I was struggling to find a workable solution for replacing a 38-year-old odd-shaped bathroom…read moreexhaust fan in a vaulted ceiling with a unique venting system, and after talking to a number of companies about replacing it, I turned to Stephen who I had had a good experience with in the past. He did far more research into what we were dealing with than any of the others, and offered a number of optional solutions explaining everything in detail. A more current model would offer less CFMs, require complex reventing, and drywall repair. So he suggested that he could actually rebuild the current fan with new parts, which we were miraculously able to find and order, and reinstall it in the same frame with no need for reventing or ceiling repair. While it turned out to be a more complex project that I'd expected, I trusted Stephen's recommendations and followed his lead. He did a fantastic job literally pulling the ancient (installed in 1986) fan apart, then rebuilding it so I essentially have a brand new fan with new motor and blades in the same frame and assembly. An amazing process to watch, and I believe it was the best solution possible. No one else even suggested that as an option as I doubt that anyone else even knew that this rather unusual high CFM fan could be rebuilt. As a result, I'm so glad I opted to work with Stephen on this project rather than the standard "FixIt" option as I'm certain the outcome would have been far less satisfactory. My fan now works like it's new again, and I'm thrilled. While it took a number of weeks for the process to play out, I could not be happier with both my fan, and Stephen's advice and service. He is very detailed, a perfectionist, highly creative, a delight to have in my home, and I look forward to turning to him again in the future! Thanks so much, Stephen!

We contacted Mr. Handyman to replace some interior doors at our home. I wish we never would have,…read moreand I'm only posting this review to save others from the headache we experienced. Below are a few highlights of their service: -They were very inflexible with scheduling and the only time they could come was when I needed to drop my son off for summer camp. -The technician who came to work on the doors did not wear shoe covers or offer to clean up the debris he tracked into our home as he worked on the doors -The doorknobs were installed backwards, so that the doors could only be locked from the outside of the rooms (locking people inside). We have children; this could be problematic. -The technician left before I could review his work -When I called to ask about having the doorknobs reversed the receptionist (I believe her name was Kristin) hung up on me. -After being hung up on, I called back to see when we could expect the technician to return, and I was told he would be back after his trip to Home Depot (we live about 15 minutes away from Home Depot). It was around 1:30 in the afternoon when I called the first time, at 3:30 when no one had been back to our home to put the doorknobs on correctly, I called back to check the status. -I was transferred to the owner of the company, who told me the tech would be out to put the doorknobs on correctly. No one ever showed up that day to correct the work. So we had to reverse the door knobs. -The following day the tech showed up 2 hours later than he was expected and grumbled, "I'm not perfect". I don't expect anyone to be perfect, but when a mistake is made it should be corrected. Working with Mr. Handyman has been a nightmare, and I would love to save anyone from this headache. I strongly advise looking for a different Handyman company. At this point our project is only halfway done and a door that once closed no longer closes. However, fortunately the locks are back on the correct side of the door. -They left many scratches and gouges in the paint of our door trim and did not try to touch it up even though he painted the doors the same color as the trim. - They started the work before, they received all the doors, meaning they were planning on stretching the project out across weeks. I hope it's just a weird coincidence, but it came across like this is the type of company that promotes men being able to put locks on the outside of doors enabling them to lock women and children in rooms against their wills. After my request for them to put the doorknobs on correctly, I was asked not to call back (only my husband could call) by the same receptionist who hung up on me. It seems important to this company that the women and children being locked inside these rooms do not speak up or advocate for themselves. This has been a horrific experience working with Mr. Handyman. I personally don't feel safe with them in my home, and I hope this review helps consumers to pick a handyman who is handy and accountable.

I drove 10 hours that day across the country to walk into a filthy home. I think the oven might have been cleaned, but that is not a 3 person, 2 hour, $500 bill job.
