I would like to highly recommend our pediatrician Dr. Wolffe Nadoolman at Private Pediatrics. From the very first meeting I have been pleasantly surprised by Dr. Wolffe's compassion, availability and expertise in his field. Our daughter is 20 months old now and has received a level of care that I thought was non-existent in this country.
First of all, he met my husband and I at his office on a Saturday morning and did not charge us a consultation fee. You will find that other offices charge $50 or more for a consultation.
Our daughter was born in a SF hospital. Dr. Wollfe offered to come see our baby in the hospital, even though his office is in Berkeley. Then, we found out we were leaving that evening, so he offered to come to our house early the next morning to see her. Yes, I'm not kidding! He made a house call. And, that is not the only time he has made a house call. There has been one since.
Our daughter was jaundiced when we brought her home from the hospital. Dr. Wollfe called ahead for us to Alta Bates Hospital to get her blood tested. He got the results a few hours later and called us with a treatment plan we could do at home, giving us the number of a medical supply company that delivers products to your home. Such an amazing thing when you're taking care of a newborn.
Dr. Wollfe is available 24/7 by phone. He actually wants parents to call him...about any concerns. He has answered his phone for me at 11 at night when our daughter had a terrible cough. He could hear her coughing over the phone and supsected croup. He told me to take her to the emergency room at Oakland's Children Hospital and called ahead to alert the on call doctors that we would be coming.
Dr. Wollfe schedules his appointments an hour apart, so there is none of this rush you in and out. Also, you rarely see other children in the waiting room since the appointments are spread out. No sick kids coughing on your child who's just there for a check-up. He loves to talk to you about your child's progress, your concerns, and he loves to answer questions. He has literally taken over an hour with us before.
I don't know how he does it, but I rarely have to wait more than a couple of days for an appointment. He has a lovely nurse, Tammy, who is super friendly and competent. She usually finds a way to fit you in the same week you call. But, of course, if your child is sick, Dr. Wollfe will see he/she. He works late, will meet you at the office on weekends or early in the morning before office hours. I mean, this guy is so compassionate and caring, the only thing I worry about is that he gets no time to himself!
And, besides all that, my daughter loves him. You just have to see this doctor in action with your kid (s). He has a great sense of humor while also taking your child's health very seriously. I just can't say enough good things about this doctor. My husband and I always comment to each other how we wish Dr. Wollfe could be our doctor, too. Well, in fact, he kind of has been. My husband had a terrible cough one day that we were in with our daughter, and Dr. Wollfe listened to his cough and advised him of a treatment plan.
Dr. Wollfe loves what he does and it shows. Three cheers for a doctor who is practicing medicine for the right reasons! read more
