Yesterday, 8 friends and myself did a virtual painting class with a wonderful instructor from Private Picassos. It was fabulous everyone had a great time. Phebe, created a learning environment by teaching us particular techniques and encouraging us to each create something unique. The class cost $45 which is a great deal especially since it included a supply kit with brushes, a good selection of acrylic paint, a canvas and palette. Phebe was able to work with the group as a whole and at the same time work with each of us individually. Phebe was welcoming, supportive and brought out our creativity. In addition, the attentiveness to detail and customer service was extraordinary. I highly recommend doing online classes with this studio. read more

Both my kids have been doing private zoom art classes with Phebe this summer. They absolutely love it! The kids ask when they can have art during the week and are so excited for their sessions. Phebe takes my kids passions into account when planning and is so patient with them (especially my 4 year old son). We love it! read more

We took a private clay sculpting class for my husbands bday with phoebe. It was really great!! She taught us awesome skills. We had originally thought we were coming to sculpt figurines, so after teaching us the basic skills she helped us create our own masterpieces. We decided to make dinosaurs, there was a whole bunch of books so we were able to see pics for inspiration of our Dino figurines. Phoebe was a really great teacher, and so eager to help us but at the same time didn't want to touch our pieces unless we approved ( great quality for a teacher, Bc most artists won't let others touch their work). We really had a wonderful 2 hours, learning great skills with a very talented pleasant teacher. Also another thing is they weren't stingy with the clay .. we've been to other classes and they give you one piece for the whole time! We love Private Picassos art kits - my three year old just did the stained glass kit and it was the perfect indoor activity. We've been working on strengthening his hands for handwriting as well as coordination so cutting the pieces of paper was great for that (they're precut so if you don't want to make them smaller you don't have to and can just get started, but it was a great idea to build out the project). Once we got it set up, he was able to do the project almost entirely on his own, which gave him a great sense of pride. We have his final masterpiece in our living room - it's really pretty and he loves telling everyone that he made it "all by myself." read more

I highly recommend Private Picassos if you are looking for a place that is completely stress free for hosting your child's birthday party. I proposed a project not on the Private Picassos menu for my daughter's birthday party. Not only did they acomodate it, her guests were able to complete a 2nd project! I brought our own tableclothes and plates etc.. and the staff set it up for the pizza and cupcakes! The goodie bags were also a complete hit! The staff was friendly and attentive and I was beyond pleased with our experience at Private Picassos! read more

This drop-in art studio is a MUST VISIT in BK if you have kids! They have wonderful projects and supplies for little artists to use. Val, the owner and founder of PP is wonderful and has a great staff on hand to help out! In the front window of the studio they have a painting space for children to work in and another area in the back that has tables chairs and well organized supplies/tools for children as young as 2 years old to explore and use! They also have books, toys and art kits you can buy. There is a handy membership options if you live in the area and want to return frequently! read more

Did a day pass and had so much fun! Very well organized and fantastic materials and craft templates. When out of inspiration, kids can get inspiration from a loaded bookshelf of books and can look at examples other people have competed that are on display.... Great kid and adult friendly music, relaxing vibe, and the perfect amount of attention from the staff member :) the homely feel added a touch of warmth and made the space unintimidating. They had a 3 year anniversary last Saturday stating that they had free arts and crafts activities. We love going to free events. Upon arriving from a 45 minute drive, the "free craft" they had was outside in the cold which consisted of cardboard, glue, and some foam items. Inside, they had the canvas on the wall $5 activity and in the back was a playdoh $15 craft. The flyer was pretty deceiving so I'm sure this is a great place for people who reside around the area. If there was space, as there were only a few spots on the wall to do the canvas painting, we would have done the $5 canvas. read more

The Short of it: -Great space for drop in art projects -Large variety of activities -Good for 18 months+ -Wonderful staff -Excellent prices The long if it: If I could give more stars, I would. This is an awesome drop in art space where kids can do a number of different projects. The variety of projects offered is vast from the more typical painting and collage making, to printmaking, faux stained glass, and even making stuffed animals! I am an art educator myself, and I was blown away by the project offerings. It's the only space of its kind I've ever seen! I have been bringing the toddler I nanny there since she was about one and a half. She absolutely loves it! I would say the projects are accessible for ages 18 months+. The great thing about the activities is they are designed to be adaptable to any age, with the exception of a few more difficult projects that are suggested for older kids. And the prices are extremely reasonable. For $15 you can do one project, and for $30 you can do as many projects as you like and it's valid all day, even if you leave! And even if you only do one project, you are welcome to stay pretty much as long as you like (we've never been kicked out at least ahaha!). There are a variety of books and toys for kids to play with as well as crayons and markers if they need a break. The space also includes lots of wonderful art-related kids books and products for sale. Some of the teachers also even have their own art for sale! They also offer a variety of other services including enrichment classes, birthday parties, home classes, and even classes for adults! Although I haven't had any personal experiences with anything besides the drop in service. The staff also deserve a shout out! Founder Valeen is an absolute delight. Being a parent herself, she has a unique perspective that allows her to relate to her customers. Especially considering she's the founder, she is so lovely and down to earth and spends a great deal of her time working in the studio herself which is refreshing! I also want to give a shout out to one of the teachers, Sarah. She is both and incredible artist and teacher and just an all around lovely person. She also has a working knowledge of ASL which is a great asset to anyone with a child who is D/deaf or hard of hearing. Whenever we come and go, whoever's working always stops what they're doing to open the door for us. The whole experience feels less like a business, and more like a family. read more

We just had PP do our son's 2nd birthday party and Valeen did a wonderful job. All the arrangements were made well in advance and she incorporated our preferences for the party to create a great age-appropriate art hour for toddlers in our home. PP sets up and cleans up and magically keeps the little ones engaged with fun activities and stories to start and end. I loved the classes my 7 year old daughter had with you. In fact, a year later, her self-portrait is still hanging on our door. You encouraged her to express her ideas through painting and sculpture. What a great place for art! My kids did some of their many projects and absolutely loved it, we still have some of their creations on display at home. The store looks beautiful you do feel inspired to create once you step in and you can even buy their activities on the go and do them at home.
