Would recommend not using Jake's service if you are going out of town. While this crew likely does a good job with daily dog walking while you are at work, our experience with four separate out of town trips this year is that they have difficulty adhering to agreed upon schedules for visits and trouble with following other instructions also (checking mail, turning on outdoor lights etc.). Jake is the best. He truly loves what he does and he is crazy about cats and dogs! We recently traveled for six nights and Jake came to our home every day while we were gone. He sent us photos via the app (which is so great, btw) as well as videos. Every day, he updates a checklist of everything that he does when he comes by (if your pet has eaten well, pooped, an assessment of their mood, etc.) Jake also brought in our mail and all packages that were delivered while we were away. We will definitely be calling him again when we are traveling! P.S. Our cat Audrey, who can be a bit aloof, let Jake pet her forever while she purred the entire time. Jake's the first dog walker I've ever used, i couldn't imagine a better one. Elsie is an 8 year old Olde English bulldog who spent her first 6 years as a breeder in a mill (grrr)- giving her the best life, for the rest of her life it my goal. Jake has helped me accomplish that. For me: he never says no - and i don't make it easy with much of my work travel being last minute. He has always accommodated any ask I have. For Elsie: he loves her, at our meet and greet he barely talked to me because he was too busy on the floor interacting with her. He sits on the couch, or floor, with her when it's too hot for her to walk. He sends me pictures and updates all the time. He cares about understanding her history. This is our first time to use a dog walker/ pet sitter and it was a wonderful experience. A friend recommended Privileged Paws when needed someone to check on our dogs while we traveled. Jake was wonderful and on top of every detail. I LOVE their app, it makes scheduling and communication very easy. Jake took great care of our two dogs and I loved having the meet and greet before we set up our first service. We didn't have them stay overnight, but he took our dogs on walks, played fetch and make sure they had everything then needed! As the owner of two young boxers that are not JUST dogs to me, I have struggled in finding a reliable, consistent and responsible dog walker/sitter. In my experience, based on the lackadaisical attitude a lot of dog walkers eventually adopt, I have found that a lot of people get into the dog walking business because they think it's going to be an easy job. I understand dog walking/sitting, when done correctly, is none of those. It becomes obvious that most people are not walking dogs because they love dogs. Nine months ago I was referred to Privileged Paws and that all changed. I have finally found a company that I can rely on. Jake Long, the owner, personally met with me. He patiently listened as I explained my previous frustrations with past dog walker/sitters. The excellent questions he asked, combined with his interaction with my dogs, assured me I had finally found a person who runs a company for dogs because they love dogs, not just the money. A company that would, and has, taken the time to try to learn the idiosyncrasies of each of my dogs and adapt to their specific needs. I have never scheduled a walk with Privileged Paws where they didn't show up like they said they would. They go above and beyond my expectations. This starts from the moment they walk in my door: the way my dogs are greeted, walking them the length of time we agreed upon, being accountable by sending me an exact map of where they walked, informing me of my dogs behavior on the walk, to the amount of time they spend playing with my dogs afterward. I could not ask for more peace of mind for myself and a better experience for my dogs. They also have an app that allows me to log in at my convenience, and gives me the ability to set an appointment for any time I want. I don't have to wait until I have a minute to pick up the phone or type out an email, trying to get a dog walk (or overnight service) scheduled. I cant begin to express what a difference Jake and his business have made in my life. I am a single busy guy, and have a German Sheppard. While I am home with my pup in the morning and at night, I feel bad leaving him during the day. Not only is Jake trustworthy and punctual, but my dog loved him from day 1.
