Absolutely awful experience at Prismatic Nail in Lake Bluff. The entire staff was rude from the second I walked in -- no greeting, no warmth, just an attitude like I was inconveniencing them by showing up. I had a gift card for a manicure and pedicure and was told over the phone they could only fit me in for the pedicure that day, but that I could come back the next day for the manicure at no additional charge. Sounded reasonable -- until I showed up. Suddenly, they tried to tell me that splitting the services would cost more because the gift card included a discount for doing both at once. I was furious -- I had just confirmed with them by phone that this wouldn't be an issue. After pushing back, they reluctantly said they could do the manicure, but only if it happened at the same time as my pedicure. Mind you, there wasn't a single other customer in the salon and I arrived well over an hour before closing. The service itself was rushed, impersonal, and I felt like they couldn't wait to get me out the door. In fact, they basically kicked me out 30 minutes before their posted closing time, again, despite the place being completely empty. Save yourself the frustration -- there are too many other salons in the area to waste time or money here. I'll never go back. read more

I treat myself to a pedicure at least once every 2 or 3 weeks. My Mom decided to treat my sister & I to a pedicure, since my sister was visiting. The 3 of us went together. Honestly the first thing I noticed was that the ownership changed. Ordinarily I wouldn't care but I missed seeing Grace & Kristina. I've been a customer at least 10 years. I know that staff changes when ownership changes. The one thing I noticed it was one of the fastest pedicures I've ever had. The main reason women treat themselves is to relax. It was difficult to relax when I felt rushed. My pedicure lasted 25 minutes. It was a good pedicure. I loved my color, my leg massage, and the hot towel was wonderful. I just moved here and tried Prismatic Nail for the first time as I live close by and wanted to support local businesses. When I arrived for my appointment, the staff was incredibly rude (even when I was friendly and tried to make conversation), I wasn't asked what type of pedicure I wanted (I was hoping to get the deluxe but ended up getting a basic that was rushed) and they rushed my friend next to me to the waiting area after her pedicure and the salon wasn't even full. The entire process lasted about 20 min and it was $52! I go to get a pedicure for the very little 'me time' I have as a mom and this was a waste!! I will go back to Lake Forest to get my nails done from now on. read more

There is no toxic smell that is part of the territory in some nail salons. No drilling or questionable practices. Very clean and sanitary. The prices are very reasonable. I love Prismatic Nail! The staff is amazing -- talented, courteous, very nice and do a wonderful job overall. The salon is always clean, spacious and smells fresh. No noxious nail polish fumes here. They offer all major salon services - regular manicures, pedicures, no chip manicures, acrylics, waxing, etc. I always go for a mani/pedi or a no-chip manicure and the prices are very reasonable. $15 for mani, $45 for a mani/pedi, $35 for a no-chip manicure. They carry all the major polish brands and have a wide range of colors available. I also love that they always have a fun romantic comedy movie playing in the background! Walk-ins are welcome, but it is simple and easy to make an appointment. They almost always fit you in at the time you request on the weekdays. The weekends are a bit busier, but they are very accommodating. I highly recommend this place! read more

My friend took me here a few years ago, and ever since, it has been my favorite place to get my nails done. Ive had pedicures, manicures, and paraffin treatments done, and I love all of them. I tend to get hangnails, so I always ask them not to cut my cuticles. Thank goodness they listen! Other places sometimes cut my cuticles even when i ask them not to. Another perk is that they always have a movie going. Its always on silent, but the captions are on. I love that because I prefer a quieter salon experience, yet I still get entertainment. read more

I went to Prismatic nails for the first time recently and upon arriving thought it might be my new spot. However, one of the technicians cut my cuticle by rapidly and roughly using the nail file on my cuticles. I started bleeding a decent amount and instead of apologizing she tried to cover it up and then tried to get someone else to finish. When I mentioned it, instead of saying sorry she just tried to glue it. I understand cuts happen, but the fact that they tried to cover it up and only apologized once I said I didn't need them to finish was off putting. I'm left with a pretty large gnarly cut on my cuticle. I can certainly I won't be returning and don't recommend going. read more

I came here for my first ever Manicure (I am a 23 yr old guy) with my girlfriend. I absolutely would recommend Grace And Christine to anybody and everybody. Me and my girlfriend could not have left the place any happier. I work for Safelite and had black glue all over my hands and under my nails and everything is finally gone. Loved my first experience here! Prismatic has a relaxed atmosphere and the staff was friendly. I got a regular manicure. They were very patient with the challenge of my many allergies, which I really appreciated. I also asked for a special design on my nails which came out beautifully. I used to agree with the earlier post from 4/11. The last owner was unappreciative and downright rude at times. Their manicurist seemed put out and unhappy. I stopped going there because of this. I was SO HAPPY to find a new owner when I popped in one afternoon for a quick manicure (my other favorite was too busy). I am in Lake Bluff, so Prismatic is the most convenient for me. This is now my "go to" nail salon because the new owner is very customer driven, attentive and the technicians are so friendly. My last manicure lasted a week, which for me is very long. The pedicures last much longer. Lots of TLC too, massages, etc.. Love this place! read more

Prismatic Nail has become my go to salon. It is clean, spacious, and comfortable. The best times to go are during the week when it is quieter, but I have had good serivice on weekends too. I like to support a local business. Prices are reasonable--$45 for a mani-pedi. read more

I love this place! Super friendly incredibly accommodating never turn away walkins. It's very clean very hygienic great selection of colors and newest of products. And yes they all speak English and some of the reviews about this are very unfair. I live here and have been to many salons in the past and I can't find many anywhere that are better. Horrid customer service. I walked in with my daughter and they told us they could take us for manicures. Within 30 seconds of trying to pick a colour the lady asked me to hurry up and literally ripped the colour out of my hand and had me walked towards the mani chairs. The other lady who was actually doing my manicure wasn't taking much cuticle out, which I asked her to take out more. She did improve, but with an attitude. When she gets done with cuticle and filing she tells me they have no time for my daughter. At which point I asked her point blank why they said they could take us if they couldn't, she didn't know what to say and mumbled something to the other worker under her breath. I paid and left. Walked out with unpainted nails, not even base coat, and painful hang nails all over. Want my money back, hands down worse customer service, and worse manicure. read more

Wow it's my first time here found them on yelp and am glad I came here. I got a manicure and not only are my nails happy but so is my back. My manicurist gave me a back massage. It's part of the manicure and O M G it was soooo relaxing. The massage was well worth the manicure. It's affordable and definitely a relaxing environment! I went to Prismatic for a pedicure and had a few problems with this salon. First of all, they don't speak english so you aren't really sure if they understand you. Also, they do a very quick pedicure and don't paint all the way down to the cuticle so the pedicure doesn't last very long. But finally, and most important, I got a bad infection on my legs from their spa chair. It took me 5 doctors and 2 months to get rid of hundreds of red pimple like dots all over my legs. Beware of this and all nail salons that use spa chairs and do not sterilize their instruments. Definitely will not go back read more

Not worth the price. I was here for 45 minutes for a mani and pedi which to me is quick. I've had a 45 min pedi alone when it was a good one. On the pedi here I didn't even want polish. I just wanted more of the 'curing' which I asked for and didn't receive. Nails I got up-charged for the type of polish which that part is understandable. Still cost me $50 for both which I find ridiculous for the service I got. Probably won't be returning. read more
