking. We then decided to try the injection route. I have been through 3 injections in different areas and because of Dr. Davids, who noticed that most of my problem was the osteoarthritis, we came up with additional ways to relieve my stabbing pain in certain areas. Any other doctor would just throw more drugs at you. We did a follow up every 6-8 weeks. You need to make your appointment before you leave the office so you get on the calendar. This was apparent when it took so long to get into see her. I am very happy to say, because of Dr. Davids, my pain had been relieved by 90%. She worked with me on exercises to strengthen my core and a healthful diet to lose weight. I've lost my first 10lbs and will continue, to help relieve the stress on my back. I'm very grateful to her. Her patience and good humor have meant a lot. We need to be more appreciative and considerate of good doctors these days and realize how hard their day is as well. If you are pleasant and are also willing to help yourself the outcome will be a better experience. The Healthcare system of today is a very difficult maze. I Dr Heather Davids I have been in a constant battle with chronic neck pain which triggers horrendous migraines for a number of years. First, I have to say that it is extremely frustrating when you first see a Dr and you're describing your symptoms the best you can, only to have the Dr look at you and treat you like you're crazy or it's all in your head. I've had that experience more times than I'd like to count. Dr Davids has never made me feel like I'm crazy or making things up. I've been seeing her for several years. My rheumatologist had refused to continue prescribing pain meds for my rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia, and referred me to Dr Davids. I wasn't happy about it at first. Only because it's a hassle to explain everything to a new Dr. But, I'm so glad I was referred to her. She always treats me like a family member that she genuinely wants to help. She's always compassionate, and takes all the time I need with her, even when she's a few minutes behind schedule. I've never waited longer than 30 minutes to see her. At every appt, she asks me how my life is going and how my pain has been over the last month. When I was going through a rough patch in my personal life, which made my pain much worse, she was very concerned and didn't give me a hard time about increasing my meds. I am very grateful to have Dr Davids and her staff, in my life. I recommend her to anyone with chronic pain that is negatively effecting their life. She's educated on health and wellness too. This helps because when you're eating right, exercising, and getting sufficient rest, the pain is more manageable. Dr. Davids is remarkable, which considered in the current medical environment makes her unique. This is my second 5-star review of her, and if allowed I would add more. I have had seven surgeries on my knees, based in part on three staph infections. In addition to that I am an adult patient of cerebral palsy which causes premature degeneration of the joints. I am mobile, but only because of the care and treatment of Dr. Davids. I cannot raise either of my arms above my elbows, and I feel as if I am turning to stone from my knees to my lower back. All I seek is mobility and pain relief. In concert with my primary care doctor, Dr. Christopher Olson, i am on her recommended plan of pain management and have been for years. I have several hours of mobility a day, and I am so thankful for it. I am thankful for her. I recently learned she is moving to a new practice, and I will follow her wherever she goes. My wife and I experienced the illness of a child, and we try to mean as much to others as the people who helped us during that time. Dr. Davids means that to me, and my gratitude cannot be expressed in words, because it is surpassed by feeling and emotion. She is compassionate, passionate, and she cares. She defines that which we seek when we go to a doctor and we are fearful of what the future holds, Her compassion helps me understand the origin of the pain, and I know as I age I will progress, but I have a sense of comfort knowing she is in my corner. I have CRPD due to medical negligence of the anesthesia team at UCD. I was referred to Dr. Davids by a DH neurologist who had hoped I could receive local treatment rather than travel to the Bay area. I told Dr. Davids my story of how the injury occurred and what I've tried for therapy. I was looking for some sort of physical therapy or nerve treatment. She was clear that my condition needed treatment and the treatment was available, just not for me. The kicker was when she noted how quickly I was able to get in to see her and how fortunate I was that I did not have to wait months for her to just refuse treatment while she laughed and walked out the door. I have chronic pain after two spine surgeries from scoliosis. I am so grateful that I was referred to Dr. Davids to help me with the behavioral part of managing my pain. In the short time I have seen her I have learned techniques to help distract me from my pain, and I have changed my entire way of eating based on all the time she spent with me. When we meet she makes me feel like she has all the time in the world, and when I make progress a genuine smile washes across her face. I have Dr. Heather Davids at Mercy Medical Hospital on Duck horn Dr in the Natoma Sacramento area. I have her for my pain management doctor, and my choice was the correct one. She is so caring, knowledgeable and informative. Dr David's recommended Bio Feedback as treatment. Which is working out quite well. Since I'm personally not too kean on surgery or needles and injections. So in one of our appointments Dr. David's said she runs pain management support group. That meets once a month for 2 hours and asked if I would like to go to the meeting that day. I did, I'm glad I did. The people in the class aew also patients of Dr. Davids. The topics even though are structured, she allows the group to take over and talk about what we care about. whether it be family issues, eating issues, medications, or your medical problems. Dr. David's facilitates and gives us different hand outs that are about nutrition and eating habbits. All in all this class is VERY VERY INFORMATIVE and I'm so glad she recommended it to me. Dr. Davids is very nice and seems to really care and be very understanding. However she is so over booked that I was never able to get in to see her. On my first visit she sat with me and listend to all my issues, migraines, tension issues, back problems, multiple surgeries, etc.... and we made a plan to get me into biofeedback and go from there on what we can do with my meds to better manage my pain. The problem is that I am supposed to see her monthly and she is so booked that I'm lucky to get in every 3 or 4 months in any of her offices, even on the cancelation list. It's been a year and I still haven't made it to biofeedback, I've learned breathing techniques, guided imagery, and a few other things that i'm way past in my world of chronic pain. I'm on my search for a new smaller private pain management clinic at this point. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Davids for over a year. I have been treated for chronic pain for over 55 years since my first injury/accident at age 15. I have had 25 major surgeries. Dr Davids staff has been very courteous and helpful by scheduling my appointments for 6 months at a time. Dr Davids has always treated me with respect allowing me to fully explain where and what my pain is like and how I am affected by it. When giving me a shot in my back where the muscles were all knotted up she hit the exact spot the first time. I believe her greatest talent is to listen to me empathetically. I was referred to this "Doctor" by my Mercy Medical neurosurgeon with a documented pinched nerve and MRI evidence. She immediately accused me of simply wanting unnecessary narcotics and would only give me a list of suggested medications to take to a REAL doctor in order to receive a prescription. I waited 40 minutes past my appointment time for nothing. No treatment. I arrived in pain, left in pain, and she couldn't have cared less. Then, I was billed $700. For what? While I am in pain, she actually told me that I should be grateful to not have had to wait months to get in her office for her to tell me she would not help my condition because it was a part of a lawsuit, then charged my insurance $1000 for the 10-minute office visit. Dr. Heather Rachel Davids I love my Mercy doctors. I've been a Mercy patient for 25+years. My son was born here and I can't recommend them enough. I wanted to specifically share my experience with Dr. Heather Rachel Davids. I had an accident that left me with chronic pain issues and I don't particularly love medicine. Pain is a tough one and when it's bad it makes you cranky, sometimes down right mean. At my last appointment I watched another patient behave badly because they wanted their prescription filled early. I have no idea how early and it's none of my business but everyone in the waiting room was aware of his situation. Trust me I empathize... on a bad pain day I bit the guy at the salad bar's head off. Sorry salad guy. I've lived an active life and not being able to do the things I love has really frustrated me. I have always run to relieve stress. Guess what I can't do..... run. This has made me a less than pleasant person at times. I landed in her office because most doctors just wanted to throw medication at the problem. I know that's a dream come true for some people but if I don't like being kept down I most certainly don't like feeling groggy and tired while I'm down and out. In a way I have a feeling I'm a bigger challenge for this office than the man demanding medication but thats okay....they can handle it. It hasn't been a quick fix and I wasn't necessarily the most patient during the process but with Dr. David's assurance I trusted the process. I have gone through injections, infusions and blocks. It's been a journey with small but consistent baby steps. I recently had a set back reinjuring my ankle. As defeated and stressed as I am I know that if I trust the process again we'll make progress. The incident at my last appointment inspired this review. I know that we are more likely to share a negative experience than a good one and I wanted to make a point to not let that be the case here. Gratitude is too often overlooked and I am very grateful for my care. Find a good doctor you trust. Trust in the process. Pain is difficult, its tricky and it often makes a difficult situation emotional. Dr. David's is amazing and I don't know what I'd do without her. If I had landed in another office with someone throwing drugs at the problem I wouldn't have the quality of life that I have. She is compassionate and patient as the day is long. Honestly I have no idea how she does it. I can't imagine day after day, patient after patient complaining about pain. My hat goes off to her and her team!!!! They are an entire review on their own. I appreciate them as well. A word of warning, you'll have to do your part. You'll take a drug test before they'll manage your care. You'll sign a contract and you need to be consistent with a single pharmacy. In a nutshell if you are seeking medication (which is pretty obvious) this isn't the office for you. There's a fair amount of paper work every visit and thorough discussions. If you are asked to do a treatment that seems out of the box or you think may not work...consider it, research it. She's amazing at what she does. Of course we've tried things that haven't worked. As my dad used to say..."you have to get through the no's to get to the yes's". You won't know if something works unless you try it. Oh! Oh! One last thing. I wish I could shout this one from the roof tops. If you have scar tissue that has built up or adhered you HAVE to see her. I had nearly 8" of scar stuck to the muscle underneath. It was tight and uncomfortable. Constant tearing and tugging on it (with normal walking movements) would cause my leg to swell. Everyone that has ever tried to manage my scar tissue has basically rubbed the incision in the opposite direction tearing it loose. It was incredibly painful and never lasted. This scar tissue was 2 years old when I started treatment at this office. She did a series of teeny tiny injections just under the surface of the skin and over the course of the next several weeks it gradually pulled away from the muscle underneath. It was bizarre and amazing. Of course it hurt but nothing like manually tugging at it. Grin and bear it and know that it will be worth it. If you suffer with pain I cannot recommend Dr. Davids enough. She rotates from offices in Natomas, Carmichael and downtown. If you have a choice I'd steer clear of Carmichael. They added other doctors in this office and it's really crowded. It's a different feel and I just don't go there anymore. If its the only available appointment I'd grab it. You don't have to follow up at the same location each month. read more

I saw Dr. Heather Davids when I first moved to Sacramento. I agree with the person who said, "Zero stars if it were possible". I had chosen Mercy "Pain Management" because my spouse had brought home a brochure about it that sounded really impressive, like they really try to think outside the box and really try to tackle your pain problem. This was definitely NOT my experience with Dr. Davids. At my first visit I was told by an assistant that "Dr. Davids really believes in getting to know the patient as a person".I thought that sounded really nice. Unfortunately, that was NOT what occurred in my interactions with Dr. Davids. I had been living briefly in Southern California, where I was scheduled to have a block in my lumbar spine, but needed to move to Sacramento and did not get to do that. At my first appointment with Dr. Davids she was asking me why I moved to Sacramento, etc. (I guess that was her way of getting to know me?) and in the course of her questioning she asked me something and I answered vaguely because something extremely traumatic had occurred in my life. She responded, " WHAT. HAPPENED.?" in a very demanding, forceful way, implying that she was the doctor, I the patient, and she had asked a question that I was required to answer, pronto. As a trained counselor, I would never speak to someone that way. If I felt it important to know something, I would gently let the patient know that they did not have to discuss something if it were too painful, but that it would perhaps help for me to know in order to treat them more effectively. (It wouldn't have.) I would not have been forceful and insensitive. Then she proceeded to contradict what at least five pain doctors had previously told me, that the pain was probably radiating from nerves in my spine. She was negative about the possibility of a nerve block helping me, but pessimistically did agree for me to have one. I did have one with her colleague, who had an excellent bedside manner, and he indicated that he was not sure why Dr. Davids was so negative about it, that he thought a nerve block might be just the thing to help with the pain. Then there was the discussion of pain meds. I was taking them, had a prescription, and she said a number of times, "We need to know what we are treating before we prescribe opiate pain medication". She was and is entitled to her professional opinion and approach in prescribing opiate pain medication, but she did not assist me in any way in how to manage the pain while they found out "what they were treating". (She did not even try.) She told me that I needed to be seen by a rheumatologist, endocrinologist, and a number of other specialists. This was fine by me, but I sat there feeling overwhelmed, not knowing how to make these evaluations occur. She said, "We will help you get the evaluations you need". SHE NEVER DID THIS. She concluded her consultation by walking out of the room and an assistant came in with a release for me to sign so they could get records. I signed it, but they were only able to get records from a previous pain clinic that I had been to a number of years ago for a completely different problem. The next time I saw Dr, Davids was literally within the week that my spouse had unexpectedly and tragically died. I was fragile and had tears in my eyes. At this time she told me that she did not think the pain was coming from my spine (by now it has been concluded that it is). I apologized for crying and told her that my spouse had just died. She said, "DIED????" in an unfeeling way, and when I responded affirmatively she said, "HOW???" I choked out the words "brain cancer" and she didn't reply, just typed something into the computer. Not even one word of compassion or condolence. Then she basically told me to get with my primary care doctor for pain meds and did not indicate that she would be following through with her offer to assist with the evaluations, and made no offer for follow-up care. Without question Dr. Davids is the worst "pain management specialist" that I have ever encountered. She was rude and unfeeling, and made no attempt to help me at all. She basically kicked me out of her office, did not invite me back for a follow-up, and did no diagnostics or referrals to specialists, as promised. I would not refer my worst enemy to Dr. Davids, not that I have enemies, and I believe that rather than responding to this critical review with some statement like, " I am dedicated to giving each patient the personal attention they deserve", she should take a good hard look at her acumen, or lack of, and consider work in a branch of medicine that does not require sensitivity, because she has none. I left that second meeting feeling surreal because my spouse was no longer there to pick me up and not knowing what to do about the disabling pain that I was having. I don't normally write reviews, but with Dr. Heather Davids....it's a game changer!! I've been seeing Dr. Davids for a few years for severe back pain. She truly is the kindest, most compassionate, caring doctor I have ever had the privilege of seeing. Dr. Davids is always finding new ways to help with not just my back pain but my over all health as well (diet, exercise, mental health, etc). The minute she walks in to the exam room, there's a smile on her face and genuine interest in how you are doing/feeling. Dr. Davids has been my pain management specialist for almost 4 years. DR. DAVIDS IS AN EXCELLENT DOCTOR!! Dr. Davids takes a comprehensive, holisitic, multi-faceted approach to pain management, utilizing multiple therapies to help me live with my pain. Because realistically, that's what I have to do. I have learned to manage my pain with the arsenal of tools that Dr. Davids and her staff have provided me. She understands that medication alone will not provide the relief I require in order for me to live a happy and productive life. In addition to standard treatment options, I have learned multiple behavior modification techniques that are invaluable to me. Karen, the Behaviorist, has taught me how to utilize guided meditation, biofeedback, progressive relaxation and breath work to help deal with the breakthrough pain, given me diet and exercise advice, even provided information regarding local support groups. These tools are so effective that I've even been able to quit smoking. Dr. Davids is actively engaged in my healthcare and always asks how I've been, if anything has changed since our last visit, if anything new or exciting has happened and how my pain levels have been. She listens to my questions and she always gives me valuable feedback. I do see other medical specialists because, for example, chronic pain can cause depression and rheumatic specialty medications can aide in the management of my pain and prevent further damage to my joints. I am grateful that Dr. Davids has taken the time to help me get to the root of my health issues and provide me with the best available treatments. I don't understand these awful reviews, unless they are looking for something other than help with their health issues.
