I went to Dr. Naik at the suggestion (okay fine, threatenings) of my father who had been visiting her for years. I normally hate the dentists office, as I am sure most people do, but Dr. Naik and her staff made getting four cavities filled feel like a breeze. I was seen promptly at my appointment time and they got right to work. They walked me through what would happen after and were checking in with me about pain or any discomfort during the fillings! Even when there was a snow storm before my appointment they called me back on their off day to respond to questions I had emailed. They also keep a very clean office and have a friendly and welcoming staff! I definitely avoid the dentists and always will, but if I ever need anything done, I know who to call. read more

I've been going to Dr. Naik for several months. She is very kind, professional, personable and patient. She provides in-depth explanations of the issues with your teeth, shows you the issue, and provides several solutions. She is always on time, focuses her time only with you during your appointment, and it's super easy to schedule an appointment with her. Even when you need an emergency same-day appointment, she has always had availability. I had an issue with one of my crowns that was very frustrating. She addressed all of my concerns and was kind enough to do so without charge. At the end of the day, she is so caring of her patients and wants to ensure they leave happy. Her dental hygienists are professional and really get to know their patients. Dr. Naik listens carefully to any concerns and provides honest feedback. She is not a doctor looking to recommend care just to add to her bottom line, but honestly tells you what you need and don't need to have done. You need to review all the negative reviews because there is a pattern I went in for a filling and she said that I had a choice. a root canal and a filling. I choose the filling. she drilled into the nerve area. a month later, I showed up at her practice with excruciating pain and she then tells me more pieces broke off during the filling procedure that she did NOT tell me about. The lady wasn't apologetic for not getting my full consent. I had to go into a different dentist to get a second opinion and I'm told that she entered into my nerve area and killed off my nerve which was causing inflammation and pain. it's a slow practice for a reason. I hate going to the dentist as it is never a fun experience for me. I afraid of suggestion of removing the teeth. I had pain in my lower molar teeth. Dr. Naik and all her staffs are super friendly and reassuring. They will make sure you to understand the problem before they start. She explained me the gum problem and did a deep clean. The injection and the process was so smooth, you will not feel anything. Though she told me the pain will last for some days, still I called couple of times to confirm. She explained me multiple times without hesitation. I dropped a message regarding my pain on Saturday evening and I got the call in the early morning of Monday. I don't really want to besmirch an honest business, but I can't in good conscience let this one go even after all these years -- especially since I'm fixing a problem I encountered 9 years ago. I was a client of hers up until 2010. I remembered being so impressed with her initial services - like cleanings and fillings. Even the equipment that she used at that time blew me away. I would make recommendations to my friends to see Dr. Naik for all your dentistry needs. Here's what changed --- One night, I woke up to a bad, tooth pain. I was pretty sure at that time it was an abscessed tooth so I made an appointment with Dr. Naik. She said that she couldn't detect any symptoms so she told me to make an appointment with my PCP because it seemed like a sinus infection. I went to my PCP and my doctor said 'I don't know why your dentist recommended that because I can clearly see a pocket of abscess above your tooth.' So, I come back to Dr. Naik and what she told is what irked me the most! She just said that I needed a root canal and recommended me an endodontist -- that can do it for $1000 because that person was out of network! SHE NEVER OWNED UP TO HER MISTAKE AT ALL! SHE DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO JUSTIFY HOW SHE COULD HAVE MISSED A DIAGNOSIS. At this point, I wanted to be proactive so I didn't complain because I was in a lot of pain. I did some research and found an endodontist who was in-network that could do it for me 1/10th of the cost. Dr. Naik was okay that I took an alternative route and eventually made a crown that went over the root canal'd tooth ...and then I never went back to her. The takeaway --- I think it's just really interesting to see in these reviews that she was so quick to advise root canal procedures to people who didn't need it, that she FAILED to recognize patients who actually needed it. I just recently replaced the crown that she made for me, which motivated me in writing this review. She might be a great dentist now, but I'm just not sure how if she'll react appropriately when things really do hit the fan. read more

Both my husband and I tried her while searching for dentists. She did the cleaning herself. She took xrays, that were instantly digitized, and displayed on an LCD screen for me to see. She pointed out what she said were several cavities on the screen. I'll be honest, I'm not a dentist, but I didn't see anything. She also said that my previous dental work was going to need to be re-done. After doing her best to scare me with her giant magnifications of the inside of my mouth, she handed down a "treatment plan" that outlined all of the work that she decided I "needed", and the "budget" that would allow me to pay for what it was going to cost me. And then came the high pressure tactics to get me to schedule the first procedure right away. Fortunately, I've had several friends succumb to the multi-level-marketing shams, and I've learned how to handle high-pressure sales pitches. Instead, I got a second opinion. Guess what? No cavities. And my previous dental work was just fine. ***18 months later, I've been seen 3 times by my dentist, and still no cavities. Not one.*** The kicker? I called to have my records faxed to my new dentist. At that point, I was told that all records were digital, and that emailing was the preferred method of transfer. Dr. Naik had the audacity to try to CHARGE me to release my records to my new dentist. For anyone who wonders, it is legal in virginia only to charge reasonable costs associating with the transfer of records. That would include paper, envelope, stamp, the cost of a CD if mailed digitally, or charges incurred to fax long distance, etc. It does not cost anything to send an email. I refused to pay the fee, and informed the office staff of why I did not feel they should even ask me to, and was promised a call back from Dr. Naik to discuss the fee. It's been a week, and no call back. I'm not surprised. ***UPDATE*** Upon reading my review, Dr. Naik reached out, and apologized for my experience. She also offered to release my records at no charge, and said that clearly there had been a breakdown in communmication in her office as nobody had told her that I had called or had concerns. I really appreciated this. Though she stood by her original diagnosis and suggested treatments, I am satisfied with the over-all end result. As a result of her email to me, I have given another star back, bumping her up from one to two. read more

I had a similar experience with Dr. Naik as many others who have posted reviews. She actually cleaned my teeth herself, rather than having a hygienist do it. While she was very nice, I question her ability and ethics as a dentist. She poked my gums so hard that they started to bleed. She scared me by saying that my teeth were in bad shape and that some dental work I had done in the past was going to have to be redone and seemed to be after getting me to come back for more expensive procedures. I then went to my old dentist in Cincinnati, who has been a dentist for over 30 years. I told him what Dr. Naik said and asked him to check out those issues. He said that my teeth looked fine and so did the dental work that Dr. Naik said was no good. I will never go back to Dr. Naik. I went to Dr. Naik's office for a cleaning. She recommended that I have a filling replaced very quickly or that I would otherwise need a root canal. (alarming news). She gave me a sheet with prices and explanation of the procedure. I received my payment plan and in addition to this procedure were recommendations for two more crowns. After a quick google search, I realized that this was a purely cosmetic procedure. I continued to investigate the first procedure recommended to me (as no other dentist had ever commented on this filling before) and went to someone else for a second opinion. After an entire examination had passed without mentioning this filling, I specifically ask the second dentist about the filling, the need for replacement, and the root canal. After an additional 15 xrays (instead of the four i received at Dr. Naik's office), I was told that under no certain terms do I need to replace the filling or that I had decay leading to a need for a root canal. Long story short, I feel that she's either young, inexperienced and willing to take unnecessary drastic action where none is needed or has a new practice and is trying to drum up business (aka the 4K of recommended procedures...one of which wasn't even discussed in the appointment and later found to be 100% cosmetic). Otherwise the experience (the office, the staff, the cleaning) was fine. Just wasn't a fan of the root canal scare. read more

I've been going here since 2010. The office is very clean and modern. I had one problem with one hygienist, and after that asked Dr Naik to clean my teeth personally. She is happy to do so, and uses a numbing gel to protect my sensitive teeth. She is very gentle and friendly. I've not had any cavities since I've been going here, so I can't talk about that experience. I do have receding gums and the periodontist, Dr Bari, is also very friendly. I've had 3 gum grafts done by her, which all went fine, healed nicely, and alleviated my nerve pain. read more

Just had another dental cleaning. I spent 2 minutes in the waiting room (just enough time to check my email on the free workstation) and then I proceeded to have my teeth cleaned along with a fluoride treatment. The assistant (and Dr. Naik) explained how they do floride treatments because the water we drink often does not have enough of it. I found the office to be extremely clean, bright, pleasant, and it looks like a well run ship. Everyone there seemed to be in a good mood and I can tell that the staff enjoys their work and they take pride in the practice. One nice thing about Dr. Naik's practice - they have gone paperless. Best dentist in the world! Hardly any wait, nice new equipment and TVs while you're in the chair, friendly knowledgeable staff, and flexible times for appointments. Honestly, I have no idea what some of these other reviewers are complaining about. I've never had any extra services placed on me, have had work done by both the hygienists and the Doctor herself, and have never been pressured for any additional services. She's not the first dentists I've visited in the Northern Virginia area, but she's definitely the last one I'll ever have to look for - I'm sticking with Dr. Naik for good. read more

Wow; love Dr. Naik. I went in for a consultation for some major work I need to have done. They initially scheduled me for a cleaning to get a full eval done and see what their recommendations would be. They hygienist did a fine job; no complaints. Then I sat and talked with Dr. Naik for probably a good 20-25 minutes about my concerns, what my goals were, and what her thoughts were based on the cleaning & the evaluation/consultation. It was no surprise that I needed to consider having several crowns, which I was ready for. Dr. Naik talked me through the options and her thoughts about what would be ideal to get the treatment done in a timely fashion. I was able to schedule the work for the crowns and the root canals that also needed to be done (again; no surprise--I knew this was coming, and it was a LONG time coming & I needed to bite the bullet & get this done before my teeth got worse.) Scheduling was easy, and they were able to get me in without having to wait very long which was much appreciated & a nice surprise. The lowest point in the experience was the endodontist--she was a little gruff and didn't have great "chair-side" manner about her, but she did two root canals and they've been feeling great for over 2 months, so no real complaints there. Dr. Naik & her assistant cemented in my crowns about a week or so after the root canals & temporary crowns went on. This was a VERY good day and my crowns look wonderful! They're on my top front teeth, and had been a personal issue for me for a long time. I'm very pleased with Dr. Naik & her team for how kind and down to earth they were the whole time I was there. The office is modern & clean. The bathroom is in a shared area on the floor their office is on, so that's a bit strange, but it's not the worst thing. I will definitely be back for a cleaning in a few months & for any other issues that might come up in the future. read more

I suppose I should have read Dr. Naik's reviews before going to see her -- I would have saved myself the anxiety, shame, and disappointment I experienced during and after my one and only trip to her office. I, too purchased the Groupon for an exam, x-rays, and a cleaning. I thought the Groupon was a great deal and it would save me some money at what I thought would be a routine cleaning. Yes, Dr. Naik's office is "state of the art" with all the new tricks and gadgets, but her office is very unprofessional. It seems they are trying too hard to be "trendy" and they are missing the whole "medical" feel that a doctor's office should have. The receptionist was incredibly rude and Dr. Naik has very little personality. She actually comes across as being rather abrasive and annoyed to be doing her job. Dr. Naik proceeded to reprimand me about the condition of my teeth and told me that I needed a root canal and crowns on two teeth which had never given me any problems. She also told me that if I was not feeling any pain in either of those teeth, it probably meant that the nerve had died! I left her office with a "dental work estimate" totaling close to $8,000!! Needless to say, I decided to seek a second opinion. I went to see another dentist based on a recommendation from a friend (Dr. Lessne in Arlington) and he was fantastic. I did not tell him what Dr. Naik said because I wanted to get his unbiased opinion. He mentioned a cavity in one tooth and took care of everything that same day, never mentioning root canals and crowns. Dr. Lessne is now my regular dentist and my husband sees him now, as well. Moral of the story: STAY AWAY FROM DR. NAIK! She is unethical and unprofessional. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Naik for 2 years now and would highly recommend her practice. The office is state of the art with new equipment and TV's at each bench. The staff is quick, friendly, and gentle when it comes to cleanings (which is a plus!). Dr. Naik is extremely knowledgeable and takes plenty of time to personally examine all of my teeth and x-rays. She then walks me through any areas of concerns and answers any questions that I may have. She is extremely friendly, and I feel very comfortable with her guidance. I saw Dr. Naik for the 1st time in February. I was in need of a cleaning and had a cavity that was bothering me. The receptionist that was there when I first contacted the office was nice, as was the hygienist and Dr. Naik. It was determined that indeed need a cavity filled, as well as a root canal. The amount I was quoted was ridiculous (~1800) and even initially stated I would just find some one else to do the dental work. Dr. Naik assured me she would work with me on a payment plan. I still did not agree with the price being that I have 2 insurances, Aetna PPO and MetLife ( Tricare). I even made mention that with my Aetna and Tricare I did not not even pay close to that amount for my complete ankle reconstruction which involved ortho doc, hospital stay, anesthesiologist, etc. Because of the pain, I was experiencing I went ahead and set up the payment plan knowing I would not pay even half of that with my insurances. I was asked by the receptionist if I would like a reminder call on the payment due date. I said yes. Of course I forgot the 1st payment, because it was out of my norm of bills. By this time, I guess she had hired a new receptionist/billing clerk. She called me to inform me I had missed my payment and collect the payment. She reminded me of my payment dates, stating she does not have time to be calling me to remind me. As time went on and I started receiving my Explanation of Benefits(EOB), I realized between both insurances these services were being covered 100%. I contacted MetLife. It was explained to me that Dr. Naiks's office never coordinated benefits with them and should have never tried to collect that type of money from me per the government contract. After going through the EOB's with both insurance companies, I called the office and told them I did not owe even half as much as I had paid ($400). She initially told me that's not correct. I went through every EOB (annotations, payments from both instances, check/eft numbers, dates they were processed, etc.) The only thing that was not covered was the temporary crown (~$250). The receptionist informed me that Dr. Naik had written it all of with the exception of $50. It took approximately 2 weeks for me to get a resolution. When she called me and said they owe me, I wanted to go through the EOB's again just to be sure. The receptionist told me ok and she would hold off sending the check out that day so she doesn't have to write 2 checks. Dr Naik's receptionist/billing clerk seems to lack customer service skills and billing experience. She has a nice/nasty tone and everything appears to be a bother. I feel like had I not brought my billing concerns to their attention, I would still be making monthly payments. Her gatekeeper and initial cost will make you want to run the other way. read more

This is an update after a follow-up with my normal dentist. To recap, when I went to Dr. Naik's office, she went over my xrays with me. Her reaction to them made me aware that there was a problem. So when I asked, she stated that I needed a root canal as soon as possible and that I had a number of cavities. She attempted pointing a cavity out to me on the x-ray, but I could not see it. I found this odd because I'm almost 30 and have had one cavity in my whole life. She talked to me long enough to try to scare/worry me as much as possible. Not only that, I was worried about having so many cavities plus a root canal, and I had no idea how I would ever pay for it all since I am in grad school. I decided to pay out of pocket and go for a follow up exam at my normal dentist who is located in NC (and also graduated from UNC as did Dr. Naik). I gave him copies of the x-rays that Dr. Naik's office took. Not only do I not need a root canal, I did not have even one cavity. The dentist told me that my teeth looked great and there were no problems at all! I had a wonderful and comfortable cleaning, and gladly paid out of pocket for such good service. Be weary if you go to Dr. Naik, she seems to be in the business of scaring patients into services that they do not need in an effort to make money. I will never return to her office. I'm also a Grouponer visiting the site of an old cleaning to see how this place is doing now. I had an especially poor visit with a very negative view of their front desk and customer service and was wondering if that were normal. It seems reviews on this place are split, with people complaining Dr. Naik is way too conservative (or aggressive, depending on your POV) with her assessments. And a few chiming in about the poor receptionist which, unless they've had a staff change, I wholeheartedly agree with! I came here in 2010 so I would hope they have a new receptionist by now or she's improved greatly by now. As far as the expensive estimates, I'm one of the 2% of people that actually has earned such exorbitant diagnoses so I can't speak to that. I've had a lifelong and mostly unpleasant relationship with multiple dentists, oral hygienists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, periodontists, etc. I've had some truly crappy pros have a go at my mouth with sharp instruments and a couple really good ones. I don't remember much of the actual dental visit so that's probably a good thing. If I thought Dr. Naik was a poor dentist at the time, I would definitely have remembered. Maybe she did give me an expensive prognosis but I was probably a) used to that and b) had already decided I was not returning before I sat in the chair. What I was completely turned off about on my visit one grey autumn morning in late 2009/early 2010 was the receptionist literally never looked up from her screen when I came in. Later she walked into the patient room and announced that she had just sold her car online. That's why she was so distracted when I first walked into the waiting room and couldn't bother to look at me. Then while I was filling out the paperwork, I asked to see their privacy policy which for some reason they hadn't included in all the sheaths of paper handed to me. I could literally hear the receptionist talking shit about me to the dentist asking in a derisive tone why I was bothering to read it over. And when I glanced up they were both looking at me. The waiting room might be nice, but it is not that big at all. And I was the ONLY patient there. HELL NO was my reaction to that, but I still needed to get my Groupon's worth of cleaning. The receptionist seemed young, immature, and unprofessional. My first thought is she is a relative of the dentist. Hopefully she has gotten some better training or been replaced. There is no way a person in their right mind is going to trust nor subject themselves to a health care provider who runs an office like. Otherwise, I don't have the same complaints about the actual dentist that others have. read more

I met Dr. Naik at a practice in Tysons that I have going to for 10 years. When I found out she opened her own practice, I left for her practice. That should say enough. She is personable and the staff is welcoming. Her facility is great - inviting, technically advanced, and environmentally conscience. The chairs have individual TVs units, the waiting room has a beverage fridge, and an area for kids. Highly recommended! read more

I've been here for almost a year now in DC Metro area. The first dental clinic we went to was ehh... bleh, ickgh! Small, cramped, out-dated, etc.. my kids were scared of the dentist, and staff was too busy to answer questions, not a friendly environment. DR NAIK is the 2nd dentist that my family and I has gone to in the area. All I can say is that... I REALLY LOVE HER, HER TEAM, AND HER CLINIC. I brought my 2 young kids today to see her, and oh boy! They love everything about her and her assistants (they're calm, gentle, reassuring to my kids, takes their time... My 3 yr old sat and watched cartoons on their sleek flat screen tv and not a complain). I like the children's area in lobby (a small kiddie desk with computerized toys & 2 small chairs - looks very clean), complimentary juice drinks and water, a computer desk for internet access for her clients, state of the art office... neat design, not cramped, clean, sleek, not run down, not smelly, a feel good place that makes you want to come back for more... to add to that, I saw one of her assistant's disinfect equipment right away. And, it wasn't just passing the disinfectant wipes, it was the kind of wiping that will take that germ away! Best of all they accept TRICARE's United Concordia (like for us military families). From the very beginning of my visit I felt very comfortable. The office was extremely nice and everyone there was very friendly. I recently changed my dentist to Dr. Naik in the past year. Everyone in her office is very friendly and helpful. From the front desk receptionist, to the dental assistants, to Dr. Naik. I recently had to have a crown replaced. I am very afraid of big needles and the dentist drill. Dr. Naik explained the procedure to me and how it would progress. She talked with me using xrays of my teeth. Dr. Naik talked to me throughout the process, even while she was drilling on my tooth. The procedure went better than I expected.
